    Watched the match on TG4.

An absolute breath of fresh air to watch. A load of high ball into the forwards. Forwards getting up for the high ball, catching and scoring. All of the 6 Cork forwards happy to take their scorers. None of this sacrificing a scoring forward for a playmaker bollox. A certain amount of hand passing but none of the tippy tappy passing forwards and backwards l'm used to seeing from Cork football teams for the last 20 Years.

It's a shame we didn't see more of this approach from the senior team as they would have stayed up - they seemed to retreat into their shell as the league progressed.

Now, a lot of that is confidence, no doubt - but also it's the end product delivered by a very talented bunch of forwards. The young no.11 I thought was very effective, but then so were the two wing-halves and the midfield pair looked decent too. I would expect to see a good few breaking into the senior panel next year.

Ladies footballers beat Dublin 1-15 to 0-11 to progress to another league final. Mayo beat Kerry in the other semi

    http://www.setanta.com/no-cork-discipline-issues-lane
Cork chairman Ger Lane has rubbished rumours that breaches of discipline led to the removal of Michael Shields and Ken O'Halloran from the county's senior football squad.

Shields, a two-time All-Star, and goalkeeper O'Halloran were dropped from manager Peadar Healy's panel because the pair had transgressed while at a training camp in Portugal last week, according to reports.

Lane, however, has dismissed the talk of trouble.

“There have been no players dropped for a breach of discipline in Portugal," he told the Irish Independent.

“We had a great week's training, and the lads really applied themselves.”

Cork will play in Division 2 of the National Football League next year, following relegation from the top flight.

In the Munster Senior Football Championship, the Leesiders await the winners of Waterford's preliminary clash with Tipperary.

so have they been dropped for other reasons or not dropped at all?

While O'Halloran got a lot of stick for his kickouts having a static midfield did him no favours, excellent shot stopper too. Sheilds form hasn't been great the last few years but he would surely be worth a spot on the bench. why is it other teams get every last bit from their experienced players yet we are very quick to discard players at an early age?

I suppose with them being dropped immediately after returning from the Portugal trip people were bound to put two and two together. Still shocking news though. The Portugal trip wasn't a "jolly", it was a training camp; maybe to see how fellas were shaping up for the coming championship? If that was the case then obviously O Halloran and Shields didn't pass the Pepsi challenge or something. Managers have to be ruthless I know but I just hope Healy knows what he is doing.

    Hard match to read
    1.nash
    McDonnell cahalane O'Sullivan
    McLoughlin Joyce Murphy
    Kearney Egan
    Lawton cooper Cronin
    Walsh harnedy Cadogan

Walsh played midfield with Egan sweeping cork won easy Clare did not seem to concerned two red cards and plenty of scuffles made it interesting harnedy class

I know what you're thinking. It's John Cronin, not Patrick. He's gone

That was exactly what popped into my head first, thought he was back on panel or something . Only after that I remembered John

Not a lot learned last night vs Clare. Clare had little interest in the game and fielded second string with the exception of Tony Kellys. Bad tempered game all through. David Fitzgerald should have got straight red for seriously dangerous tackle in Cormac Murphy.
Cork opted to go with probably 12/13 of their championship team.
Cadogan standout on the night and Harnedy not far behind. Half forward line of Cooper, Cronin and Lawton only so so. Kearney good in mid field. Backs put under no pressure at any stage. No point really in making serious judgements on anyone given the nature of Clare lineup and approach.
Opportunity missed by Cork to have a look at new panel members.

    Ht 0-07 v 2-05

2-1 by Mayo in injury time. Cork will need to raise their game to win this

The Cork goalkeeper seems very indecisive with his kick outs. Struck me as a weak link early in the game and then gave away a few points with poor kick outs and then fell over for the first goal.
    I missed the second one!

Did Mayo have the wind in the first half? It feels like if Cork get going they will win but they need to start the second half strong.

3 soft goals conceded killing us. Kelleher just got one back, 2 points in it with 15 left

Our keeper will have nightmares about this game. Shocking decision making

    That was the difference today.

Keeper and defenders had very little confidence. Made loads of mistakes.

Hard to believe he is no1 keeper n cork, shocking!

Goalkeeper is a desperate position when things go wrong. He must be of a decent standard to be no.1. Plenty others a fault for the goals, Mayo left run through our defence too easily.

Yes agree with you there, fourth goal was the only one you could really blame on him

Fifth goal was down to him too.Came rushing out to intercept the ball, then realised he wasn't going to make it and back-pedalled.Was stranded at though so all the Mayo lad had to do was fist the ball past him into an empty net.

Agree with you 100%. There were unmarked runners all over the place for some of the goals, plenty of fellows at fault.

Mayo deserved it, they missed about 4 kickable points in the first half before they ever scored a goal.

Congrads to Mayo and we move on. If some players come through great, that's what it's all about for me. These grades should be development squads for me.

. Plenty others a fault for the goals, Mayo left run through our defence too easily.

Cork lads did look good in the tackle out the field, apart from DOC they were physicality well able for Mayo, but things just went wobbly when Mayo got in the danger zone, they were under more pressure kicking for points than goals. Feel sorry for the keeper as Mayo looked flat in the middle when the third goal went in, the whole back line was wobbly.

With senior clubs allowed enter intermediate teams now, what are the eligibility criteria for players for the intermediate teams?
Is it a case of played junior last year, eligible for intermediate this year? Is it possible for a senior club to play several fringe players on the intermediate team to give them game time when they're of a much higher standard?

Have to name i think 15 (or some number) of senior players at the start of the year. They cant play intermediate, even league, then the rest can play with whichever team they want, obviously until they play championship with one.

Thats how it works with teams with Junior clubs anyway. Presume having intermediate is the same
