Just got one, would say its better than the senseo with coffee duck and better than the nespresso.
The faux crema is just ridiculous though you can't see how much is poured so end up putting too much or too little water through the puck.
I'll probably depressurise the filter or get anoter portafile so I can fit a reasonably sized cup under it.
Anyone tried a different filter with it?
The steam wand is more froth than microfoam but the wife and kids love it.
Overall the portafilter and wand are at lease a few inches too low.
Best thing of all is the 3 year warranty though, with the amount of coffee I drink I can guarantee I will need a pump, or heater block in that time.

Right just back from a cross city trip to pick one up in Nutgrove where there are now 3 left, one is slightly opened. I called I to Santry avenue on the way but their delivery still hasn't come and they don't know if it will. The manager there kindly rang the Coolock and East Wall stores for me and both are sold out as is Finglas. So Nutgrove it is if anyone wants to get one tomorrow in Dublin.

Now all I got to do is figure out how to change my Hario grinder to an espresso blend and I'm good to go:)

An arguably better way to make coffee is the aeropress . Anyone who wants less hassle and clean up should try one.
Some of the better coffee shops in dublin offer aeropress coffee to go. Such as coffeeangel .. Cheap and easy and better than low end machines
    .

I have not used may Gaggia Baby for 2 months now.

Just used it to try make a latte. I used the nespresso pods. Just wondering if anyone else has used them? I wasn't sure when to turn the coffee switch off cos the coffee/water kept streaming through and then the coffee got very watery. I thought it would stop itself when it was finished cos if it doesn't it's hard to know when to turn it off before the coffee gets watery.

Has anyone managed to produce micro foam for lattes from the steaming wand ? I've tried a few times now but I just keep ending up with a jug with steamed milk and a thick layer of froth on top which would be great if I wanted a cappuccino but I mainly bought this machine for making lattes. I've banged the milk jug on the counter and swirled it around but that's not helping enough. Anyone had any joy with producing that real valvetty type of milk foam with this machine, if so tips appreciated:)

Haven't eliminated the froth but if you remove the plastic frothier sleeve which just seems to blow bubbles and also run some steam through until the stream stabilises before you start it really reduces the froth.

That seems a great idea anyway. I noticed that when I removed the plastic sleeve there was a trace of milk on the metal tube that had congealed. Unless anyone knows better I am leaving mine off.

Measure out 40ml water in a cup, empty it, then pour same amount through the machine and turn it off. (110ml for a Lungo)

    Perfect nespresso everytime ;)

Thanks for the tips, I tried it and there is a slight improvement but overall I can't seem to get it to produce good microfoam which is annoying me. I've watched a few YouTube vids on doing it so am pretty sure I'm doing it right. I think I'm gonna bring it back because of it, I'm totally open now to the idea of getting an expresso machine but one with full ability to make the lattes I crave and his machine doesn't seem to do that. I think I'll drop it back over the weekend and keep my eyes peeled for a decent used Gaggia or similar, hopefully that'll work out better.

If you decide to definitely bring it back I could buy it off you? Been in and out of the Santry store to see if they got them delivered but they never did.

It took me ages to get it right on a Gaggia. Now its like second nature. Got the process nailed.

I put the wand into the jug about 10mm deep and 10mm out from the edge . Get a whirl pool going till I stretch the milk. Then go deep till the outside of the jug get hot to touch . Never let it boil.

I also do the milk first, then rinse the boiler by turning it on without coffee in the porta filter for 5 seconds . This brings the temp down as the single boiler set at steam will be way to hot for making coffee. Temperature surf until its right and then make the coffee.

If your milk is a bit flat with the wait, then a quick stir will get it back a bit I find.
Good enough for latte art on my little machine.

The new small gaggias have the same problem although you can need a third party wand or wand from older model that works. I was thinking of getting a bellman stove top steamer myself.

I've actually gotten decent results now from the ALDI one using my finger as a thermometer.

Two in Aldi on Long Mile Road Walkinstown today at 6 o'clock. About the third aisle over, just past the pyrex type dishes and spatula's etc.

I would have loved one but can't afford it at the mo.
