I heard an operatic version of Stand Up And Fight the other day. Surprisingly good.

    ? It's from Bizet's Carmen...which is an opera

Article in the guardian about the demise of Union in australia. It already struggled against cricket, aussie rules and league but now hockey, netball, basketball, tennis and especially soccer are/have overtaking union.

I found the article on twitter. Sonja McLaughlin has a link on her feed.

Very surprised he came out and admitted it. Massive failure in protocol at the very least for a concussed player with a bad history to be returned to action like that.

It will be interesting to see what action is taken, if any.

    Protocol failure though ?

Does it not mean that the whole HIA assessment is a farce. It was indeed plain to all on the replay that he was knocked out. And so concussed. And they say had they seen that replay they would have withdrawn him. So the test did not detect that he had been knocked out - and North didnt say so either we can guess.
So has the HIA any credibility at all if it can let a knocked out player back on the pitch ?

Its Munster fans' tribute to French rugby whether they are playing a French team or not.

"‘He’s been to see the specialist. He’s been fine all week, he was fine actually soon as the incident occurred.
"We said before, he was talking as soon as the physio got to him, he was fine… there wasn’t an issue. He has had no symptoms of concussion."

Yet withdrawn from playing Leinster. Mmmmm. Whole lot of logic going on there.

SOB failed his HIA after Hartley tried to decapitate him. So did they even do a proper check or it is possible that his concussion was mild enough that he was able to answer the questions clearly.

Medical professionals have said repeatedly that the HIA has no real medical basis. This is not news. The nature of concussion makes it impossible to make any definitive calls in the space of 10 minutes. If someone is very clearly out of it you don't really need to ask them anything to see it. Think of Giteau wandering off down the pitch away from the direction the play was going. Very obviously something wrong there. Players can be knocked out and show no imidiate side effects. It's completely possible they could pass a HIA. The problem is when a medical team, or the coaching team, decide that the HIA is the only tool they use for deciding if a player should play or not.

With the recent North incident I'll buy that the medical team didn't see him unconscious on the pitch and that they didn't have access to the replays. I won't buy that not one single person involved in the Northampton set up saw him unconscious on the pitch, either in real time or on the replays.

Got tickets for the pro 12 final next May for myself and the family for Xmas. Front row upper south stand €38.5 each not bad

It's a gamble of will it be an all Irish final, 1 Irish team or no Irish team final. Treviso vs Edinburgh final lol

I'm making an early prediction of Munster v Leinster.

I've just watched it again and the medical team are on the pitch within seconds of him going down. I don't know how they decided he was ok. Totally agree that it is complete rubbish that nobody saw him sparked out, it's an embarrassing defence from NH.

Northampton seems tailor made for Lancaster to do a culture change job. It's only a couple of hours down the road from Leeds too so wouldn't be surprised to see him go there.

Reckon it'll all hinge on the 6 nations - most English seem to rate Mako over McGrath at the moment

In fairness Mako is brilliant the loose. He has that experience also.

He's no more experience than McGrath does.

Well that's not true anyway. He has a particularly relevant bit of experience that McGrath doesn't have.

I think he swore and the ref cautioned him for it. It was the "suggestive hand moving gestures" he made walking away that has gotten him in trouble. In fact Wales Online were reporting that the club are considering taking action themselves.

He'd fit in at Northampton with that attitude

Yeah, any club that suggests sacking a player for that gesture needs to spend some serious time in the real world
