Ukrainian soldiers have been arrested in Crimea with a huge arsenal of weapons and explosives. Two Russian personnel were shot dead by them.

If its not true then who shot them? And how did a group of Ukrainian soldiers come to be arrested in Crimea?

Usually everything that comes from the Russian government and leadership is lies and yes they cannot be trusted.

Have you a link to the claims by russia and the Huge arsenal of weapons

It was the Americans financially supporting a right wing movement that led to the coup and overthrow of a democratically elected government in Ukraine that started all this. Don't ever forget that.

You mean the Russian funded right wing groups

Correction, the world's media. Middle Eastern, Asian, South American, African, Scandinavian, independent journalists, veteran reporters, competing outlets..
All came with russophobic agenda to show how bad is Russia
This is why it was so much hysteria in Western media when RT managed to show inconvenient truth which West would prefer do not see
Rt is part of Russian government media .
Russia is always been as bad as America but russia worse .Russia is always aggressor. So save it for people who are brain washed in Russia

It was Ukraine people looking to be part of Eu. So stop with West crap .it's old Russian bull as normal
Putin doesn't want Ukraine in eu. Russia thinks it can do what it likes and invade other countries only this case it called so called rebels supported by Russia.

Six of one half dozen of another.

EU wanted to expand its borders, USA wants military bases in Ukraine. Neither cares if there's an uprising for that to happen.

Russia doesn't want either of these two things. It doesn't care what corrupt politicans or nationalist groups get up to in order that that doesn't happen.

Both are as bad as each other. You'd swear we were back in the 19th century with empires scrambling over various resources. The big difference now is that all major sides have nukes. We shouldn't forget that, but for some reason the leaders of both sides seem to be doing so. Crazy bastards.

You mean just like the United States?

It must have been inspired by their behaviour since 9/11

You mean the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who marched in Kiev, sick of their kleptocratic president and the cronyism

The Ukrainian government being pretty much the pinnacle of corruption in the region..

The man who on a public salary was literally caught red-handed with a Spanish galleon, a private zoo, private car collections.. his son a dentist, suddenly worth hundreds of millions of dollars..

Fleeing from his mansion, dumping tons of paperwork into one of his lakes, much of which was salvaged and recorded..

Problem was.. he was Moscow's man.. and despite multiple international arrest warrants for money laundering and fraud, not to mention more serious charges.. they are sheltering and protecting him

The rest of history (or rabid swivel eyed conspiracies)

Russians are worse than all of them Russia can't even tell the truth.
All Ukraine wanted is join eu and better it people .Russia want is control all eastern countries. Russia are good at blaming other for what they do . Russia are control freaks

jesus christ, Ukraine had the GDP and PPP equivalent of Namibia and San Salvador, the yanks and EU have had over a decade of Russian near collapse in order to pursue Ukraine.. what did they do? invested

Unfortunately that doesn't fit with these edgy world views, so instead the above narrative is tirelessly inserted

I would like to interrupt this discussion to inform the troll-factory employees that they should use articles before nouns when trying to pretend that they are genuine posters.

I understand that the russian language doesn't really bother with them but the lack of them in your posts is a dead giveaway.

    That is all, carry on.

Do you really believe that Russian trolls are employed to post misinformation on an obscure little Irish discussion forum?

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

Petition for restitution on Poroshenko's website: Ukraine is not ready for real Europe

It seemed that after signing the Association Agreement with the EU on July 27, 2014, Ukraine sent a clear message that becoming part of European family is her top-priority objective. However, the way to Europe never promised to be easy. The Kiev authorities had a lot of work to do to carry out reforms and bring regulatory environment into compliance with EU standards.

After almost three years have passed, one may state the fact that Ukraine failed to satisfy even a half of her objectives. It is not the objectives turning out to be impossible, but the natural inability and reluctance to be Europeans not in word but in deed. The fact that there is still no restitution law in Ukraine is an illustrative example. Even though it was namely restitution of material values to the historical owners, whether it is in tangible form or in money terms, that was the key point of the association agreement. Every EU member state had to undergo this procedure. Germany paid over DM 3 billion as compensation, Hungary paid $450 million, Poland paid $12.5 billion; Romania, Baltic States, Slovakia, and other countries also had to pay compensation. As for the Kiev authorities, they somehow decided that the demand for restitution has nothing to do with them, even though the law is the same for all and there is no disputing about it.

It is characteristic that Ukrainians basically do not support the idea of giving back what belongs to former rightful owners. In a country with 40 million population, there are only a little more than a dozen people who found it necessary to sign a petition to president Poroshenko that is calling to eventually adopt a law 'About Restitution'. (petition.president.gov.ua/petition/35969) So, this many Ukrainians are mature enough to be part of the civilized world.

Clearly, when it comes to a sacrifice for the sake of a historic decision-making, nether Ukraine's political establishment nor Ukrainian society are ready to prove in practice the adherence to European values and ideals. And, considering the absence of any appreciable advances in reforming the state and rebuilding the social consciousness, Ukraine is risking to get stuck in the status of perennial candidate for entering civilized society.

Ukraine is a perfectly civilised society ,

They are still effectively s toddler in a world of grown ups they put up with Soviet oppression for 60 + years and even after getting Independence they were still under the control of the Kremlin ,
So yeah they are not perfect but real Democratic states take time to build which is exactly what is currently happening ,

As for resitution there is no actual agreement on the subject ,the only ones going on about resitution in Ukraine are russian media outlets aka the Kremlin

Ukraine / Kiev.... that's one place i'll never forget.

We landed in Kiev approx. 1 week after a load of protesters were killed at Independence Square. The place was like a war-zone.

(We had booked the flights to see Chernobyl months before)

Totally civilized... apart from feeling like I went colour-blind when we landed in the airport and someone who looked about 17 pointing a gun at me as I went through immigrating, constantly being shouted at "WHY YOU HERE? WHY YOU HERE?"

Been there myself a few times although never went through an airport.
Normally go through from Slovakia through a little border control, you can only go through on foot for a day.
A little village with houses On a Street and every house turned into a shop.
House on the outside and like a marathon sports on the inside. :-D
With anything you want, all knock offs of course.
Drink, smokes , sweets, nikes ,tommy hillfiger, Gucci ,cleaning supplies and anything else.
One of the houses is turned into a bar and pizzeria.
Get 3 large pizzas , 5 330ml bottles of Coca Cola, 3 or 4 pints and a couple of shot of vodka for the bones of 15euro.
Busy place as a lot of slovaks go there for cheaper stuff.
An hour checking my passport and when I was cleared they said I was probably one of the first Irish person to go through that particular one. They were all happy and chatty.

Was there 2 years ago and the power was going on and off due to the stuff happening over there.
If you were caught on the Ukraine side you wouldn't get back across till power was restored.

Everybody had generators running for power for their houses and stuff.
And the Ukraine side of the border check were literally plugged into the Slovak side for electricity you could see the cables going from hut to hut.
