Cool you still have that ? Think it's a taito cab though if memory serves. I'm pretty sure I rented a van from enterprise for two hundred euro when I got those cabs. And that was overnight too. Might be cheaper getting a van yourself.

Putting me in charge of a moving vehicle can be dangerous.

Wii rgb cable I got off ebay is a dud :( Only has a composite signal. Anyone know where to get a decent one? The official cable is too expensive

Have you tested it on a few TVs?
Also, have you tried a component cable?

The price point of the PSVR is damn tempting. I'm liking the general 'buzz' of it too

It's certainly more affordable than the PC offerings but €400 is still a decent lump of money. I wonder will any games come with it and if there's many games being made for it. Would be interesting if developers will be able (or willing) to adapt existing games to work with it.

I'm getting a whiff of Mega CD off it. Why bother making a game for it with a much reduced consumer base and spend time optimising it for a steady frame rate when you can hit a bigger base with a normal ps4 game.

I still think the enthusiast PC market will be the place for VR for now. I wonder if it will be hacked for PC. The specs on it are nice especially the OLED screens which sounds like a massive advantage over LCD screens.

Considering the camera required to use it uses a proprietary connector, I doubt it.

Still not cheap, but considering I'd need to drop about €1500+ for a new pc & a vr system, it's infinitely more accessible. It's in Christmas present territory now, rather than credit union land :D However, I don't expect a similar level of performance from it, compared to something like the Rify or Vive, but what I'm hearing and reading is very interesting, and indeed the video above is pretty damn impressive (though it is just that, a video). Colour me tempted at this point.

I'm guessing that price point is a loss making one, & an attempt to vastly increase the user base in a short enough space of time. It's risky, and they'll need some 'killer' apps/games for it to justify it, and take it out of novelty space. I feel Sony will push this though, VR is happening and is going to be big, & this might be just the door to mainstream VR without having to drop four figure sums.

On the whole PlayStation VR/Rift/Vive thing. As someone who has a couple of the dev rift kits (dev 1 and 2), had a demo of the Vive and will be getting at least one free retail rift. For me the Hololens seems the most interesting device by far(from what I've seen online).

But....... they are all too bulky, way to bulky. They're fun for a while but I dont want a big and bulky headset on while playing games or creating in 3D for hours on end. I dont want straps all over my head, cables hanging off me, its not natural or fun.

Again, I was an early adopter of the rift, and its great fun and I still fire up my rift dev kit 2 for games and more so for the demo experiences that are available on the rift forums and elsewhere(flying around the solar system and orbiting earth while sitting on a chair with surround sound headphones still has the wow factor as the sense of scale is massive).

One thing the PS VR has that will push it(maybe), cheaper price and a wide audience. Although they need to sort out the camera, as having it as a requirement but not included in any of the retail packs is going to lead to some very unhappy non technical customers.

Anyway, everyone knows the best VR experience is the Virtual Boy :)

The Wii emulators are pretty awful. They run at completely the wrong resolution which means you get some awful pixel warping effects with vertical screen movement. Also I remember name being incredibly slow on it. Best to stick to an original Xbox.

I'm unclear as to what the need is for all of the bulkiness and weight.
Google Cardboard showed what was possible and the further development of powerful phones with very high resolution screens, together with all sort of tracking built in, it seems a waste not to just use something like the Cardboard project, given how light and thin the display and processing power would be, linked into any PC or console you liked.
Unless there is something here I'm missing.

That hololens device though, that is amazing, but dat price, $3000 per unit?

The Hololens looks like great fun, but also something I could use for actual work(hobby work, not "get paid" work). They will need to sort out the field of view, as it is apparently tiny.

Then of course there is the surprise recent entry, the AMD Sulon Q(offering augmented reality as well as VR). An all in one device requiring no computer, as it has one built in. Its not super powerful, but does seem to have a few interesting tricks up it's sleeve.

I'd mostly use the Hololens for finding out if Goku's power level is over 9000 or not.

I'd imagine it has to be the PS4 camera which is actually two cameras.

Yeah I only realised after watching the Sony video that it needs the camera which doesn't come bundled. They'd want to make that point very clear in their marketing. So another €50+ or so on to the price.

Anyone know if it's compatible with the current PS4 Surround Sound headset? Looks like it comes bundled with those awful 'in-ear' headphones that look like they are designed for dolphins.
