Same here, been impressed with the kick passing and the support for the player on the ball.

Tge major difference is the aussies went out actually wanting to win the game

My 26-33 point aussie winning margin bet is starting to look bleak now.

You never know the Aussies might get complacent.

How much money is being wasted in this sh1te by the GAA.

I watched the first quarter and it was a fairly embarrassing effort from Ireland.Completely clueless on how to play the game a bad junior b team would have more organisation and a better game plan than Ireland had in the first quarter.

We'd be better off trying to introduce ways of improving or own game rather than wasting time and effort indulging players wanting to represent their country.

That ball that came off the crossbar was a major turning point.

Actually enjoying watching the Aussies. It hasn't been a hatchet job, their passing and movement are whats causing us problems.

Yup. Pretty much what I said replying to someone on the thread a few weeks back. Australia don't need to physically batter us to be winning easy.

In what? The game? You must be joking.

Its still better than last year's test. It is astonishing though. Our lads are extremely fit and yet look like a junior b team against these athletes.

Your skills are always going to look bad when you're play against guys who are bigger, faster, stronger than you. The fact that they are also brilliant sportsmen means they're going to be able to turn their hand to the round ball easily. They have so much time and such physical superiority it's easy to pick out passes etc. Like a senior GAA team taking on a minor team.

    Very unsurprising tbh.

What do you expect though when Dublin and kerry are barely represented on the team. 2 best teams in the country ffs. Instead we have lads from tier 2 counties bricking it.

and yet all the years they had to resort to beating the crap out of us to win....

Even Hanley looks lost and he mixes it with these guys every week. Preparation is at fault here.

So what do you think, a week with Paul Earley has made Hanley unable to play well?

Ireland are being destroyed by a team of vastly superior sportsmen, that's all.

    Comeback on!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,750 ✭✭✭iDave

Thought that was over the line

    A glimmer of hope maybe.

First bit of composure results in a goal. Ball was out when Hanley passed it along the ground though

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭Hidalgo

    Badly needed goal or under.

Ball looked out though in the build up

No gameplan. It's that simple. Brainless football.

I always feel sorry for the Australian goalkeeper. It must be frustrating to play such an alien position.

What's wrong the Irish lads can't kick the ball properly? There's no excuses like, it's incredible really.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,329 ✭✭✭Daroxtar

1 goal, 1 point and 5 wides. We're taking dire to a new level

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭Hidalgo

We're actually doing ok on kickouts. Ots after that the problems start

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,177 ✭✭✭twinytwo

we need to be playing this quick play, not getting the mark and taking 20 seconds to kick the fecking ball and no one runs into space......

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,378 ✭✭✭robbiezero

A big difference is Australias ability and confidence in taking tackles and "offloading" or handpassing while being tackled. Irish are kicking or getting rid of the ball like frightened rabbits once a hand comes near them.

    Now its competitive.

Moran and McLoughlin doing great stuff around the middle now.

The ball is Different to an O'Neills ball in fairness. So there is a bit of an adjustment needed.

    Much better from us

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭Hidalgo

Much better. McLouglin with a bit of composure to find a teammate.
    Great fetch there by McManus.

Playing much better now, sharper decision making all round. Pity we were such a train wreck at the start.
