Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What are you looking to get done exactly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,044 ✭✭✭hoodie6029

It's for my girlfriend's dad. It's a 2014 hatchback. Just looking for a wash using the proper method and then application of a good durable wax. Cheers.

Why don't you have a go at it?
    Wash
    detar
    Clay
    Wash
    Wax = Collinite 845

I would, only there is no driveway and everytime I'm in Longford it rains constantly!

Can anyone recommend a good valet in the Kerry /West Cork /West limerick area but preferably kerry for a car with mould on the seats and in need of a comprehensive clean. This car had been parked up for a few years.

Hi, just looking to get my car a good clean. I've looked up elite as recommended here. I have a few slight marks from were I went too close to a hedge on the back roads. They are not deep by the looks of it. Would this come under the general exterior washes or the more expensive paint jobs. I'll post a picture in the morning. Also, looking at the website they look quite fancy. Will they look after my little fiesta :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

If you could wash scratches out of paintwork you'd have no need for detailers :D

That will need a light enhancement using a polishing machine and polish. The ones you see in Argos wouldn't be up to the job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,556 ✭✭✭Slunk

How much are we talking do you reckon? I know a simple wash won't do it but is there no intermediate wash, scrub, wax polish job. They seems light enough marks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

You could use AutoGlym Super Resin Polish to fill them but that only lasts 2-3 washes before it has to be redone. I can't tell you exactly how much you'll pay because you will probably need to have the whole side of the car polished in order to make it blend in. Otherwise you'll have a lovely shiny line going down the length of the car.

Without pics I can't really say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,556 ✭✭✭Slunk

Thanks. I'll try get some pics up early in the morning. I'd rather let someone who knows what they are doing tackle it than having a go myself. I'd probably make it looks worse somehow

Ian in Elite Auto Clean would be the best option for you. Nearly next door to you in Orion Business Park in Blanchardstown. Detailing SHed is upstairs too!

Looking for a good valet for a wedding in a few weeks around the Thurles area. Don't mind travelling a bit of distance for a good job! Seats and carpet definitely need a good clean as I had a bad spill last month! Thanks

I don't know about show spec finish, but I found the guy who is set up in the multi-story car park in Castlebar pretty good for a valet.

Thanks Trojan. I'm really looking for someone mobile now to be honest as I'm running short of time to get it done before next Wednesday. Doesn't seem to be anybody covering this area though.

Hi, I'm hoping to get my car valeted/detailed. It's never been done before and I think it needs it now.

    Any recommendations for Dublin?

It's only a Ford Fiesta. I always feel a bit silly when I see the websites of these places with super cars on them. Do people get normal cars detailed?

A mans car is his pride and joy.
Be it a fiesta or a Bentley

    Realistaclly though.
How much do you want to spend on it as there is a vast difference between valeting and detailing. As is theeir a big price difference.
Would you consider buying the products and doing it yourself over a couple of weekends?

    DUBLIN

    Elite Auto Clean

    Ian - 085/2099630
    www.eliteautoclean.com

The above number for Ian seems defunct, and got no response from the online form..
Have they gone out of business?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

No, they are very much still in business.

You should be able to get Ian on; o85144oo96, alternatively, you'll get an answer reply on email / FB

    Hi Guys,
I was out of the car for about 2 months and it was left parked under a tree, the Bonet and roof have a brown substance of the paint that won’t come off with a jet wash, any ideas on how to get it shifted?

    Thanks
    G

Mmm de tar I can do, I’ll have to get a clay bar though, thanks for the advice

Unlikely that it will need a machine polish.
A pre wash with Citrus Pre Wash or All Purpose Cleaner (if you are limited) via pump sprayer if you have it. Power wash off. Wash car as normal, but do not try and scrub it off, anything that doesnt come off with a genle wipe will need further work. De-tar will help soften the tree sap. Re-wash. Clay the surface with a medium or heavy claybar, and this should take it off. Perhaps a hand polish if you are feeling up to it, and then protect with either a wax or sealant. Car will look better than it did before you parked it under the tree, and likely better than its looked for some time too! ;)

May want to consider a using the Citrus Pre Wash / APC, along with a brush to get into spots like around trim, window seals, etc, as these are likely to be pretty bad too.
