St Pats (Lordship) have won the Louth Championship for 6th time beat Dreadnotts (Clogherhead) 1-9 to 1-7

Poor enough game, Drednotts were 1-6 to 1-5 up at HT. Shocking 2nd half

    That's Pats 3rd title in 4 years

Navan O'Mahony's play Wolfe Tones while last year's finalists Na Fianna play Donaghmore/Ashbourne.

Donegal football championship has actually started this weekend :D

Kilcar beating Glenswilly was the big result but it's done on a league groups so plenty of football yet to be played.

That time of year again.... Yea.
Galway..... Big win for corofin v Milltown in semi, something like 4.14 to 2 points.
Mayo final is ballintubber v castlebar, ballintubber scored something like 9.14 in their semifinal today, with all 4 O'Connor brothers scoring goals!
In Roscommon, Bridgets beat Western Gaels I a repeat of last year's final, and await Faithleachs or more likely Padraig Pearses in the final.
In Leitrim, Aughawillin bridged a gap of 20 years today defeating St. mary's in the final today.
In Longford, 2012 winners Killoe face St Collumba (Mullinachta) in the final, in their first final since 1951.

Clare SHC sees Cratloe take on Crusheen in the final and Cratloe are into the football final aswell facing Eire Og. Not sure if the double has been done in Clare before but it would be some achievement to do it.

    Omagh St Enda’s 1-10 Carrickmore 0-12

First County Championship for Omagh in 26 years.

Limerick hurling semi-finals on next weekend:

    Na Piarsaigh vs Ahane
    Doon vs Kilmallock

Na Piarsaigh strong favourites to retain their title, and should beat Ahane comfortably enough. The 2nd semi-final should be a cracker, very hard to call.

    Football final is:

    St Pat's vs Ballylanders

Bit of a novel pairing. Drom/Broadford have been dominant for so long, that it's unusual not to see them there. St. Pat's have been coming on very well last few years, one of the smaller city clubs really.... it's good for GAA in the city that they are doing well. They have a few top junior soccer players playing for them. Ballylanders did win a county a few years back but have faded since... they beat Drom twice this year, so well-deserving of their place. Hard to call, I think I'd just about tip Pats because of their forwards.

All the more impressive considering more than half the team are dual players.

Well they haven't done it yet and on paper they will be favourites to win both I would imagine. Theres something about Crusheen you would have to admire though, there are way more talented teams in the county and they have got to the final meeting almost all of them and they drag them into a dogfight and grind out the win. A very good defensive unit but lacking up front and will most likely be without their best player and former county captain Pat Vaughan after a straight red against Clonlara in the semi. It'll be no walkover anyway. I'm not as well up on the football but Cratloe have been the bench mark this year and last and Eire Og are the closest to them in the county. Wouldn't expect there to be much in it either.

In Wikla it's Bray Emmets vs Glenealy in small ball and St Pats vs Rathnew in a big ball derby

Glenealy and Rathnew the defending champs, with a few players who won both medals last year.

In Carlow it's a repeat of last years final in the SFC. Holders Old Leighlin beat Palatine 2-15 to 1-13 yesterday. Rathvilly beat Tinryland 1-11 to 0-9 in 2nd semi.

Hurling Semis are on next Sunday:
St Mullins Vs Erins Own & then Leinster champions MLR v Naomh Eoin.

A sad Day in Louthh GAA as St Patricks player Eamonn Carroll (33) was killed late last night after getting knocked down less than 36 hours after playing in his teams winning Champ side.

Eamonn has won 6 senior medals (a member of every Pats team to win a senior championship, his first in 2002)

A lovely lad on and off the field..Prayers to all his family, friends and everyone at St Patrick's GFC

    RIP Eamonn

This is the first time in years, that both Alan & Bernard have been available & fully healthy, heading into the business end of the club champo. It will be interesting to see how far Plunketts can progress, with both of them raring to go. Knocking out both Crokes and Ballymun before you even get to the semi's, is seriously impressive. Vinnie's have looked impressive so far, but they haven't really been tested yet, so it's hard to say for sure where they are.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne made it to the final of the Meath SFC for the first time in nearly 70 years by beating Na Fianna 2-14 to 12 points this evening. Na Fianna missed a penalty and ended the game with 12 men.

This is a great thread. Love to hear about random county championships, teams reaching their first county final etc

On that note, Mullinalaghta are looking to win the Longford championship for the first time in 54 years today.

St Faitleachs (Ballyleague) have the unenviable task of facing a St Bridgets side going for 5 Roscommon titles in a row, after defeating Padraig Pearses in a tense and low scoring semi final last night. Game notable for some strange refereeing decisions throughout the 2nd half in particular, and the setting on of said referee by a rabid pack of Pearses players and officials on the final whistle, in which he appeared to be knocked to the ground from my vantage point.

