The people of Ireland voted for the present government that have enacted the water charge and local property tax, Does that mean the water charges and LPT are right? Sometimes governments make decisions that are not the will of the people.

Hence why I included the Pew opinion poll in there too. 82% support it.

Who are you to say what is right and wrong and speak on behalf of French people. Have you even ever been to France or asked a French person their view?

Fair play to the cast of the opera and the security people for upholding the law.

Hopefully, we would do the same here!

    Allez France!

FFS How are you that threatened by a piece of clothing. Whats wrong with them wearing it? Thats really sad that they threw the poor woman out for simplying abiding by her religious and moral beliefs.

Its sad that in France, the land that inspired modern day democracy, that it now resorts to such things as throwing out people for practicing their own beliefs.

There's a poll in the journal that states 73% won't pay the water charge

    http://www.thejournal.ie/poll-will-you-pay-your-water-charge-bill-1267009-Jan2014/

The boards poll says 47% wont pay

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057249879

Another poll saying 30% wont pay the LPT

    http://www.thejournal.ie/property-tax-poll-843172-Mar2013/

Polls are not accurate, I could go to parts of Dublin and depending on the question get polar opposites in terms of results.

My own experience Nodin, in my own country, France. Being told i was a slût and cover up because I was insulting Allah. because I was wearing a mini-skirt, in broad day light in one Paris'suburbs.
The number of posters spouting out multi culturalism rubbish and that have no experience of modern day France is staggering!

    Jesus. H. Christ.

Pew Research Centre conduct public opinion polling, demographic research, media content analysis, and other empirical social science research. It does not take explicit policy positions. They specialise in this area of social science. You don't. Boards doesn't. TheJournal doesn't.

They're dead right, walk into an opera in a Muslim country wearing an mini skirt and see what happens.

So it becomes a pathetic game of tit for tat then? Its amazing how some people think our culture is the best in the world, which to be fair it probably is thanks to democracy, free speech and freedom to practice beliefs without persecution - But they then miss the whole point of our culture and believe we should act how the cultures they despise as a way of treating muslims. Countries such as Saudi Arabia or "Muslim country" as you as you state broadly. These countries have yet to evolve proper democracy's free from local religious boundaries. It will take a lot of them time.

Don't treat ordinary Muslims in a childish "payback" way for the way a select few Middle Eastern governments act. "We wouldn't get away with that over there!" is a very tame, underdeveloped and underthought way of viewing things.

If anybody was going to drag up or mention the water charges it was going to be you. You must have some obsession about it, or have you now moved on to the niqab as flavour of the month?

I wouldn't see any harm in it, the same as i wouldn't see any harm in a woman wearing a veil. I wonder if a bride could be arrested and fined in France if she got caught on the street in her wedding dress with her veil down.
