All of the 6 Cork forwards happy to take their scorers. None of this sacrificing a scoring forward for a playmaker bollox. A certain amount of hand passing but none of the tippy tappy passing forwards and backwards l'm used to seeing from Cork football teams for the last 20 Years.
Cork chairman Ger Lane has rubbished rumours that breaches of discipline led to the removal of Michael Shields and Ken O'Halloran from the county's senior football squad. Shields, a two-time All-Star, and goalkeeper O'Halloran were dropped from manager Peadar Healy's panel because the pair had transgressed while at a training camp in Portugal last week, according to reports. Lane, however, has dismissed the talk of trouble. “There have been no players dropped for a breach of discipline in Portugal," he told the Irish Independent. “We had a great week's training, and the lads really applied themselves.” Cork will play in Division 2 of the National Football League next year, following relegation from the top flight. In the Munster Senior Football Championship, the Leesiders await the winners of Waterford's preliminary clash with Tipperary.
