There is the problem you were using toolkit. Flash a custom recovery like TWRP and away you go.

What, you download and extract a folder to your desktop and a few commands, couldn't be more simple, just copy and paste the commands

All irrelevant now anyway as when I get my S7, the Mrs is getting my G4 and the OPO is going in a drawer. I'll keep it up to date if a Cyanogen update ever arrives for them.

So are you saying that the G4 is better than the OPO? Interesting.
    (I have neither)

Anyone on the CM13 nightly, how's the battery performance? Did Doze make any noticeable difference?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

I've been using Sultans variant on CM13 since early Jan.

Battery is great I find, but about a month ago he turned off doze by default in the ROM (can still be turned in the menus). It was messing with apps like Gmail, putting them in deep sleep and you wouldn't get any notifications as a result!

I've had no problems since not using doze and battery is practically the same from my own experience.

On CM12.1 I was only getting to 5pm before a low batt warning, but on CM13 I've 30 - 50% left by the end of the day depending on usage.

I did state here before though, that I've a much smaller footprint of apps on this ROM 70 - 80 rather than the 200 plus I had before, so that may be the difference entirely.

    *your results may vary :P

    Guys,

Over the last few days my battery performance has just plummeted. I thought I must be running something hungry in the background but as you can see from the screenshots below, I used the device very little this morning and I'm already down to 66% with only 4 hours left until I get to 0%.

    I'm on 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL with TWRP V 2.8.7.0

    Any suggestions?

You've a wake lock, tap in to some of the apps in the list to see which, it should be showing as a keep awake time equating to how long the phone as been off charge, about 2 hrs of whatever so far. It's probably play services.

Thanks Sentient, if I find a wakelock how/can I disable it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,777 ✭✭✭sentient_6

There's a way to deny it out right under privacy guard i think, but that doesn't actually fix the problem, for instance if its play services that needs to wake regularly as a natural occurrence for google syncing etc. It's like cutting off your leg after a sprain.

Id try wiping cache first, then uninstalling and reinstalling play services.

Also is your rom up to date?

It could be an app you installed lately, or even an app that has updated.

Download "wake lock detector" and "better battery stats" and try pinpoint the rogue app.

Also if you have Facebook app installed try unintelligible it to see if it makes any difference.

    Thanks guys,

Just thought I'd update how I got on.

I removed "Office" app, uninstalled "Gmail" all together as it was the Gmail wakelock which was most active even though I don't actually use Gmail and use Boxer email instead, same with Facebook (although I'll probably re-install) and cleared Cache using TWRP (should I have also cleared Dalvik Cache?) and the upshot is an amazing impact on battery performance which you can see below. Previously I was getting 8 hours from full charge to zero and now I've 73% battery left after 9.5 hours use.

Major transformation. Thanks for the tips. BTW the GSam battery monitor, Wakelock Detector Free and Greenify apps are all helpful to identify the culprits who are draining your battery.

    Hi guys,

Having a similar problem here. One is just under a year old. Battery within expected range up until 2 days ago when it just went crazy.

Rapidly discharging battery, extremely hot, and slow charging. At one point I was given 14 hours to fully charge from 50%, getting about 4 hours from a full charge.

I rebooted multiple times, turned off location services and performed a factory reset last night, but no change.

I'm hoping someone here can interpret the data I've pulled together from various apps I've seen mentioned. Nightmare!

Not sure if that image link is working? I can't see it anyway...

Out of interest, how did you get that 'Wake lock Detail' in GSam? I've had Pro installed for over a year and never seen it on mine.

I think you need to be rooted to get that detail, that comes from the root companion app.

Finally got my images working, if anyone can shed some light it would be amazing.

BTW I got in touch with OnePlus support who want to book in a remote session, anyone done this before?

I'm going to have to start using an iPhone short-term if I don't get this sorted soon so please help me avoid that!

I had the same problem last week. Battery went from comfortably lasting an entire day to losing 50% charge in 3-4 hours. The phone was also hot to touch. Google play services was the culprit. I followed the advice on a Oneplusone forum and uninstalled google play services and reinstalled it again.

This week I have 30% left on my battery at the end of the day and google play services is only consuming 1% of the battery.

Hope it works out for you.

Thanks for this, I actually tried that yesterday and it hasn't made a difference, I've been scouring every forum for anything that might help!

I've also noticed an odd thing with emails, instead of getting just one notification noise as I would previously, the phone keeps repeatedly notifying me until I dismiss the notification, anyone else encountered this?

Can you tell me what version of Play Services you have? I'm on 8.7.03

Also are you running Cyanogen OS or Oxygen?
    I'm on Cyanogen OS 12.1.1-YOG7DAS2K1

    Here's my latest wakelock info:

    Thanks for the help!

Sorry to hear that didn't work. I'm using the very same version of Google Play Services and the same version of Cyanogen as you. I also have the "360 Security" App installed which I use to kill apps draining my phone about once per day but really doubt that would make a difference.

I've had my phone unplugged since 8 am and still 83% remaining. Android System and Google Play service both just responsible for 1% of battery usage.

Since the reinstallation of google play services my phone is operating as good as the day I bought it, if not better. I currently have it 13 months.

I'm incredibly jealous, I love this phone but it's practically unusable right now. I'm going to try uninstalling Play Services again this evening and see if it anything changes.

The only difference between the 2 problems is that yours is showing android system draining alot of the battery. This didn't show up as a problem for me last week. It was just google services draining 10% of the battery although in reality it was alot more than that.
