    (Can Mod change post title?)

If it's the Blacker warfare would be more apt.

Where is that? What kind of pub runs promotions like that? It kills a bit of my soul anytime i have to show my card when signing etc..... I couldn't imagine how it would feel having to show a social card just to get a pint for 3euro.

Christ almighty. This is why I would prefer dole to be lowered and some food vouchers for many instead. No motivation for some to leave it! Plus genuine cases of people who have a family and fallen on hard times should get more out of the wasters portion. (waster being someone able bodied who has been on the dole for over 7 years and I know a few)

You don't want to know. It's a pub in the backarse of Santry or Coolock or somewhere like that, can't remember where exactly, was in it once, scarred for life

Your 'social welfare card' is basically your Public Services Card, isn't it? Doesn't everyone have one of them, regardless of whether they're on the dole?

Their previous promo was 'thirsty Thursday,' where all drinks were 3 euro to everyone, with specials on shots, 3 test tube shots for five euro.

    :D

Would be discrimination if the offer only applied to those on the dole surely?

Not that I go around flashing my social card at every opportunity in the hope of a discount.

Do those in receipt of welfare not deserve a day/night out?

I say this as someone who never received a cent from the state and never will

Reminds me if The Laurels in Poleglass if anyone knows it.

Walked in there one night around closing time, asked could I have a pint.
'Have you any money?' the barman asks gruffly, reaching under the counter.

'A-a-aye' I manage to stammer, thinking I'm about to get a baseball bat kiss.

'Well what the fcuk are you asking for then?!' yer man shouts at me

:pac: Was that more than 5 years ago? Don't get me wrong, the place is still a bit of a kip, but all of the bar staff are young and pretty friendly now.

Hmmm, announce a cheap drink deal a week after a video of a girl getting rode out the back pops up on Facebook.

The place may be a ****hole, but they know their clientele.

Tbh, most of the people who avail of drink offers in the Blacker are 18-22 year olds getting locked. Not the 'we won't pay' brigade, they aren't property owners.

There are some workers protesting, because not everyone works mon-fri jobs. I haven't protested, but I know a few working people who have. Most of them get their days off mid-week, same as I do.

    The majority are unemploymed, though.

No stats as such as there are no verifiable figures knocking about. I dont think there has been a poll done on the protest group. Just from marching and talking with my fellow citizens in October and November the majority are decent hard working people. People from all walks of life.

The last protest was a disappointment because the organisers had it on a Wednesday and most people were working but still a decent turnout none the less. A group of us left the office to attend for an hour. Obviously your going to get the small group of scroungers in every protest groups like the morons that blocked the bridge. Anyway we will see how successful IW is come April.

Someone should care!I hope someone takes it up.
This is appalling. It's an encouragement to waste the states money and an insult to people on social welfare too really.
