Ard Scoil Ris will win it handy enough again. Will be interesting to see if they can actually beat one of the Kilkenny teams this time.

They will probably win the harty comfortably enough, cue the Limerick Leader do a 37 page special on how great these boys are , only to lose handy enough to one of the kilkenny schools in the semi or final. Usually what happens alright.

Are Flannans really that bad? got an awful hammering the first day out like.

Ard Scoil aren't likely to be as strong this year, I wouldn't think. Although they still have Ronan Lynch.

Flannan's mightn't have been good but Thurles CBS ran up a huge score, they are sure to be contenders.

Templemore by 3 in what read like a competitive second half. 1 20 to 2 14

Charleville Harty most likely over after 2 defeats

Youghal beat Caimins. Some going for such a small school.

What a crazy statement.. Pobailscoil youghal is one of the biggest schools in cork with brand new facilities and a huge student population... Its catchment area is massive and its the only secondary school in the town now so dosnt have the same competition as fermoy, Middleton, dungarvan etc....youghal, killeagh, St itas, castle martyr, fr o Neill's, clash more, ardmore club men would be making up the majority of their teams.

What...? They have only 2-3 each from all the other clubs you mentioned bar Youghal who are consistently poor underage. The majority of the O'Neills, C'Martyr and Killeagh lads go to Midleton. They don't even have lads from C'Martyr playing ffs. Their representation on Cork underage panels is much smaller than the likes of Midleton, R'Town etc.

Compare their GAA pick to Thurles, ASR, Flannans etc and get back to me.

Im not doubting that the teams Iv mentioned may be poor at supplying players but what I am saying is that as a school they have a huge student population and as schools go compared to other schools close by them are definitely not a "small school" as you originally stated..

Compare youghals pick to dungarvan CBS, clonmel CBS, blackwater cs, St Colman's fermoy. And you might understand where I'm coming from.

    Some interesting results today

Surprised to see Midleton struggle to get over Clonmel in such a low scoring game - although conditions obviously bad with all the rain. - Midleton must have injuries - I know big Dan struggling with his knee, and Shaney Smith had a hand Injury but I thought he was right again but are they missing others ?

Great result for AG although at expense of Colmans and Colmans beat Doon the last day so can't be too shy

Good to see Youghall get the win over Shannon, They have Rochestown next - that seems an even enough group

Then Thurles who ran amok against Flannans just managed to salvage a draw against West Limerick

Nenagh had only Only a point over Dungarvan, and looks like Castletroy finished DLS s chances

So Ard Scoil still looks like the only standout team

Ten minutes left declan dalton got a bad belt ,wasnt intended, was injured but then fine again
Made of strong stuff he is
Was held from play quite well but placed ball was reason they won
With two points up,they dropped him back as a full back sweeper just behind shanagher, knew only goal beat them
He sweeped up two great balls
Man of the match considering he got most of the teams scores

    Connor hennessy youghal
    Chris morrisy youghal
Darragh o brien killeagh plays full back for killeagh got a vital point 1
    Andrew seoige youghal

    Charie bryan ardmore
    David ogbebor st itas
    Emmet barron st itas
    Liam cody youghal

Half time the score was youghal ten caoimhins six
Decalton dalton 5 frees just one wide exhibtion long distance point scoring in that half from both play and placed ball, but mainly placed balls, anywhere within 65 metres.

A great win, youghal top of the group now,but tough games ahead, over relliance on dalton could catch them down the line, rochestown could have too much for them imo with shane kingston also lethal for rochestown
Roceshtown are in their group and while caoimhin will improve after this their st game rochestown should respect both opponents but fear not either of them imo.
Charville are in the group also but after two losses unlilkey to qualify imo.
Rochestown had a,bye this round, level with templemore on 2 pts but a game in hand.
Youghal have four from two games.Likely we get at least one cork team if not two from thos group which is fantastic news for cork hurling

Christy cooney was there at the match also,a real hurling man through and through.Great to see men of hes standing at school games supporting hes own

Great result for youghal, outside of my mom dalton, olliphant in goal, bobby mccarthy at full back, cathal deane and kevin murphy at half back, bobby o halloran,jp lucey at midfied were outstanding.
Cathal Deane at half back,16 only i think ,was supberb, great point from wing back ,is one the cork minor selectors imo should monitor. For caimhins,Shanagher clare minor again next year, mulready, gorman ,and hayes at midfield were very good.
Well done to all on a fine win for Youghal, unbelivable and great to see for such a small school compared to others.Immense credit due.
Caoimhins will improve, and play nice brand, clare style of hurling under kinnerk.

