Damn, I thought this was going to be an expose of some sort of cunning plot to rule the interwebz..or that they were going broke and people had come for the telly. BORING.

Do the mods know that the cat mods have a secret forum?

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,417 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

    Yes

To discuss moderation issues like how to use moderation tools, to look for support and queries.

You sound like a hostage being forced to read s script.

It's all true OP. There's also a secret mod forum called "Heaven & Hell" where mods decide who goes where in the afterlife.

Drives the A&A mods mad though.
It was hardly a secret that there was a mods forum in fairness

7 mods have posted in less than 15 mins... Prepare for a site crash

I think they have their own forum just about me.

The only thing the mod forum is guilty of is the same thing every private forum is guilty of. You've been fed false info op. ;)

First rule of the mod forum is you do not talk about the mod forum.
Second rule of the mod forum is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE MOD FORUM!

    oh well...

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Which is...? I remember there was a thread in feedback not too recently about posters talking about other posters in private forums.

At least now we know that a private mod forum exists. The lack of transparency is worrying however. Some people can allow their biases to affect their judgement when moderating emotive threads.

The best part about the mod forum is REDACTED

3rd rule: If someone posts "Y**e M@" their Boards life is over
4th rule: Only two mods to a ban hammer fight
5th rule: One ban hammer fight at a time
6th rule: No life, no relationships
7th rule: Mods will ban as long as they have no life
8th rule: If this is your first day of modding, you have to ban peasants.

Worrying revelation about boards... it's not free.

You pay for it using your personal data, browsing history, and god knows what...

Boards have more information on you than the CIA, MI5, Tesco.
They know you better than your own mother.
They know what you had for breakfast.
They saw you knocking one out before you didn't wash your hands and went to the dinner table regardless.

Lack of transparency? LOL. You obviously missed out on the ACT thing a few years ago.

As regards lack of transparency, the existence of mod, CMod and admin forums is hardly news to the vast majority of Boards members. It may be to you, but to be fair you only signed up 3 weeks ago. As has already been stated, the forums are used to discuss site issues, share information on various modding tools, decide on new mods, review potential legal issues that could affect the site, and hundreds of other things that a) don't concern the vast majority of people on the site; and b) would probably be of little interest to them anyway. There are also a large number of private non-mod forums on Boards, should we be worried about the lack of transparency from them too?

you would need to be very naive to think that it is not true.

Well not the scheming to ban people. People get banned due to their own behaviour, nobody needs to scheme to have them banned.
But talking about really troublesome users - yeh I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case. Not exactly unreasonable either, IMO.