Would have been serious questions had they not made the final this year. They've underachieved in recent seasons.

They'll play Navan O'Mahony's in the final. NOM beat Wolfe Tones 1-13 to 10 points today. They were in a bit of trouble in the second half when they were 9 points to 6 down with 20 minutes to go but comfortably won in the end.

Bray Emmets defeated Glenealy by 1 pt in the Wicklow SHC final today. Stopped Glenealy making it 5 in-a-row and have broken the Glenealy & Carnew dominance in Wicklow hurling. John Henderson (ex Kilkenny) is Bray's manager and has a son on the team.

In todays Dublin SFC quarters, Boden beat Lucan & St Judes beat Brigids (bit of an upset there, Brigids were one of the favs.)

So the semifinals in 2 weeks time, are Vincents v Boden & Plunketts v Judes

Shelmaliers vs St Annes in the Wexford SHC final. Both clubs are still in the SFC race too with quarter finals to look forward to.

I know there's a lot of football to be played yet, but the last time St.Anne's won the double (2000), Kerry and Kilkenny were All Ireland champions and Real Madrid won the Champions League.

Quarter finals next week will be interesting. Both Shels and Anne's will be favourites in their respective quarters but both may sub-consciously have an eye on the hurling final the following week. Both in local derbies too were anything can happen.

Gusserane and Horeswood is the pick of the quarter final pairings for me. Horeswood have PJ back and will be that bit stronger for it, but I have been mightily impressed with Gusserane this year (they have drawn with both Anne's and Martin's) and just think they are in better form heading into it.

Martins and Castletown resume what's become a recent rivalry and it kickstarts the weekend being under the lights on Friday. Not going to speculate on it at all though given my username indicates my loyalties :D

Thurles Sarsfields v Drom / Inch in last 16 in Tipperary. Massive game for the 2 favourites for the county title.

Next Sunday in Semple Stadium @ 4pm, be a game worth going to for anyone around.

It won't be - Tipp board prioritizing the hurling as its closer to being finished, should be down to last 16 this weekend, bar draws, if that happens they are in trouble. Don't think they took the dual players into consideration, which has caused hassle. The quote I got was that it would be a massive miracle if the football championship was down to the last 12 by November

St.Anne's and Shelmaliers are a novel pairing in Wexford's senior hurling final this Sunday. Play each other in the senior football semi finals the following Sunday. Will be black sick of the sight of each other!

Incidentally, the last final between two teams from the Wexford district was played in 1904 (played in January 1905) when Castlebridge (Shelmaliers are the current guise) beat Crossabeg Ballymurn!! Insane stat when you think about the number of clubs in the district now, and it's population density in general

Senior Club Championship Final on here tomorrow

    Dr Crokes V Legion

The winners will be hoping that Mid Kerry will beat the Stacks in the County Final so they can then be Kerry's representives in Munster, cant see the Crokes been beaten again by Legion, they met earleir in the County Championship and Legion came out on top, might see the Gooch play some part.

Intermediate Club Final on as well

    Spa V Ardfert

Two teams that have made the All Ireland Finals in the past,Spa been runners up in 2010 and Ardfert putting back to back All Irelands winning both Junior and Intermediate All Irelands in 06 and 07,Spa are in Division 2 of the County League while Ardfert have slipped down to Division 3 but are still a dangerous team when it comes to Championship.

Spa have a young and lively team that will test Ardfert who like to slow the game the down and try and use their physical strength so it has the makings of a clash between two contrasting styles of play,Its a hard one to call as there wont be much between the sides,I just think Spa will just about get the win but I would rule out this been a draw as well.

Also seen this, bit of a laugh but all fairly spot on :)

you think he'd be better off waiting until the new year to make a comeback. although if crokes are in the munster championship it'll be hard for him not to come back.

Id imagine that there would be a few folks none to happy if Crokes ended up in Munster again after the poor year they have had.
Failed to win the AI after them being strong favorites from the minute they won Kerry, and then losing both championship games to other club teams.

    But them is the rules.

Dublin SFC semis were on today.

Plunkett's beat Jude's 1-11 to 0-4. Rather defensive affair. Kev Mc was very well marshaled. Once he was kept quiet, that was pretty much it for Judes.

Vincents beat Boden 1-17 to 1-10

So that's a Berno vs Dermo final. Tasty ! :D

Berno had three men dragging out of him for most of the day and he still got 1-3. Would have been more but for the keeper and Nesty Smith taking the frees and 45's.

Dermo was Dermo. Got summit like 1-5/1-6.
