How many times do you need it explained?

And that is where you have failed miserably. You have explained nothing!

If you could do it, rationally, once, that would be enough. (It seems to be beyond your capabilities)

Is that honestly an attempt at humour?

You are failing miserably at this debate. You have failed, time and again, to back up any argument and, instead, resorted to childish, pathetic name calling. And to think you have a vote?

You claim that FG were lying when they made promises pre elections in the last decade, we know they lie a lot but was every policy a lie?
You do realise you called a couple of hundred thousand people spongers? And you're talking about name calling. :D What's wrong with calling a blueshirt a blueshirt?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 181 ✭✭Scannal

No they weren't. Will you just go away and read what a manifesto is before you make a fool of yourself, yet again?

I know what a manifesto is, if FG got into power instead of FF they would have got a chance to put the manifesto to the testo but luckily they didn't or we'd be in a worse mess now.

More pathetic debating skills. You have lost this debate comprehensively.

Any man, woman, Party, organisation deserves to be called out on what they have done but not on something that never happened.

she also has interesting views on FDI at 10.15, in that she doesn't foresee a scenario where they can stay.
back to the stone age then.
That interview with Ruth Coppinger is one of the most unintentionally hilarious interviews I've ever heard.

I have explained everything. FF and FG are twins, almost identical. The only difference for decades was which side you supported in the civil war. This is a fact. I can't make it much easier for you to understand.

I love this idea of "throw in FF and/or SF" and everything will be dandy and they'll be no corruption and we won;t have to pay extra taxes for anything and...

    .... ye-ahhhhh......

Some people are seriously deluded when it comes to elctoral politics.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Well since they weren't elected into power we can only go on what they said they'd do if they were in power and what they criticised FF on post budget time. Going on this we can only reach one conclusion, if FG were in power we would have been in an equal or slightly worse mess than FF left us in.
Game, set and match to me. :D

I said "the voters", that is the electorate, as a collective.
Of course it's what the people voted for, it's borne out by the results. You don't seem to understand how elections work?

By your logic, a person voting for Mick Wallace is voting for Mick Wallace to be the Government of the Country.

No, I understand perfectly how elections work. The point still stands that it's not what people voted for, it's what people were given as a result of the voting.

What do you mean how? They made promises that would have inflated the bubble even further, nothing at all to quell it. Budget after budget they criticised FF for not going far enough. Fact is we were heading for disaster with either FF or FG behind the wheel and fact is we would have had the same policies post crash with either at the wheel also.

Yeah lets vote in the looney left, Mick Wallace as Minister for Finance, Claire Daly as Minister for Social Welfare, Gerry Adams as Taoiseach and Mary Lou as Tanaiste.

Not sure what portfolio to give that little rat Boyd Barrett.

I hope there is a decent alternative to FG come the elections, but I have said it before and will say it again, having seen the joke that is FF hit the equivalent of the lotto, what were they going to say come the election, calm things down boys, well take X out of the economy? Come on... They could have done that not got elected, as they didnt, but now point back to it and say "we called it for the madness it was etc" it wont / wouldnt have won them an extra vote..

I really do worry for the future of this country, people seem to want everything for nothing. We created wealth in the 60's and the 90's by making it easy for business to function - export led, moderate personal tax, low corporation tax and a well educated workforce is and always was the way forward.

For people to say this government has not been a success is absolutely ridiculous - we went from the economic/social cliff to return to leading European growth. Sinn Féin will destroy this country economically, the only reason we survived as an economy was because the fundamentals were always right.

it depends on what you deem a success, on some fronts I would say they have done an ok job, on justice, housing, infrastructure (I will hold off on this another while as the capital budget was slashed) and reform, it has been a poor performance IMO. Then there is Irish Water... Outrageous child care costs, housing costs particularly in Dublin... check? tried to get away with doing as little as possible, check? usual cronies and hangers rewarded, check...

This is coming from a FG voter last time around BTW... If this was their first term in office after god knows how many years and their was an appetite for change, both from the public and you would imagine FG and Labour chomping at the bit to get in, then god help us...

What part of the 2007 FG manifesto are you referring to that would have inflated the housing bubble further? Give us a clue, it was a 100 page document.

Everything starts with a functioning economy, when they took office we were in a truly awful state - one sudden shock would have sunk us. They had to take very very unpopular decisions to balance the books - we haven't even started reaping those rewards fully yet. As people go back to work things will ease on the public finance and more and more wriggle room will be created to ease the burden on the working class.

30,000 million euro was taken out of the Irish economy - a scale probably not seen since the great depression in the western world... most economists gave us absolutely no hope of returning to substantial growth within decades. The finance ministers of the rest of the developed world must be standing in absolute shock, most countries have stagnated dreadfully over the last 20 years - just look at France.

Our size, relationship with the US/UK, fantastic agricultural industry, educated workforce, willingness of the electorate to take short term pain and taxation system have brought us back from the brink - of that the people and government should be very very proud.

Vincent Brown was on Newstalk with George Hook last night and he slated FG and Labour. He made of point of noting that if their manifesto had been put into place then the country would have been beyond recovery because they wanted to do what FF did, but on a larger scale. Hook couldn't disagree with him, so I'm going to go with the experts opinion here.

Ruth Coppinger on Newstalk yesterday said a person earning €95,000 a year could be called working class once they worked, but no one would be allowed under a socialist party government to earn over €100k, including those in the private sector.
She said this wouldn't scare people away from the country.
Like we can have elections but people will still elect stupid people
yeah, she also said that russia in 1917 was a beacon, and now it's ireland's turn to be a beacon!

That is truly truly frightening.... How do people vote for lunatics like this??

Staggering level of naivety.....Complete and total lack of even the slenderest grasp of reality.

We haven't survived at all. The debt burden on the nation is simply unsustainable (why do you think the IW scam is being rushed through). Have you seen the huge numbers of people taking their own life recently?

This government has been a total and utter failure.