On a side note, Wasnt at yesterdays harty cup game, but tim o mahony newtown got a goal again
In hes last four games, club and school, six goals
The one game he didnt get a goal v rochestown, just played, newtown, tuesday evining but still played well.
Picking a cork minor team now,he has got to be on it,simply has to be, having excelled at school,u 21,held hes own at senior against davy glynn ucc and darren mannix, this lad will only improve.
Watched him since u 13,upward progession.
He has superb hands, strong, pace, hurling,no soft scoring nonense, goal is on he goes for it.
Morrisey limerick minor outstanding all year for them,o mahony, similar player but better than tom,tom is very good thats how good tim is.
He has a steely resolve, hunger, real drive within.
Like pa callaghan, the rare blend of fast tappy skill, but power in the air, pace on the ground, strong on the inside, beaitfuil on the field of play, the new breed of player, cork hurling craves for.A workhorse also but real craft, guile and there is more in him.
Eoghan kinery overage now,is another to watch, real potential, okay v limerick but boxed in at corner forward does not suit hes, style of play.

Anybody know who got ag mhuires two goals please?
Good day again for most cork schools in the harty cup.Well done all.

The AG got to the Dean Ryan final two years ago so I'd imagine they could be darkhorses.

Few of their players had runouts in the Cork SHC this season too so that might stand to them. The lad Dayne Lee looks a seriously dangerous forward.

Student body doesn't mean all that much in GAA terms. More important to look at what clubs are represented, how many and what portion of that club actually attends the school. So the majority of the school pick's from (a) Youghal, who although a senior club and a large town, are typically poor to mediocre underage and (b) St. Itas, the smallest club in East Cork, and one of the smallest in Co. Cork. After that they have a handful each from Fr. O'Neills, Clashmore and Killeagh. Very little depth there, proven by the fact that they have no more than five representatives on past or present Cork Hurling panels, and by the fact that at U-16 level they were hammered in the B competition.

Colmans have the pick of 6-7 teams, not comparable. And again, they are much better represented on Cork panels and strong at all levels.

And by the way, single word, childish replies to posts do not constitute debate. If you disagree with someone's post, by all means debate it with them but any more immature responses will result in infractions.

The key game for Ag mhuire is in two weeks time in Mallow, top of the group clash v Castletroy who beat their young team last year in Mallow, who played just one game but won it.

Ag should be able on paper to win,but it will be very very tough imo.
Lorcan lyons captain Limerick minor, with Barry Nash and Andrew la Touche Cosgrave Limerick minors this year, getting the match ups corrrect will be crucial For Ag Mhuire ,otherwise they will loose imo.

Andrew la Touche Cosgrave must be Marked by Adam O Donovan, and,Eddie Gunning must move out if needs be and mark Barry Nash.
Liam Coughlan battle with Lorcan Lyons at midfield could be epic.
Cosgrave  had played as a roving forward role for monaleen and school and is lethal as a forward but it will be intersting if he drops as a defender. If he does hell strengthen them but weaken the forwards.

Either team could win it ,but with lee,dan gunning, inside and hanafiin they have scoring.

Rochestown should if kingston is avaible beat youghal so you would have two cork teams in that group fighting for two places.

Fixtures all on Cork Thread if you haven't seen them Orizio

AG seem to be having a right cut off it this year, and Castltroy not too shy with 2 Or 3 Limk minors and a good share of their players drawn from Monaleen who are in Intermediate final and Ahane another hurling stronghold

their game tomorrow one of the big clashes

Flannans have fallen some way when they get done on a score like that.

Their pick is now a lot smaller. Had a good Dean Ryan team though.

