IsMiseMyself wrote: » Well, a sort-of-punt? They're the two obvious ones. It's a question of whether I sell Costa or not too. Sell Costa, get Rooney. Makes sense. Keep Costa, need a good player to play 'instead', so I'm thinking Duff-->Baines. One or the other! Dunno why but Baines is really calling to me this week. I have a horrible feeling that whichever I choose, it'll be the wrong option.

Despite Rooneys recent record against Stoke at Old Trafford (a goal last season, an OG, 2 goals & 2 assists the season before), if he's going to be playing deep he's less likely to score big. Plus he's still an injury doubt on the FPL site. This advice comes with the mandatory health warning. Rooney could quite easily wipe the floor with Stoke.:pac:

When I have the chance to buffer out my squad I may as well take it. I'm aware of the heartache I'll encounter but rather have that than big fat 0's rolling in when they are needed. Also continuing from the team I had yesterday I can save 1.4 by doing Panti -> Elliot and Clyne -> O'Shea which I'll probably do as part of a Costa/9 million mid fund. I think a Sunderland defender is a good option to have on the bench/in rotation and with PVA still out I've no problem giving a legend a home for Christmas.

IsMiseMyself wrote: » With Baines, it'd be: Cresswell, Wisdom, Baines, Clyne. Which is a pretty expensive back, by all accounts. Midfield is a bit weak at the minute, in terms of spending as I now have both Chadli and Siggy. Baines wouldn't be long-term--just until I decide on a fourth more expensive midfielder. (Probably Hazard.)

greedygoblin wrote: » On second thought, that midfield isn't all that bad after all.:pac: Just looking at the fixture list for a few midfielders up until the January wildcard: GW|Mirallas|Eriksen|Ramsey|Sigurdsson|Jedinak|Boyd|Silva|Oscar 14|Hull(H)|Chelsea(A)|Southampton(H)|QPR(H)|Villa(H)|Newcastle(H)|Sunderland(A)|Spurs(H) 15|Man City(A)|Crystal Palace(H)|Stoke(A)|West Ham(A)|Spurs(A)|QPR(A)|Everton(H)|Newcastle(A) 16|QPR(H)|Swansea(A)|Newcastle(H)|Spurs(H)|Stoke(H)|Southampton(H)|Leicester(A)|Hull(H) 17|Southampton(A)|Burnley(H)|Liverpool(A)|Hull(A)|Man City(A)|Spurs(A)|Crystal Palace(H)|Stoke(A) 18|Stoke(H)|Leicester(A)|QPR(H)|Villa(H)|Southampton(H)|Liverpool(H)|West Brom(A)|West Ham(H) 19|Newcastle(A)|Man Utd(H)|West Ham(A)|Liverpool(A)|QPR(A)|Man City(A)|Burnley(H)|Southampton(A) 20|Hull(A)|Chelsea(H)|Southampton(A)|QPR(A)|Villa(A)|Newcastle(A)|Sunderland(H)|Spurs(A) Clearly this is not an exhaustive list, but it does give you an idea of how easy or hard the fixture list is for some popular mid-priced midfielders over the Christmas period. I've marked fixtures against top 4 clubs red, bottom 4 green. I think Sigurdsson, Silva and Oscar stand out from the others in having maybe a slightly easier run. Eriksens run on the other hand looks tougher than most with 3 games from 7 against the top 4. Jedinak has 4 away games with 2 games against the top 4. Looking at that table, it's really 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. What it tells me is that Man Citys run isn't half bad, and therefore, I have to find a way of getting Yaya in as soon as possible!:pac: Sorry, I've left you with more questions than answers.:D
