or perhaps the extremist networks within those countries would strengthen and expand further leading to even more restrictions on what people may do/say/think in countries who want nothing to do with them.

There was no Al-Qaeda or Taliban in Afghanistan or anywhere until the west created them. There was no ISIS in Iraq or Syria until the West created them.
Created them, funded them or created the conditions for the need for them.

There was no French Resistance until the Nazis created the need for them. There was no Algerian Resistance until the FRENCH created the need for one. There was no IRA until the British created the need for one.

So please stop with the patronising drivel about how if your benevolent powers weren't stomping around in other peoples' countries robbing them blind and telling them what to do then they'd all be at each other's throats so you're actually helping them.

I have to agree to an extent with this statement..

For decades and longer western countries have been interfering in the running of Eastern countries, colonising, creating puppet governments, toppling leaders all in the interest of access to oil reserves . People only take this for so long before pushing back. Extremists exist in all societies, to an extent western governments have given the extremists something to fight against, something to use to rally support for their cause.

Its not that different to what has happened on our own island over the last 100 years.. People use whatever means possible to fight back against whom they see as the oppressor - the extremists will fight dirtier than most.

Ah give it a rest with this "its all our fault". Most of the killing going in the middle east , Afghanistan, Nigeria, Sudan etc is by muslim extermists against the local population whether its christians, Shias, Yazidhis. They're not killing the so called western oppressor, they're trying to drag the world back to the 8th century.

From now on any muslim extremist knowing to have hard line views against the west should either be deported or arrested before they commit attacks like yesterday and today. No place for these extremists in our society, the risk is to high.

Where did I say its all our fault ??
But no sane person can stand up and say that the western interference in these countries over the last 100 years has been a positive thing for the locals.

And the extremists use the western interference as a rallying call for their cause..

Its not the only cause, but it contributes significantly to the overall problem.

I hope the police don't kill them all. But torture them for years. Rotten animals

That's not the society we live in. Constant fear amongst the population and militarisation of our civil police forces and judicial system is the opposite of democracy.

We have seen internment on this island before and it solved nothing whatsoever.

    Keep calm and live free.

There was none of the current slaughter in Libya before NATO attacked the place, killed Ghaddafi, wrecked the infrastructure, secured the oilfields and turned loose lunatics on the general population to keep a legitimate popular political resistance from ever having the chance of developing. Likewise in Iraq. Iraq had the highest number of women in academia in the entire middle east before NATO trashed the place. So much for your bullsh1t theories of oppressing women and bringing people back to the Stone Age or whatever drivel you like to parrot to help you sleep at night.

Read some books why don't you, and preferably not the ones recommended by the Pentagon or the Daily Mail. You might learn a thing or two about how these "savage" countries were prior to NATO/Western colonisation.

You may want to get your terminology right, NATO never invaded Iraq.

Everytime you hear about one of these incidents you hear about the attacker or attacker having a criminal record or is known to police for terrorism activities. The guy in Sydney was well known to cops as a hate preacher.
I can't understand why the authorities dont just deport these vermin back to the hellholes they came from once they get involved in anything terror related..
    Because we're better than them.

Deporting them may not be necessary but I found it surprising they were able to plan the attacks and get their hands on AKs without raising suspicion. Along with the fact that they were known to the police to begin with makes this look like quite the law enforcement mess-up.

The suspects were reportedly relatives of the two brothers. I'd say anyone close to these pair are sitting in a police interview room at the moment.
