He lost the Neknomination, but he might win a Darwin Award.
Oh no - the world has lost a stupid person - how will we ever go on without his contribution to our planet!!?

Very sad for his family and all, but how utterly retarded do you have to be to do what he did. He won't be the last, and the human gene pool won't be any worse for it

Unless he was a raging alcoholic who beat them which judging by him downing a bottle of whiskey in less than a minute suggests he probably might be

    Mod

    Carded/banned as appropriate.

Do not post in this thread again.

If anyone else wants to be a dick about a young man who has just died, and whose family may be reading this, they will be banned from AH. No future warnings or cards will be given.

Whats seriously annoying me is that Facebook and Twitter are now full of people calling for necknomination to stop and saying it was matter of time before this happened... when they themselves have been laughing at it, promoting it and lots of them have done it in the last 2 weeks.

    Talk about hypocritical!

Wonder if he was drunk when he did it. Don't think that sculling a pint of whiskey is something you'd try sober.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,257 ✭✭✭Love2love

His death was not the result of this. It's just a rumour. The circumstances around his death are being investigated and speculating and accusing him of stupidity is pointless. RIP Ross

I have an FB account and the first I heard of this craze was on here!!

It was innocence in youth. We all do stupid stuff. Some unlucky people are punished ridiculously and sadly. No one wants to see stories like this happening. Just like the planking death a while ago. Its all fun and games but there is a risk involved. Sadly a man has lost his future due to a bar bet. No one deserves that. No family deserves that. One lousy mistake.

    RIP.

There is little wrong in downing a pint of beer once for a dare but human nature has us jeering on others to go to more extremes. To beat the last guy.

My news feed is flooded with them, I think it's more common with the 18-23 age group.

I think you're right. I found his Facebook page and there is no recent video of him. His last status was at around 4:00 PM yesterday and it has nothing to do with alcohol.

Someone on my Facebook said he was out drinking with his mates and choked on his vomit.

The tabloids should tell the coroner what the cause of death is since they seem to have it figured out from a Twitter post that mentioned neknomination.

Save him the hassle of doing it.

Pitty because I was going to add you. Just lost the chance to double your friends there.

"Pitty"?. I suggest you spend more time learning how to spell and less time on fb.

I wasn't saying it was you that was gloating, I was referring to others making foolish comments. I too have just heard about it as I have been told by my fellow boardsies that to have heard about it on FB you must neither be decrepit or friendless :D

You didn't delete facebook. You deleted your account.

    More importantly: No one cares.

If you don't want to read about neknomination then maybe don't open the thread dedicated to discussing neknomination.

I did actually delete Facebook. I deleted it from my phone. That ok?

The only way to increase your personal stock in this life (and maybe the next) is to gather as many friends as possible on your facebook. Age is irrelevant, girls count as doubles and grammar is optional.

Now, go forth Smidge and use this knowledge wisely lest it backfire and you end up on ignore lists from Malin to Mizen head.

    Thank you Sensei......
I am deeply honoured to have received such noble advice.
I shall indeed go forth and befriend every randomer and like every single gack status and dubious page until my friend count overfloweth.

So you deleted the app from your phone. You didn't actually delete Facebook.

Really sad, there are conflicting reports on whether he actually did die after doing a neck nomination though, there's some really high horses in this thread, you would swear they've never made a mistake in their lives:cool:

Another paper said he died after drinking a pint of spirits. He didnt drink a pint of spirits.

To be fair, the Mirror is the only source either claiming, or being cited in claiming, that he died from a neknomination. Every comment I've seen from people who claim to know him has contradicted this.

I'll bet you anything that if he is found to have died from different causes, it'll be a tiny sub-story at best, and the original will still be used by people to condemn the fad.

Wow, this whole thing decended into craziness fairly quickly. . . When i first posted this thread 11 days ago i was just talking about a few lads who are generally a sensible lot. They took up this trend ( from wherever it started)and put up videos of themselves drinking pints of beer (mostly guinness). It was really obvious that it was the only drink they had that evening and there wasnt much "trying to outdo each other".

All seemed harmless fun among friends.

But now its spread to something mental! In my original post i laughed at the concern around the fad. I totally get it now. While this may be harmless in its innocent form (who hasnt downed a beer or a guinness?) it has transformed into complete idiocy and unnecessary showing off and i think the concern is justified.

Its awful about that poor DJ whether his death was due to neknomination or not. But hopefully it will make some people think about what they are doing for just a few likes and comments.

No harm in innocent fun but keep it innocent, not dangerous!

I nominate every member of boards to drink a cup of tea in four minutes. Let the games begin!

Lads downing a pint stupid but not that bad! Lads downing a pint of vodka and whiskey is ridiculous.

I seen the worst one I've ever that was posted on facebook and I can't post the link on boards for the nature of it.

A guy in the army takes a dump in a protein shaker. Pours a can of beer into. Downs his ****e with the can of bear. Nearly vomited. He did throughout it.

How are we supposed to expand our empire when all the soldiers are busy drinking their own poo?

This seems to be another newish bizarro trend(the consumption/ingestion of wither your own or someone else's excrement/vomit/urine or a cocktail of the aforementioned).

Has certain sections of society REALLY sunk this low?
