Seriously: any opinions on Rooney or Baines? Who do we reckon has a higher points potential this week?

Just as a punt? Because if Baines gets a 15 pointer you won't want him out of your team :P. I would go Rooney for a punt; it's more likely he gets double digits than Baines.

Well, a sort-of-punt? They're the two obvious ones. It's a question of whether I sell Costa or not too. Sell Costa, get Rooney. Makes sense. Keep Costa, need a good player to play 'instead', so I'm thinking Duff-->Baines. One or the other! Dunno why but Baines is really calling to me this week.

I have a horrible feeling that whichever I choose, it'll be the wrong option. :o

I think Austin/Costa would be better. They look to have the more favourable fixtures up to the January wildcard.

How much money have you left in the bank? That midfield looks a bit on the weak side.

    Bony/Austin

And use the extra cash to get Baines or a chelsea defender :)

What's the rest of your defence? I'd always back a Costa sale; we need more in the bravos club.

Do people expect Crystal Palace to keep getting penos at the rate they have been? Because, for as well as he's done up to now, i can't really see a good argument for getting Jedinak in.

Im really stumped this week, it seems a lot of people are. My current team is:

    Fabianski
    Hamer

    Duff
    Dummet
    Clyne
    Bertrand
    Yun

    Adm
    Fabregas
    Boyd
    Siggy
    Sanchez

    Costa
    Aguero
    Austin

I wont be changing my gks but so far thats all im sure of. If i wasnt on the piss all weekend i could have simply changed adm for hazard but unfortunately it was too late for that by the time i had a look at things last night. Ive only got 0.1 in the bank so im fairly restricted for straight swaps. Gonna have to take at least a 4 point hit but thats not such an issue. At the moment im thinking adm & clyne out hazard & collins in. I have to do something with my defence, i want maximum one saints defender at the moment and duff and yun are both doubts so it makes sense to take a hit and improve my defence whilst getting hazard in for adm. Im unsure on collins, it feels like hes bound to miss some games over xmas, big sam has been a nightmare with west ham for defensive options, hes always rotating and its very hard to predict who will be ditched and when. I will wait to see tomorrows lineups before making my changes, im losing value but its probably worth it for a gw where many players could be rotated. If collins is starting ill prob go ahead and get him, otherwise im not sure who to get. Any suggestions for a defender at 5.2 or less who i would be reasonably happy to have starting every week for the next 4 or 5 gws or so.

The other option thats tempting me is adm, clyne & costa out hazard, terry & bony in. Im tempted to axe costa as he rarely gets 90 mins and jose has been fairly careful with his game time, i think hell miss a fair few minutes over xmas. Terry looks well worth having, he seems to start every game even during the xmas period and chelseas defence is looking fairly tight. Im unsure on bony, he also rarely plays 90 mins and gomis is a viable option to see bony not start a game. Not sure of other striking options if i am to ditch costa, theres no one jumping out

By dropping Jedinak to Boyd it gives me 1.5m in the bank to upgrade my midfield. Any ideas?

Done ADM ----> Siggy earlier on Saturday. Pondering getting Baines in for Betrand with my second freebie

I think Mirallas would outscore Oscar over the season IF he stays fit. Thats a big if though

Personally, I'd go for Baines. Everton are at home to Hull who are not great atm. Despite Rooneys recent record against Stoke at Old Trafford (a goal last season, an OG, 2 goals & 2 assists the season before), if he's going to be playing deep he's less likely to score big. Plus he's still an injury doubt on the FPL site.

This advice comes with the mandatory health warning. Rooney could quite easily wipe the floor with Stoke.:pac:

I'd go with Baines too, nobody has given Stoke a thrashing this season.

It's probably a recipe for disaster but Austin and Jedinak rotate very well home and away which is why I'm going to persist with it. When I have the chance to buffer out my squad I may as well take it. I'm aware of the heartache I'll encounter but rather have that than big fat 0's rolling in when they are needed.

