The scene could easily have been played with a nod and a wink but it just came across as crass and in poor taste. It felt out of place and was completely unnecessary.

Except their execution of the scene rendered moot any attempt to make light of these ideas.

I don't really agree, the whole film was very self aware and the scene was clearly not meant to be taken seriously. They could have left out the gratuitious ass shot though to be fair.

Enjoyed the film but completely agree. That last scene almost ruins the whole film. I'd have been impressed if she got him to open the door only to clobber him on the head or something.

It was sexist and offensive. Reducing 'the princess of Norway' to someone whose only worth was to be his Anal sex reward. Really let down what was a fantastically fun film otherwise.

Its taking the piss out of the typical Bond girl who often is just a sex object and not much else.

Saw this a couple of nights ago and it was hilarious. Some absolutely ridiculous scenes though.

    Also, I LOVE Colin Firth!!

But she just ended up being a typical bond girl. There was nothing especially satirical about the way she was written or portrayed. I wasn't overly offended by the joke myself but it did feel out of place.

I never batted an eyelid at the final scene

I think most people got that, it was so on the nose that it felt like the film was screaming that you notice it. The final gag could have worked but it was so witless and on the nose that it just came across as a desperate attempt at being witty.

I had to order the U.S. blu Ray of this, I skipped it in theatres because they cut it down for a 15 and then they didn't even bother putting the uncut version on blu ray over here. Infuriating.

It came across more as a nod and a wink to the teenage-boy pornhub-reared generation that the film was aimed at rather than a satirical swipe at 1970's Bond movies.

It was crass, vulgar and a poor choice of scene to end what had been a reasonably fun and frothy film.

Terrible film. SLJ is just a parody of himself in it. Most of the scenes are ridiculous.

i don't see how anyone could take the final scene seriously, it was so obviously pulling the piss out of the whole "Bond Girl" thing..

Do you mean to suggest you took the rest of the film seriously?

Was the end scene the only part you thought was taking the piss out of Bond?

    Thats the point.
Most of the scenes are ridiculous.

    Well duh!

I'm flattered by your interest in what I thought syklops
Like I said the end scene was pulling the piss out of the whole "Bond GIRLS" tradition- which is what the conversation in this thread was centered on when I replied
Of course there were constant references to Bond movies that they were parodying throughout

    Ms

Thought this film was very good and funny when I seen it in the cinema 3 years ago. Am really looking forward to the next film coming out in September.
