Do any of ye ever get strange thoughts/ideas?

I get strange thoughts from time to time and they are getting worse to the point that I am not sure I will always be able to control them.

For example when I am in very serious formal meetings at work, I often get strange thoughts about doing a big dump on the table or perhaps getting my member out.

    Am I alone?

Nah, I'd say there's at least two people in your head. Be grand.

I get thoughts sometimes that aren't strange to me. In fact my psychiatrist strokes his beard and says my thoughts are "interesting"........

A few times during meetings I've thought about dropping a load on the table.

    Sounds pretty normal to me.

I get urges to smack people out of nowhere, who have done nothing wrong. But I wasn't sure if they just we're very smackable looking people

No, I don't want to lick my colleagues.

Sometimes I get the urge to just push people. Like, if an old women was standing on the platform in a train station I feel like pushing her. I'd never act on these feelings, but I want to push people in front of moving things.

    All the time.

My problem is that there is no filter between my mouth and my brain, so my weird thoughts become strange sayings.

At meetings, my thoughts frequently drift into a world of debauchery.

They are called intrusive thoughts and are quite normal, most people can control and dismiss them.

The problem is when they are combined with other conditions like OCD, ADHD or other mental disorders.

I often think about the table thing as well, i wonder why it is so popular?

What would happen if you actually did this? It isn't against the law is it and you could just say that you really needed to go and you thought the table was the best place.

I'm dying a death today after a serious binge last night.

All my thoughts today are frazzled.

Anxiety symptoms .... fairly normal, not very pleasant though.

Subconscious probably sending you a message you dont want to hear about the nature of the world you live in, or you can no longer bullsht yourself about the other side of who you are.

Humans didn't last this long without being able to tear some ass.
    Its there for a reason.

God yeh. I often want to set off fire alarms. Or if I'm in the switch room in work I'd love to pull out a load of cables. I haven't though....yet....

I wouldn't set fire to things or anything like that though. Just mildly mischievous things really.

I'm the same, so much so that I broke the glass in the fire alarm at school as a 15yo and the whole school had to be evacuated :)

Maybe it might just be people being mischievous or playful,I certainly wouldn't go all dramatic with it coz,I like other people here I have never acted on mad thoughts! Its more of a psychological rather than a psychiatric thing I would imagine

when im hungover, i wonder how it would feel to have a power drill with a fine drill bit drill into my eye.

Does the eyeball have pain receptors?

Once it starts drilling in, could i close my eye lids and cover up the drill bit except the entry point?

Will stuff come out of the drill hole?

would i feel resistance when trying to move my eye or just not be able to?

Also, i like to think who would i kill first when the Zombie reckoning comes. Probably this girl on facebook i know

This kind of thing is all that does be going on in my head in meetings. I imagine the whole meeting room breaking out into dance.

Thankfully I do not get taken to meetings often.

Sometimes I could be having a very cordial conversation with a very pleasant person, just passing the time of day and suddenly a though will come into my head as to what reaction I would receive if I just spat a big loogie in their face

Or if I just punched them in their nose really hard what would be the repercussions ? ? ?

All the time OP. To make matters worse, I have some damage to my frontal lobe, so I have very poor impulse control.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,973 ✭✭✭RayM

To amuse myself, I often have idle thoughts like: "what's the worst thing I could possibly do right now?" It's usually just harmless stuff like licking a bald man's head on the bus, or shouting "cunt" at mass.

Although the last time I had to get a tooth filled, I had a sudden urge to bite down hard on the drill. I was a bit worried that I might actually do it. That wasn't nice.

A lot of the time I just want to wallop people really hard across the head with a huge salmon. Sometimes I start chuckling thinking about doing really inappropriate things mid conversation with people. When I'm drunk, I just tend to do them. (Not salmon, there's never one handy!)

It's when you stop thinking they're strange it's when you'll be in trouble. :P

at school whenever a teacher would piss me off I used to fantasise about putting them in a WWE style submission move and refuse to let go until they tap out, leaving them in a crumpled heap on the ground :)

Whenever I'm doing 120 on the motorway, I always get the urge to yank the handbrake to see what would happen.

Sometimes if I'm working on a rooftop or visiting somewhere like the cliffs of moher I'd get notions of taking a running jump over the side. I used to be terrified of heights but not so bad anymore so I kinda think its the ultimate progression of getting past the fear. Sh1t outcome tho :)

I try to blink in sync with a vehicle's indicator lights so every time I open my eyes it's like the lights are either off / constantly on, can also be done to zebra crossing lights.

When I'm in a supermarket like Dunnes I suddenly get the thought of what it would be like to whip out a gun and shoot the place up / hold people hostage.

If I'm in the post office / bank I'll scope out all the CCTV and plan my heist while I'm waiting.

Waiting at the red light I just get the urge to walk out onto the road in front of cars, same at a train station where I get that sudden thought about jumping in front of the train as it's pulling in.

Sometimes, I get the image in my head of me grabbing a knife and slicing this off.

I get this as well when I'm up high, but it's only made my fear of heights worse!

Seriously, stop driving and see a doctor. I don't want to share the road with you
