Could have borrowed a couple of Puckane Utd ;) !

They were well gone by then as well, the soccer club died when we got good at hurling again!

Jaysus was sure they were well gone by that stage, must have been their last season, they were in the Premier Division at their peak but then the hurling took off and they fell down the divisions, played with them myself back in the day.

Tipperary are set to welcome back Cathal Barrrett for Sunday week’s Munster SHC final against Waterford.

The Irish Sun is reporting that the reigning Hurler of the Year has recovered from the shoulder injury he sustained on Tipp’s training camp in Spain in April, and could be in line for a return at corner back if Paddy Stapleton fails to recover from the groin problem that forced him to retire during the semi-final win over Limerick.

Meanwhile, young dual star Stephen Quirke has been ruled out of Tipperary’s Munster MFC final against Kerry on Sunday after picking up a knee injury whilst playing for the minor hurlers in their Munster semi-final win over Clare last Thursday.

Its certainly not great but it does do the most comprehensive GAA coverage of any of the nationals, and all the content is free online!

Kerry’s winning performance over Tipperary last month was far from perfect, yet Young said they showed enough of a clinical edge to beat them.

“I suppose that was aided by Tipperary, who were doing a lot of talking and talking themselves up a lot, and it got our attention.”

There is nearly a siege mentality for the sake of a siege mentality in GAA these times. Young is talking pure shíte. All i heard from our camp is that we are going all out to win. What did Young want, us to rollover and bask in the warmth of Kerry's greatness? There is no question of the level of respect we have for Kerry. Problem is we probably have too bloody much of it. Young should do more research and he might find that its a little thing called sport where two competitors play to see who can win

And Young may enjoy his wins over us while he can still get them. Mark my words, tiochaidh ar lá!

So its Limerick in the MHC final. Late goal snatched it for them against Cork. Bit farcial that Cork had to play them again after beating them already so Limerick could lose 1 game and still remain and yet Cork or Clare lose 1 game and they are gone? Makes perfect sense alright  Well done Munster GAA on another mad structure.

Eamon O’Shea hoping defensive duo recover
    19
Friday, July 03, 2015By Michael Moynihan
Tipperary hurling manager Eamon O’Shea is sweating on the fitness of defenders Cathal Barrett and Paddy Stapleton for Sunday week’s Munster SHC final against Waterford.

The two corner-backs may not be fit in time for the decider, set for Semple Stadium, but sharpshooter Seamus Callanan, who lost several teeth in an accidental collision in the semi-final win over Limerick, will line out for the Premier County.

“We have bits and pieces,” said O’Shea last night.

“I think nearly all our corner-backs aren’t 100% yet. Cathal [Barrett] is only back now, so he only played for the first time on Tuesday. We’ll have to wait and see how he gets on. It’s just coming back. Paddy [Stapleton] is probably the most serious. He has a groin problem — I don’t know exactly, because I don’t get involved in what’s wrong with them — but he’s probably the most doubtful.

“The others have bits and pieces, we won’t know because they haven’t trained. Seamus is okay. He played the other night. It was a serious injury, but he’s fine. ”

O’Shea paid tribute to Tipperary’s opponents, pointing out that his team have not beaten Waterford yet, despite the sides meeting three times.

“I rate Waterford very highly. Any team that’s unbeaten for the year — we’ve played them twice in challenge matches, down in Clonmel and again in Dungarvan [and in the NHL semi-final]. They played the same way against us and we haven’t found a way around them yet.

“They have a lot of good young players, so it hasn’t surprised me, no. I met Derek [McGrath, Waterford manager] last summer and I knew they were going to have a good season.”

Is it really that bad? What would you have in its place?
2 quarters and losers get a second chance for losing first game. 1 team gets a bye to semis and they if lose unfortunately don't get a second chance.
How would you change the format to give all counties more than 1 game bearing in mind all the club/school games these lads play and most have the leaving cert to do

It is an unfair system and both Clare and Cork, Clare in particular can feel agrieved, but with 5 teams what is the alternative??

Considering it's a Minor Championship, which primary purpose should be developing players and preparing them for playing Inter-County level in years to come then it's more sensible than it looks.

If this system was deployed at Senior level, that would be a farce. But this system gives all teams a minimum of 2 games, which is more important for these young developing players than having a 'fairer' Championship.

Best of luck to the Under 18`s today. Quirke a massive loss ! Anyone think we can do it though ?

Well surely there has to be a better system then whats in place. Limerick could in theory now lose twice and still win the minor all ireland (as Waterford did in 2013). Clare 1 game, 1 defeat and they are gone. Cork had 2 games against the same opponent. They beat them once and lost to them the second time and they too are gone. Tell me what exactly is fair about that?

id look into copying the senior system to a certain extent to be honest.

No it doesnt. Clare had one game in Thurles, they lost it and they are now out of the championship

I don't the senior system should be in place and feel the only change should be for all counties to get a second chance/shot.
Nothing wrong with a side losing twice and going on to win title but all sides should get 2 fames. Its a simple round robin with losers getting a second shot. Kerry not competing doesn't help in terms of Clare getting just 1 game and are out..
