First bit of good news for the day, the Accord I'm going to look at is still available so I'm going to see it on Saturday (fingers crossed some cnut doesn't take it in the mean time).
Does anyone know what to look out for with these cars? It's a 04 and with just over 100k. I know about the manifold issue and to try and smell any fumes in the cabin. Anything else?

Don't know, a quick look on DD you can get cheaper ones. Of course with a bit more km on the clock.

both private deals though. surely to spend around €1k more at a dealer isn't unrealistic? assuming it was a dealer purchase.

The fear has set in. A mammy in the car space next to me has pulled up silly close. Car full of kids and child seats she is currently on the phone before getting out. Do I move now or risk a door battle?!

On another note, brimmed the car again (expensive week) after 237 miles since tuesdays fill. The needle didnt move until about 90 miles on the trip. Mostly motorway driving with a few overtakes on normal roads, so nothing excessive. Took 34 litres to fill, works out at 31mpg...

So just as I expected, no difference so far (actually slightly better as the needle would move after 75-80 miles on maxol)

Still many miles to put up! :p

Fit some led bulbs in the numberplate lights on the car. Left one went in, worked no issues. When I put the right in, they blinked when the car started... but nothing after. It doesn't like them. The old bulbs went back in. :(

Surely there would be some insurance issues for the drivers there

Canbus system on it? Might need different bulbs. Cheap on eBay or if another FIAT had led bulbs and see if the light unit is a straight swap over.

Yeah, seems to be the case. Apparently the interior lights are ok for non-canbus. I'll try use one of these in the interior light. It uses the same bulb.

How long is a piece of string?

I'm guessing the donations will be less than the amount the owners spend on petrol.

    Fair play though.

Twice as long as half its length

It's not for commercial purposes, it should be covered under normal policies.

    The drivers aren't benefitting.

It's being offered to the public however so surely someone (drivers or organisers) would have to have public liability.

I don't know. I know that if I take students in my car my insurance is a very grey area (going to a match etc)

I'm not an expert in the area I just imagined it would be a dicey area for insurance.

Got a letter in the post from the Peugeot dealer we bought off saying that they are running low on second hand stock and they want our 206. They said to ring them/drop in for a free, no obligation valuation. No mention of any deals on a new car, although I'm assuming that's what their main objective is? Tempted to see what they'd give. Doesn't matter really, it's moving on to the new owner on Sunday.

I am in shohans waiting for the exhaust to be fitted. The boo boys in their german saloons are really noticable here in trim compared to dublin. Its so funny.
