Anyone here doing some preseason prep for the upcoming FF season?

With the fixtures being unveiled today I reckon 3 Man United players from the start will be the way to go. Hopefully RVP will be somewhat cheaper than last season.

Have my eye on including De Gea, Fabregas, Sterling, Januzaj, Costa, RVP & Aguero in my intial team anyway

Just for FSA FPL purposes is there a date up anywhere for the new site going up?

I remember last year I think I had Rat and Lugano in my defence. Bastards the pair of them!

It's normally about a week into July I think.

Good luck with this. By my calculations you'd only have about 35m left for your remaining 8 players!:pac:

Dont know how you've calculations when there are no prices available for the players yet!

I'll pick a quick team and then leave it until about 5 days before. That's the only way to do it IMO. There are too many variables in pre season e.g. last year the Bale saga.

    Educated guesses:

    De Gea - 6m
    Fabregas - 9m
    Sterling - 7m
    Januzaj - 6m
    Costa - 10.5m
    RVP - 13m
    Aguero - 12.5m

It isn't difficult to know what a players approximate value will be. I doubt I will be far out at 65m!

No need to worry about Suarez for GW1 anyways. All eyes on RVP.

    Choo choo!!!

Sturridge looks a good option now. An early break from the World Cup too ;)

I'll be keeping an eye on Fabregas and Costa.

Not much because nobody will have signed him in the first place!!

I wonder will this effect his price for the season though. He was set to be 12 or 13 million I thought but may be 11 now because he misses the first nine games.

I reckon RVP will drop back from last season which could be good because he'll improve playing under van Gaal. Once the injuries don't take their toll. Word has it Rooney may be moved to midfield to allow Mata to play behind RVP.

Think initial price is just based on performance in previous years or if a new player estimated performance, as far as I'm aware injuries/suspensions arent taken into account

Oh yeah, this definitely makes the Lambert signing seem alot more sensible than it did previously.

Shaw at United could be worthwhile although he may be ~6M.

Imagine Coleman will be ~7M i'd imagine following last years performance.

Anyone know what kinda player Herrara is? goalscoring midfielder?

Not really. He'll play ahead of the defense in a 4-2-3-1. He scored 5 last year.

Shaw still has Evra to contend with, making him very risky

You'd have to think he's first choice though. United wouldn't pay all that much for a player if he was going to play second fiddle to a player nearing the end of his career.

Shaw has taken Evra's shirt no. (#3) - He's hardly going to sit on the bench wearing the starting jersey.

Too much risk of rotation though. The papers are linking United with a few defenders too. One of the Dutch lads, De Vriejs (sp?), is being linked today. Apparently Vidic's replacement.

I haven't heard anything about Shaw taking 3 (and I'd be stunned if that was the case tbh), but even if true, Shaw won't start every game IMO.

Methinks he changed his twitter to @lukeshaw3 or something like that.

Shaw may get more games than Evra, but I think the % will be so low that neither are an option, barring injury to one. At least for the first few months.

Yeah I think he's future proofing the ol' twitter account. He'll get 3 when Evra goes.

Lallana to Liverpool. Might be an option is the price is right.

Liverpool have alot of midfield options now though. Last season Coutinho couldn't even get a regular game. Rodgers is building his squad with the CL in mind.

I also worry about players like Lallana. He was the centre of everything at Southampton but he won't get a system like that at Liverpool where he's just another player.

Looks like Suarez is Barca bound if all the reports are to be believed.

I think RVP but Fabregas/Costa could be there or thereabouts.

Erikson @ Spurs under Pocettino should do a job.

Suarez leaving and Aguero being a walking injury makes everything fascinating once more.

Dzeko could be a decent option but his price will be up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,295 ✭✭✭slingerz

Sturridge will be Liverpool's main man now i reckon.

Got to have 3 United players in from the start

De Gea and RVP are certs anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

Keep an eye on Mata too. Start to hit goalscoring form after his January move, and even scored in his World cup game. Could be a very decent shout.

Word has it van Gaal will push Rooney back to midfield and play RVP and Mata in their preferred positions.

Any thoughts on Sanchez and his possible valuation now that he looks on his way to Arsenal?

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,238 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Reckon we could see the site up soon. Was about the 17th of July last year I think. Might throw it up next week after the World Cup.

Sanchez could be a good option, though initial value will decide whether I include him from the start or not.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,583 ✭✭✭NoviGlitzko

Sanchez will be 10.0 my guess. Shaw 6.0, Herrera 7.5. Will be interesting to see what they have Suarez at if he's still there.

My forward line will be RVP, Aguero, Sturridge. Not mad or anything, but solid non-the-less.

Aguero to be 12.5, RVP to be 11.5, Sturridge to be 11.0.

After Holland's first game against spain, I thought I'd definitely be getting RVP. But now I'm not so sure. Not sure how positive Van Gaals tactics will be. On the other hand, RVP will definitely be the main man in that team.

Aguero is also a tricky one. 3 injuries last year (and 1 knock in the WC!). He's very injury prone, and a lot of transfer could be used up transferring him in and out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,264 ✭✭✭✭manual_man

So much up in the air again, good chance WC will be needed early when regular starters and their positions are established, a lot of signings already and more due once the World Cup is done and dusted you'd imagine. A few players on my mind already, I think Costa will settle in quickly at Chelsea, Sturridge seems a no brainer but now there's talk of Bony coming in... RVP has the talent but does he have the legs... Aguero's legs... Giroud could be a fantastic call if he remains the main man, Sanchez supplying balls as well as all the creative talent already there... Debuchy would be great at RB if they buy him too I think...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

I'd say it will take longer to get the site up this year with the introduction of ultimate fpl.

the question is will anyone buy Augero for the ultimate league with his recent injury record.