    from Munster GAA:
The Dr. Harty Cup groups are beginning to take shape after seven games in Round 3 took place on Wednesday.
West Limerick Colleges 3-17 St Flannans Col 0-9
West Limerick Colleges remain undefeated, along with Thurles CBS and Ard Scoil Ris, following their 3-17 to 0-9 victory over winless St. Flannans College. Led by 11 points by Seamus Flanagan, 4 from play, West Limerick Colleges took this game by the scruff of the neck from the start and led by 1-11 to 0-1 after 23 minutes, the goal coming from Cian Magner Flynn. By the interval, the margin was 1-12 to 0-4. The scoring rate in the second half was not as prolific but St. Flannans were unable to make any impression and two late goals by Brian Hurley and sub Luke Ryan ensured a 17 point win for the Limerick amalgamation.
Castletroy CC 2-13 Gaelcolaiste Mhuire AG 0-18
In Group 2, one of the games of the round saw Castletroy CC record their second win against the previously undefeated Gaelcolaiste Mhuire AG, winning by 2-13 to 0-18. There was little between the teams in the opening half with Gaelcolaiste Mhuire AG in front until a 23rd minute Andrew La Touche Cosgrove goal ensured the teams would be level at the interval, 1-7 to 0-10. Eoin Hourigan scored Castletroy’s second goal three minutes in to the second half as the Limerick side raced in to a seven point lead. To their credit, Gaelcolaiste Mhuire AG didn’t throw in the towel and with Daithi Braham and Evan O’Siochan in scoring form up front, they dominated the final stages but were unable to find an equaliser as Castletroy held out for a one point victory.
SNTN Doon 3-17 DLS Waterford 3-10
In the other game in the group, last year’s finalists SNTN Doon kept their hopes of qualification alive with a 3-17 to 3-10 victory over De La Salle Waterford. Doon led by 1-8 to 0-6 at half-time courtesy of a Colin Ryan goal. Though Ryan would score a second goal early in the second half, De La Salle responded with three goals and heading in to the final 10 minutes, Doon led by a single point. However, Doon finished stronger and a goal from Joe Lonergan helped Doon record a 7 point victory.
St. Francis Rochestown 1-18 PS Youghal 1-8
In Group 3, St. Francis Rochestown proved too strong for PS Youghal, winning by 1-18 to 1-8 with man of the match Ciaran Cormack scoring 13 points, 9 from frees. The game was close in the opening stages with Rochestown leading by 0-6 to 0-4 after 20 minutes. However, Youghal dominated the rest of the first half to race in to a 0-13 to 0-6 interval lead.
Youghal needed a goal to get back in to the game and this arrived on 36 minutes courtesy of substitute Brian Lynch. Despite the goal, Rochestown were still finding point scoring easier and when Shane Kingston scored a Rochestown goal midway through the second half, the result was never in doubt.
St Caimins Shannon 2-16 Our Ladys Templemore 1-10
In the other game in this group, St. Caimins Shannon recorded their first win of the campaign when they dominated the final quarter to run out 2-16 to 1-10 winners over Our Ladys Templemore. In a low scoring first half, Caimins recorded the first two scores before Templemore took over, scoring five of the next six points to lead by 0-5 to 0-3 after 18 minutes. Through the accuracy of Aron Shanagher from placed balls, Caimins added four points before the interval to ensure the Shannon team led by 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time. 9 of the 13 first half points came from placed balls with both teams scoring two points each from play.
St. Caimins scored the first 3 points of the second half to stretch their lead to 0-10 to 0-6. However, with Lyndon Fairbrother in good form up front, Templemore went on a 1-4 to 0-1 run, the goal arriving in the 43rd minute courtesy of Fairbrother to race in to a 1-10 to 0-11 lead heading in the final quarter. Caimins scored the next 2 points to level proceedings until the game changed in the 54th minute. A short line ball for Our Ladys didn’t go to plan and with the Templemore defence out of position, St. Caimins took full advantage to engineer a goal finished by Rory Hayes. A quick Caimins point followed before a long ball by Aron Shanagher found Cathaoir Agnew who dispatched the ball to the Templemore net and effectively ended the game as a contest with the Shannon team adding two late points for good measure. Aron Shanagher top scored for Caimins with 7 pointed frees while Ben O’Connor added four points, 2 from play. Lyndon Fairbrother scored 1-5 for Our Ladys with four points coming from frees.
Midleton CBS 3-12 Dungarvan CBS 1-11
In Group 4, Midleton CBS defeated Dungarvan CBS by 3-12 to 1-11. Gary Leahy got Midleton off to a perfect start with an early goal as the Cork side raced in to a seven point lead after 20 minutes. Dungarvan dominated the final stages of the first half with Sean Crotty in good form and by the interval, Midleton’s lead was down to 3, 1-8 to 0-8. Dungarvan dominated the early stages of the second half and despite some early wides, they drew level in the 35th minute when a Darragh Lyons long range free ended up in the Midleton net. Sean Crotty added two further points and Dungarvan now led by 2. Midleton drew level entering the final quarter before the Cork school hit the front again courtesy of a John Looney goal. Midleton never looked back from here with Jack McDonnell adding a third goal to ensure a 7 point victory.
Hamilton HS Bandon 5-13 HS Clonmel 3-13
The other game in the group was the highest scoring match of the day with Hamilton HS Bandon defeating HS Clonmel by 5-13 to 3-13

Is it the top two in each group that go through and does scoring difference come into play?

Good to see from a Limerick POV that Doon, Castletroy and West Limerick are being very competitive. Ardscoil and Thurles next week looks like a crucial game.

What clubs are Flannans picking from now? Are most of east Clare like Clonlara, the bridge and cratloe going to Ardscoil or Camins now? Three very heavy defeats and if Ardscoil need to put up a score they could give them an all merciful hiding.
