Pendred complaining about anyone's striking other than his own is gold, pure gold! Desperate attempt to stay noticed, because he knows Punk is right; why isn't he calling out someone in the top 10? Because he knows he can't beat the top 10.

Punks point about the top 10 was retarded. Anyone outside the rankings has no business calling out somebody in the top 15. There's no way that's what Cathal or anyone in his position should be doing.

Pendred is painful. Put the crowd to sleep in Vegas. An embarrassment to his nation.

Id prefer watch 10 Pendred fights in a row than to listen to McGregor for another moment tbh.

Not too interested in the pre and post-fight play acting to be honest. Bell to bell is where it counts most unfortunately.

Could be possible that Pendred has signed to be Punks first opponent and they're trying to create a bit of "controversy" to drum up interest.

Thats the first thing taht came to my head when i seen this, both seem pretty childish comments from both of them

Pendred is due to fight in Dublin in October so if he wins there he should be aiming a bit higher than Punk. Then again I'm sure the allure of money is enticing to him given he won't have a long career in the UFC, he's borderline getting cut I imagine and not liked at all by the top brass for a) having boring fights and b) having zero personality.

Also I doubt the commission would sign off on an 0-0 fighter vs a "veteran" (and I use that term loosely) of the game like Pendred who has won 17 pro MMA fights.

Cathal Pendred couldn't make himself interesting when Ray D'Arcy didn't know his name live on air. He's dull as dishwater in Monaghan.

    What happened there?

Saw Pendred in lillies on Friday, my mate saw him in Bucks on Saturday... Seems he is training hard anyway

jesus if there is one thing Cathal does is train hard, ffs the man is a machine in the gym. A fighter out two days in a row, clearly he's at night, fighters, not allowed a weekend off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Cianan2

Ah I just assumed they'd be very strict in their training, you know like no late nights and no drinking etc. Especially 2 months from a fight! My bad. Nice chap anyway, would like to see him fight Punk

You are, ever gone 6-8 weeks on a brutal diet, only drinking water as well as 6-8 hours training?? when your camp is coming up you need to blow off steam before you kill yourself for the next two months

Fighters are allowed to take nights off. Especially right before fight camp. It's 11 weeks before the fight. It’s not like he was on the lash the weekend before – which is probably common in other sports tbf.

Punk's forgotten how to give a decent promo.

Do tweets count as promo's now?

If someone is really good at what they do, everything they engage in can be considered a promo.

    New interview, talks shoulder interview.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNU-4h13al8

I'm about 75% that he'll never have a UFC fight.

That's definitely been the belief since he was signed.

    He will.

    He will.

At the same time Dana proves his credentials as a Boxer.

Does he have any chance in a fight? As a very casual UFC watcher (basically I take notice whenever Rousey or McGregor is fighting) it seems to me that a guy in his mid-30's taking up MMA would get destroyed unless they put him up against a complete bum.

All depends on the opponent, but he's been training solid for close to a year now.

They'll likely put him in against someone with an 0-0 record. Either way its gonna draw 100's of thousands of viewers so win lose or draw, Punk & the UFC will be the only ones laughing by the end of it.

He sounds really depressed and tetchy in this interview, definitely the Bad Punk compared to the Good Punk you saw in the last sitdown UFC interview earlier in the year.

He's really worked up about twitter too.

Currently wearing a Punk shirt :)

Oh man, by his responses to randomers on twitter it sounds like wrestling trolls are renting a penthouse suite in his head. He's taking it very personally. Seemingly every new tweet is followed by a response to negative comments (apologies for embedding language)

In his head, he probably thinks he's being super-ironic or some nonsense but he just sounds like a knob.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

Well punks always come across as a bit of a d**k so the comments aren't surprising

Just shows what a thin skinned douchebag he is.

I'd like if he just got out of the spotlight for a few years, go completely under the radar and get his head right. Then come back as the colour commentator on Raw, at least he would be entertaining again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 908 ✭✭✭Palo Alto

He'll be divorced fairly soon at this rate if he keeps that up, did any of you listen to that interview I posted? He sounded awful, and I normally like the guy.

I doubt he'd be able to, like, he became a pro wrestler so it's not as if he doesn't on some level crave attention and adulation.
Plus, realistically all of his baggage goes back to his family. Someone who endlessly stresses how little they care about other people's opinions clearly cares a great deal and there's been nowhere he's stressed that point more than when he talks about his family. Those are some deep personality flaws coming through that require a lot more than getting out of the spotlight.

He's probably way too stubborn of a person to ever actually return to wrestling so he'll likely keep himself in physically okay shape, but, christ, he's going to be one bitter bitter bitter 50 year old.
