Sent my car into Flawless Detailing in Drogheda yesterday to have a single stage machine polish done to try and lessen a scuff on the front passenger wing. Delighted with how it turned out. Scuff is maybe 95% sorted. Next on the list is to get my wheels off and give them a proper going over both inside and out. I'll upload a couple of pics when I figure it out.

Apologies about the size of the pics, can't seem to get them resized right.

I still have it. It's in one of the reflections. Just the Octavia is my daily from now on.

Ah I see it there now. Dunno how I didn't twig it immediately, to be honest. Stands out quite a bit. Haha. I think I was just in panic mode :P

Octavia looks fantastic, though. Never been down to Flawless, was gonna use that place as my normal weekly wash but never really did (don't be over that way too often os not sure if he'd even do 'normal' stuff or not).

Padraic does a bit of everything from regular wash through to valeting and machine polishing. His website is www.flawless.ie and will give you a list of services he provides. You should check it out.

You can get super glue remover in the same tubes super glue itself comes in. Normally available in newsagents and made by Loctite.

Will that be harsh on the paintwork though?

It's designed to breakdown super glue so probably not. How much super glue is on the paint? Did you try and pick it off? I wouldn't say the bond between paint and superglue would be very good. Also are you sure that the superglue hasn't etched the paint already?

Cool, I did indeed, it's not budging though... Well it's on about 12 months at this stage...

So sold the Yaris that I got to do a good detail on.
The girlfriend is sad to see it go as it was never so clean.
The detail was so effective without it the car would not have sold.

I'm just wondering could you use collinite 845 after Autoglym SRP as a kind of protector or would them two products go bad together / clash ? Or is that even when you would use 845 my understanding of it is it's used to protect the shine / paint work ?

Also is 845 difficult to put on or is it a similar procedure to SRP ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭edburg

Yes that main idea polish then protect with 845 wax/sealant.

Not sure how you went about polish bit but with wax I go with Mr myagi basic explanation 'wax on, wax off'

In case you didn't see karate kid use applicator pad put wax on car in straight lines wait maybe 5-10 mins and gently buff of using suitable clean microfibre.

845 doesn't need to be on too long otherwise it's difficult to buff off by hand.

845 works best over bare paint.

Also best used as lightly as possible. Even lighter coats.
If you apply it too heavie it could be difficult to remove.

Prep the paint with a cleanser polish
Cleanse the paint with ersasor or ipa.

2 coats of collintite 845 as light as possible even with a damp applicator.
If possible give 24 hours between coats.
If not possible then give a couple of hours.

    Alright then,

the other day i used my snowfoam lance for the first time using 50cal ambush foam,

so anyway i diluted it 4:1 sprayed it on and waited approx 10 mins...then i power washed it off and i was washing it off i said WoW! look at this shiny glossy finish.......but....as the car dried my enthusiasm was some what dampened, the top half of the car was fine but the bottom was still shabby, it didn't penetrate the heavy dirt,
    so much for a "touch-less" wash :(

so am i doing something wrong ? should i blast it with water beforehand or diluted it less??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭h3000

Is a snow foam wash ever touchless though? Maybe if the car was only slightly dirty/dusty but if there is any sort or heavy dirth on the car you really will have to get out the two buckets.

There is no such think as a touch-less wash....not in Ireland with the road and weather conditions we have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

well thats what its advertised as...

    Not really though...
This is as close to a ‘touch less’ wash as you will get

Depends on how dirty the car is to begin with in fairness, I've heard of people with dust on their car getting away with using it and nothing else.
That's proper crud on your car so very hard for it to do anything.

What seal if any have you under it, if that dirt is direct to the paint then it will be really welded on there!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

    seal ?

As in wax/coating. If it is just bare paint with dirt on it then there is very little any foam will do to be fair.