Also continuing from the team I had yesterday I can save 1.4 by doing Panti -> Elliot and Clyne -> O'Shea which I'll probably do as part of a Costa/9 million mid fund. I think a Sunderland defender is a good option to have on the bench/in rotation and with PVA still out I've no problem giving a legend a home for Christmas.

Good moves I think. Elliot a nice wildcard bonus!

Would still not be digging the Jedinak thing, or Cresswell for that matter but I'd say you're in love there!

Did Di Maria and Duff out and Mata and Dummett in for a -4 last night. I immediately regretted it.

    Anyway, let's see what happens.

On second thought, that midfield isn't all that bad after all.:pac:

Just looking at the fixture list for a few midfielders up until the January wildcard:

    GW|Mirallas|Eriksen|Ramsey|Sigurdsson|Jedinak|Boyd|Silva|Oscar
    14|Hull(H)|Chelsea(A)|Southampton(H)|QPR(H)|Villa(H)|Newcastle(H)|Sunderland(A)|Spurs(H)
    15|Man City(A)|Crystal Palace(H)|Stoke(A)|West Ham(A)|Spurs(A)|QPR(A)|Everton(H)|Newcastle(A)
    16|QPR(H)|Swansea(A)|Newcastle(H)|Spurs(H)|Stoke(H)|Southampton(H)|Leicester(A)|Hull(H)
    17|Southampton(A)|Burnley(H)|Liverpool(A)|Hull(A)|Man City(A)|Spurs(A)|Crystal Palace(H)|Stoke(A)
    18|Stoke(H)|Leicester(A)|QPR(H)|Villa(H)|Southampton(H)|Liverpool(H)|West Brom(A)|West Ham(H)
    19|Newcastle(A)|Man Utd(H)|West Ham(A)|Liverpool(A)|QPR(A)|Man City(A)|Burnley(H)|Southampton(A)
    20|Hull(A)|Chelsea(H)|Southampton(A)|QPR(A)|Villa(A)|Newcastle(A)|Sunderland(H)|Spurs(A)
Clearly this is not an exhaustive list, but it does give you an idea of how easy or hard the fixture list is for some popular mid-priced midfielders over the Christmas period.
I've marked fixtures against top 4 clubs red, bottom 4 green.

I think Sigurdsson, Silva and Oscar stand out from the others in having maybe a slightly easier run. Eriksens run on the other hand looks tougher than most with 3 games from 7 against the top 4. Jedinak has 4 away games with 2 games against the top 4.

Looking at that table, it's really 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. What it tells me is that Man Citys run isn't half bad, and therefore, I have to find a way of getting Yaya in as soon as possible!:pac:

Sorry, I've left you with more questions than answers.:D

    With Baines, it'd be:
    Cresswell, Wisdom, Baines, Clyne.

Which is a pretty expensive back, by all accounts.

Midfield is a bit weak at the minute, in terms of spending as I now have both Chadli and Siggy. Baines wouldn't be long-term--just until I decide on a fourth more expensive midfielder. (Probably Hazard.)

Could you not just get Hazard în now rather than putting it off and using your transfers for these short term punts. Hazard has as good a fixture as anyone this week.

I could have but I already did ADM to Siggy. It made sense at the time. :o

    Very nice analysis.

Makes Aguero look even more essential to anyone who doesnt have him.

People thinking Costa/Fab/Haz as essential. It's looking more like Aguero/Silva/Yaya :)

From GW16 onwards, Aguero will be my captain every week.

Yaya is gone to African nations for Jan

Was planning on doing Bertrand to Terry but am now looking at getting rid of Downing for Siggy before he rises any more. Did the opposite transfer a few weeks ago and have regretted it since. Can get Terry in for GW16 instead. Thoughts?

It's not due to kick off til January 17th or so. My plan is to get Yaya in next week and then ship him out in the Jan wildcard.
