I am re-reading the thread as well and a few thoughts.

    Firstly:
Amdublin brings me nothing but BAD LUCK :mad:
Eh hellooooo. I wasn't even on the thread at this point and my good name was being bandied around.

It was a bad bad show to finish on from what I saw.
Louis Walsh and his latest "boys". Seriously???
I liked the apres match fella and then the real Bill. But they could have done an extra ten/15 minutes with Bill it was good but really short.
Dolores - typical misery section. Cheers lls producers.
Porn/orgy/sex lady - we are now at the place that the lls is giving free advertising to porn parties.

    Really Tubs? Really??!!!!!!

Bizarre, wasn't it? Audience looked distinctly uncomfortable and unimpressed as well. I know we're all supposed to be super liberal and cool about anything to do with sex these days, but an awful lot of people aren't. Would have been nice if Tubs had at least attempted to challenge her on the morality of this carry on, never mind the health risks, instead of portraying it as a perfectly normal activity and great craic altogether. Maybe it is normal for RTE types but there certainly aren't regular gangbangs in every parish in the land.

I agree, it was almost like an infomercial.

Really enjoyed this thread all year - mostly on Saturdays tho.
    Have a lovely summer everyone.
(By posting now is it too late to get on the T-shirtredface.png?)

Same here. I dropped out around then.

    :-D:-D

This made me laugh. Like the way an athlete would drop out of a marathon or some other endurance challenge because they just can't physically take any more!

Doing very well in the UFC...something to be commended.

Yeah, such a significant element of society.

Just an FYI, you don't actually have to watch the show to enjoy this thread. Sometimes the out of context-ness gives it another dimension of hilarity.

    Love this thread!

Very true. If I miss the show, having a look through he thread can be very entertaining. I wouldn't watch the Show without it now.

A savages sport, should be banned.

A mixture of Olympic sports is what it is. Boxing, judo, wrestling etc. uneducated views about the sport from people who dont like combat sports make stupid comments like you just have

I am going to be quite emotional when Bill does his last game, I'm going to select a fine whiskey to nurse me through it for the evening. Would be great if they did the last show infront of a live studio audience.

Great touch to have Apres Bill on with the real Bill. Great time for Bill. He has great presence and very few will emulate the way he could draw out the panelllists. He will be sorely missed.

Should RTE convince Bill not to retire and take over the late late show instead? :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 72,152 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

I've had an idea for a show that RTE could make whilst the LLS takes a summer break...

A comedy sketch show (with a different presenter each week) starring both famous and lesser-known comedians like 'Saturday Night Live', interspersed with musical performances like 'Saturday Night Live' and 'TFI Friday'.

    What do people think?

I like the idea of getting comedians on, and trying out new presenters would be better than hearing Miriam tell all her guests how great they are. Good thinking.

They did have two runs of 'Saturday Live' before and after Pat Kenny did 'Kenny Live' (1986-88, and 1999). It had guest presenters each week.

The first run was decent enough, the second one was poor. it was hit and miss depending on the Presenters. One week they had Rhonda Paisley interviewing her Dad.

I hope RTE got the 'Chaddar Cheese and Painapple on a sthackk' in for Ian afterwards. ;)

    I want to say that's a good idea...but I reckon in RTE's hands it's asking for trouble.

I see what you're saying, though. I too, am very uneasy about not having the thread around on Friday nights.
