English pundit in Sky (didn't get her name) has a bit of gall, questioning the Irish try and the ref motives but ignoring anything that went in England's favour.

Don't mean to go all Niamh Hogan here, but Megan Murrieta (Canadian pundit)... looking well!

England are great going in to contact. Recycling the ball so fast.

Briggs obviously feeling the pressure with 2 high profile errors, both leading to scores. But the side as a whole haven't performed well enough. The pack has been second best by a distance and the defence hasn't been tight enough. Just look at the Irish line. It's really unstructured and England are making hay.

Midfield defence has been so porous

Thinks that's it. An Irish 7 pointer would have made a game of it, but with 15 needed to go ahead now I don't see it happening.

IMO they were shooting up so fast that a change of direction was going to totally wrong foot them.

Great body position but what were we doing trying to push her off. Corkscrew girls, corkscrew!

Why don't they try a short restart? keep on kicking it long giving England possession.

I think they were hoping Alphonsi was going to fall over instead of smashing her off that ball. It is not looking good at all.

    C'mon early score give everything.

That last phase told it all.
We finally get the ball back at midfield from an English kick.
We lose it in the next contact phase.
Some pressure the English are putting us under.

Breakdown from England is excellent. Two penalties there, one an Irish mistake (not releasing) and one just the English player just locked onto the ball like a limpet (holding on). Tough to play against that.

Hmm. Will be hard to come back from this, all the momentum with England and they are lethal in midfield.

Not through the f-ing gate ref!

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,353 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

    In the side surely...

2 in a row awful efforts at clearing out, she wasn't even well balanced.

  • Administrators Posts: 53,659 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Penalty the wrong way there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,745 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

They want to put a score on us. They may well....

Well thats it then ii reckon. I was at the NZ match and got chatting to an english guy who was involved with the u20s set up over there. he said it it would be an England v France Final... Looks like he will be right cause I don't see Canada beating France

    Good try, in fairness.

Horrible way to end what has been a great tournament for Ireland.

There's still the 3rd place match after this

England, a far more powerful team...Ireland are gutsy and that could be the one factor that stops this becoming embarrassing

Have Ireland choked though? I don't think England would have expected to win a semi final by a 20 point margin (or more)

England seem to be carrying far greater speed & strength into the tackle.
Every attack is bringing them a score/penalty.

Referee doesn't seem to want competition at the breakdown, always siding with the team with the ball.
