European Cups, Domestic Cups and Internationals Thread

Like last season a thread to keep track of the various cups European and Domestic relevant to EPL - teams, scorers etc.

Hull play their 2nd leg tonight of a Europa League qualifier, its at home and 0-0 after the first leg against AC Trencin of Slovakia. Pretty important a if Hull dont get through to the group stage of the EL it will massively reduce the rotation risk of some players. Interestingly the line up does not contain Jelavic for the second week in a row (he got 5 mins at the end of the first leg), and Robbie Brady (remember him) starts

Hull City Starting XI: McGregor, Bruce, Chester, Davies, Elmohamady, Brady, Huddlestone, Snodgrass, Livermore, Sagbo, Long

3 5 2 by the looks of it with Brady wing back.

I can see that being the starting team with Jelavic in for Sagbo.

Bruce said last week that he was reluctant to play Jelavic or Figueroa straight away due to their World Cup excursions. They obviously also missed Hull's pre-season trip to Portugal too.

I'd be very cautious of Jelavic at the beginning as I reckon Bruce will ease him back.

I was looking more towards Fletcher now to be honest. That doesn't look a great idea either.

Could be Bojan yet! I still think he could be Hughes' next Benni or Roque. He may have flopped at some top clubs but he at least featured for them which is more than the other 6 mil strikers.

Hull 1-0 down in the first few mins, rotation could be a much lower factor for them yet...

I'd prefer to see them out of it. I'm sure Bruce may secretly feel the same after seeing how other clubs have struggled in recent years.

It never seemed to trouble Hughes too much at Blackburn in the past when we went out in the first round.

    Elmohamady equaliser for Hull

Rosenoir on for Brady 56 min and Ince on for Bruce 66 min. Jelavic not even on the bench tonight

Looks like Bruce is a runner for the 4m defence filler list.

Aluko goal 2-1 Hull. He came on for Shane Long on 74 mins

Ramsey sent off for a second yellow. Does that make him more or less likely to get a brace against Everton? :P

No but he will get a nice rest next week before the Leicester match!!

Excellent! Hoping for something from him this weekend!

Edit: Also interesting that Rose is on the bench and Davies plays - you would assume Rose will hold his place for the weekend then...

    Lamela on the bench too.

for those who took a punt on him, i'd say he'll now start at the weekend again.

Of more relevance from this game is if Spurs lose. If they do, you would imagine they'll put out a more or less full-strength side for the return leg this day next week, less than 3 days before they face Liverpool

    Soldado goal makes it 1-1

Lamela assist just after coming on as sub

    Kane goal 2-1, Soldado assist

Edit - correction Lamela assist it seems, made quite the impression since coming on

Lamela was superb for his 20 minutes this evening.

    2 assists and could've scored 2 himself.

Lovely, Siggy is on the bench.

Remember when Demel was a FF god? 4.0 defender, regular starter, plenty of clean sheets. Sigh!! Good times.

A strong Newcastle team. Where does that put De Jong - centre mid or "in the hole"?

As someone currently working on a wildcard I suppose it is in my interest to see as many serious injuries as possible midweek. It's terribly sad really, if I was to hear that Siggurdsson received a career threatening injury my first thought would be about what a stroke of luck that is that everybody else will have to waste a transfer.

That's a full strength Soton lineup with two exceptions, two former forum darlings as well, I wonder is Koeman a regular on here, having a wind up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

West Brom (v Oxford) West Brom: Myhill, Wisdom, Dawson, McAuley, Davidson, Yacob, Baird, Berahino, Sessegnon, Brunt, Ideye. Subs: Foster, Olsson, Morrison, Gamboa, O'Neil, Mulumbu, Roofe.
