Day (20's) and Dustin Johnson (22's) are the two front runners I fancy. Day has had a couple weeks off with his thumb injury but as far as I know it wasn't anything serious. Johnson for such a big hitter is one of the top ranked putters on tour which is obviously very important around Augusta.

I've only placed two small bets on Betfair so far, waiting for the bookies to start offering more places first. Lynn has had a horrible year but 600.00 looked way to big, will lay him off if he starts ok.

    David Lynn @ 600.00
    Graham DeLaet at 99.00

Would be great if people can keep us up to date when the bookies start to offer more places.

Right I have got on my Top end of the market done with

    Jason Day 23 win only
    Dustin Johnson 24 win only
Zach Johnson 38 win and hope to do place

Only ever won this once with Zach Johnson in 2007 but few ok places since too.

Love this tournament aside from the betting. It really is the best tournament around

    Mcilroy, Rory 8/1 - 5 win
    Garcia, Sergio 33/1 - 2 e/w
    Dufner, Jason 50/1 - 1 e/w

    Reed, Patrick 66/1 - 1 e/w
    Cabrera, Angel 66/1 - 1 e/w
    Dubuisson, Victor 80/1 - 1 e/w
    Couples, Fred 125/1 - 1 e/w
    Lyle, Sandy 1000/1 - 0.50 e/w

not trying to make money, trying to have fun :D

No. The spreadsheet has nothing to do with me. The creator is Mike so I presume it is his book.

Few of the longer odds golfers I'm looking at are McDowell, Dufner and Mahan all at 50s and Fowler at 80s.

Yes... and some go to 7 places. Odds will obviously shorten however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 546 ✭✭✭Cjs21

Usually all of the bookies in Ireland will go to 6 places.

I remember when Celtic were open they used go to 7 places and some years they went to 8 as far as I remember.

This year it's hard to look by Jason Day.

He has been awesome every year he has played here, except for when he WD over his injury and you have to say he has been the best player on tour all year.

Hard to say he's the best player this season, he's only played 3 events.

He is definitely in with a very good chance, but so are 10 other players.

It's just his overall golf through the 3 events that have been impressive

His Driving accuracy has improved, the distance has always been long.

His short game has come along but most of all his putting from 15 ft or less is after turning into one of the best, if not the best on tour. If you can drive straight and putt well then Augusta can be tamed.

Have backed the following at various stages over the last 2 months

    Zach Johnson
    Leishman
    Mahan
    Choi
    Oosthuizen
    McDowell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,556 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

I have money on Day, Stenson, Snedeker, Schwartzel, and McDowell. Had Cabrera last year. Great to have a few bob on someone who is involved on final day. Great buzz! Hoping Day is fit.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,744 ✭✭✭diomed

    Graham Delaet 105.8
    Boo Weekley 761.6
    Jonas Blixt 430.3

Last year it was Jason Day at 85s

I expect Graham DeLaet to contend. He drives long, and his GIR is good.
    The OP picks well. :)

    Jason Day
    Henrik Stenson
    Bubba Watson
    Hunter Mahan

Bit worried about backing Jason Day all of sudden.

Apparently he is only been working on his short game.

Fingers crossed he be ready 100% for Masters.

Anyone know anything about Nick Watney? He hasn't played in a few weeks but he usually goes ok at Augusta.

    Good question.

I have read last week he will make it. How true that is im not certain.

He was a player I was certain would win major 4-5 years ago.

    Has the quality.

If I hear or see anything I link it here and let you know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,460 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Added Sergio yesterday at 30/1. Just have a gut feeling more then anything. I think he could give this a right good go especially with Tiger out and Phil injury concerns.

Edit:Just see he is leading in Huston. Not sure if I want him playing that well this week.

He only withdrew the other day because he was having a mare. I think his caddie was quoted as saying Dustin's back was "stiff" or something.

He will be at Augusta and has probably been practicing there today and will tomorrow as bad weather is forecast for Monday.

I was just thinking the same thing yesterday, a lot of big names not at 100%, probably be Kuchars best chance to get himself a major. He has obviously been very impressive the last 2 weeks but he is in serious form this season and has a very good record at Augusta, he is from Georgia too so he knows this place, still 20/1 with Boyles so I think I'll have a large enough stake on him to win.

Disappointing to see so many players injured, I think Kuchar will be my only bet of anyone below 50's so it will be a large stake on him and a few smaller bets on a few outsiders., Scott is the only other one below 50/1 that I think has a very good chance but I think you would need to be mad to go near Scott below 10's.

Ya agree here. I kinda looking at my bets and wondering have I made right calls on the 4 I backed now.

I do see myself getting on couple of triple figure odds players.

Im looking at Bowditch. I have been reading about him since his win and some of the comments I have heard are very impressive, not just you're normal "he has talent" comments, but some stand outs.

I threw a article up in Golf fourm about his battles and now he has his first win it may lead to something bigger. He is a guy that might very easy miss cut, but at the price I see him at, im tempted. Nothing to lose week for guys like him. You can throw 10-20 names into that hat though tbf.

will leave the last few bets till next week now. Its very open this year as much as any I can remember.

Good picks. Went with Zach myself. Always been god to me when I have backed him. Just shyed away from Dufner, but more then capable and solid chance.

Then again I like about 15-20 players chances:pac:

Boyles still only offering 5 places but offering moneyback if your player finishes 2nd or 3rd.

I've added Kevin Stadler at odds of 318.2 to my bets.
He won the Phoenix Open this year, is ranked 4th in driving, and 7th all-around ranking.
And just added to it at odds of 400 and 410.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,460 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Trying to narrow this down to 6 or 7 bets is very hard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,844 ✭✭✭Jimdagym

I think Gmac is a great price at 50's. 4 top tens from 6 events (albeit going back to oct).
I was mad for Kuch but after this weekend I just dont know. McIlroy finishing today with a 65 and top 10 really sets him up too.
