Just looked here and everybody seems to think that Ireland's soccer team is below average. If we are including every country in the world as the OP indicated, we are miles above average

Well OP go off to California or Australia or some place like that, I kinda like this average place myself.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Germany is more exciting than Ireland. Yeah the people lack humor

Limerick gave itself a bad name you can't blame the rest of Ireland for that

What a retarded thing to say
Nobody is blaming the rest of Ireland for anything

The Dublin media compounded Limerick's earlier problems with disproportionate reporting.
However recent crime statistics regarding incidents involving tourists paint Limerick in a very favourable light compared with the capital and that's obviously taking the difference in size/population into account.

The shoe is most definitely on the other foot now.

I thought this was a debate about how Ireland compares to other countries.
I live abroad and can see the good and not so good things about Ireland looking back.
I'm proud of where I've come from but I like where I live too.
Some good points on both sides here IMO

Ireland is so average. And we can only call it average if we include all third world countries.

Is there anything about Ireland that anyone can say is better than elsewhere? Above average?

Welfare system and PS pay and pensions.....

Pretty much average as well compared to other countries.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

It's all about perspective. You're just used to Ireland.

If you're not it's like fecking magic hobbit land compete with fluffy green grass and rainbows and super-friendly locals who, incidentally, don't look like hobbits.

I don't think we realise how intensely green it is either. It nearly hurts your eyes if you're used to a more "normal" landscape that's got a lot more brown in the pallet of colours.

Most places that you actually live in become mundane to you eventually.
