Does anyone know if there are any different dash trims available other than piano black?
Ideally a factory option from another trim level.

Highline only comes in piano black finish

The GTI/GTD have a "carbon fibre" finish - it's a dark grey with a hint of that honeycomb pattern overlaid onto it. You can't spec different trims from the factory though, you get whatever is fitted to the model you've ordered.

Thing is Joe if you needed a replacement xenon how much would it cost ??

No idea (circa 100-150 for a bulb?), but I've had xenons in cars for years and never replaced a bulb yet.

They make a huge difference to the front end appearance of the car, you get the LED DRL's and the halogens are absolute crap in terms of the light they throw out.

That's a very complete car. Needs nothing except maybe Xenons as Joe says.
How much is that on the road r.o.r.?

The 1.6 highline starts at over 29k. That car ROR has is DSG so it's definitely over the 30k. Not cheap...

(EDIT although I see that's the TSI, which I think is a bit cheaper than the diesel).

Is it the same as the carbon look trim on the doors of our own cars?

If didn't come with any extras other than the 162 offers it's probably around the €31k mark.

Yeah kinda similar. This is from my old car:

Having had both, I prefer the piano black.

Here's the current price list. Depends on if it's the 1.2 or 1.4...

I don't really like the piano black myself, it's a dust magnet.

Yep it is, but it looks classy imo... a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth every other day and mine looks spotless most of the time :o

It's a 1.4 150 ps. Don't know what the new official list price is but can find what it was when ordered, in the morning.

Think the price has gone up around 600 which is good considering the extra equipment but not great if you weren't expecting it.

Why do VW put those Bluemotion badges on the tailgate? Took mine off my Polo GT and it looks so much neater (or it may just be my OCD!)

You will pay that sort of money for xenon bulbs from a main dealer but good branded ones can be bought for less than half that price from plenty of places on the web.

Also not sure about VW but xenon bulbs should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty, BMW cover them anyway even on their 2 year approved used car warranty. But I'd expect them to last longer than the 3 year warranty that comes with a new car unless you are doing a serious amount of nighttime driving or were just unlucky.

For anyone that has the MIB 2 Discover Media, there are "new" maps from May 2016 up on the Here maps site for download here: http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site/en_GB/-/GBP/View-Promo?&cwt=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light&Page=VW_Europe_Media_MIB2

There are maps for the other units to, I'm just not arsed linking them :P

OSI I downloaded the maps put them onto an SD card I had, but the head unit won't pick up on the data within the SD card. Once I put in the original nav sd card back in all works fine. Am I missing something?

I think the SD card that came with the car is encrypted to the car's head unit and will only work in that head unit. Have you tried copying the files to the original SD card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 920 ✭✭✭Ron Burgundy II

Sorry ignore my last post. I was viewing file on a mac so for some reason couldn't extract. But work computer allowed me so will try it again.

I'll see if extracting the file works. If not I'll revert back to the original.

When you say original card came encrypted, will a simple copy and paste work??

Not sure to be honest. I remember on my old Passat CC system the SD card with the maps was encrypted and locked into the head unit in the car. Never tried upgrading the sat nav though.

These details were circulated to dealers in early May, but I only found out yesterday because I tried to order a Passat 190ps for a customer :(

Are VW cutting back on selling the more desirable models???
. I'm hoping to order a 2.0 BiTurbo 240 ps Passat for 171 i hope they don't discontinue it by the end of the year. I'd hate to disappoint my local dealer by importing one from the UK.

I was looking at getting a GTD but i think i'd rather have the 240ps Passat, i need a car with some room anyway.

240ps 4Motion Passat's are still listed on my system (190's are gone). Saloon & Estate and Highline and Highline BE models, so looks like you are in luck.

I'd get the order in fairly soon though, just incase they do another model cull later in the year.

R.O.R what's the current €€€€ for app connect activated on a 161 golf HL (tech pack) with Discovery Media? Dealer said is was coming with then said he knew nothing about it.....wasn't a happy bunny :-)

How does that work? Order a car and the dealer will hold it until January? I don't like to see a car lying up though.

Lads help needed. Picked up my GTD about ten days ago. It was all great until two days ago but now the small issue of a squeaking drivers seat is annoying me no end. When you sit in it, move around or go around a corner you get the squeak.

Anybody ever have this issue ?

VW are offering zero per cent pcp on highline polo, golf, passat until end of July.

They really are chasing volume big time with the amount of offers they now have.
Is this because of diesel gate I wonder?

It's 1.9% on their latest updated website.

Thanks for that information, was into vw dealer today to see my golf(highline)that had just come in, registering and picking it up tomorrow. I've not signed anything yet but they never mentioned anything about the reduced apr!! I should still be in line for that? I've been approved a few months ago when ordering, but will be signing up when they have the reg number.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭carsfan2

You should definitely be eligible for the zero per cent. I would throw a wobbler if they try to leave any agreement at the higher rate.
I can't imagine it would be a problem as VW bank will have the latest rates.
With the enhanced specs as well they are a bargain.

I think he meant order now for delivery whenever it arrives!
A 240bhp will be a factory order. So it'll take 10-12 weeks. I think you'd be fine to hold off until September and then make Enquiries for a 171 order. I can't see them culling the lineup again that soon.

I've heard of other reports. Try adjusting the seat a tad (either the height or the angle of the backrest) and slide it back and forth a few times. Adjusting it like that might be enough to "cure" the squeak.
