did the UPS get going again after the engine change? ..... thought I saw it on FR24 today heading west ......

    Yep, flew Shannon-Louisville today.

The cancelled united flight from yesterday also took off today at 1pm (Scheduled for 10am) with PAX by the looks of it.

Flight returns to Shannon with ill passenger (Clare Herald)

United Airlines flight 24 had left Shannon at around 9.20pm and was over an hour into it’s journey when the crew turned around.

The pilot reported that a passenger on board had fallen ill and that they wished to return to Shannon.

The flight has since been cancelled and passengers sent to hotels for the night.
Not a good week for the Shannon – New York services in general, as this was the second disruption to flight schedules.

Sunway are selling holidays to Lanzarote all the way until the end of April so far, they use Aer Lingus' service for these flights, is this a sign they could be continuing until the summer?

EI made recent adjustments to schedules and removed the gap available for ACE in the summer. Wouldn't surprise me if they were to run ACE to end of April though, the Canaries routes from Cork run from Mid September-Late April.

Mets great Rusty Staub speaks after heart attack: ‘Doing fine’ (New York Post)

Former Mets great Rusty Staub is resting after suffering a heart attack on a New York-bound flight, the team said Saturday.

Staub was flying home from Ireland Thursday when he was stricken. Two doctors on the flight rendered immediate aid, and the pilot returned the plane to Shannon airport, where the iconic, red-headed right fielder is recovering in a hospital.

His friend, Stephen Marro, has launched a fund to raise $60,000 for a medical plane to get Staub home to Florida.

Good to hear that he is doing well but it makes you think of the costs that passengers could face due to health issues.

Wonder would Cityjet ever consider reestablishing a route from SNN given the obvious success of ORK and the improvement in the economy?

Founding director of ARI Liam Skelly never wastes a good media opportunity to highlight his dissatisfaction with the transfer of ARI from Shannon to Dublin . . . "Shannon has subsidised Dublin"

Aer Lingus boosts capacity on busy Shannon routes (Limerick Leader)

Aer Lingus has announced that it is to increase capacity on routes to Heathrow, Faro and Malaga from Shannon next summer by an additional 55,000 seats.

The airline is to increase capacity on the summer 2016 services to Heathrow by 35,000 seats, Faro by 10,000 seats and Malaga by 10,000.

The latest boost comes in addition to an already announced 20% seat increase on services to both Heathrow - 25,000 seats - and Lanzarote - 1,300 seats - both of which will kick in for the coming winter season.

Shannon Airport CEO Neil Pakey said it was “a really positive move for what are very popular services from Shannon”.

“London Heathrow is our busiest service and the increased capacity on the larger A320 aircraft here is very much in response to demand,” he said.

“In all, Aer Lingus will operate over 81,000 additional seats to Europe and the UK in the coming year which is great news not only for holidaymakers but also for our business community in the mid-west and along the west coast who tell us that Heathrow is simply for vital business connectivity.

None whatsoever. Still has an 08:45 departure next summer

No early slots available for early LHR, guess EI can make more on ORK/BHD early slots.

Elderly pair airlifted from cruise ship in Atlantic (Clare Herald)

Two elderly people have been airlifted to hospital from a cruise ship almost 300kms out in the Atlantic.

While the Irish Coast Guard was made aware of the situation on Tuesday, the cruise ship was too far west at the time for a helicopter to reach it.

The ship steamed towards the Irish coast for two days until it came within rescue helicopter coverage in the early hours of this morning.

The Shannon based search and rescue helicopter – Rescue 115 – took off at 6am today to meet the ship 150 nautical miles (278kms) south west of Valentia Island.

To date they have a fleet of over 90 aircraft on lease.

Transaero is scheduled to cease all operations on 15 December 2015 due to financial difficulties. In September 2015, Aeroflot agreed to acquire 75% of the highly indebted Transaero Airlines for the symbolic price of one rouble. However, by 2 October 2015, Aeroflot dropped the offer stating that no agreement with Transaero and its shareholders had been reached by the deadline. (wiki)

I see that Transaero have parked EI-DTX and EI-UNE at Shannon on return to lessor. In another photo one can see five Transaero aircraft parked at Shannon too. Hopefully they will get released soon with some possible MRO / Paint work going Shannon’s way.

Passenger numbers will be up a bit for September and October thanks to Soccer and Rugby matches in the UK and Poland. Pity out UK connectivity has gone so desperately poor.

Just thinking now that MAN will be 5pw next summer which compares to the 3pw LPL service it replaced. So an extra 2 Ryanair flights a week replaced 3x daily MAN, 1 rotation of BHX, 1x Daily EDI and 1x daily BRS. Very poor.

How will passenger numbers develop next year?

Looks like NCE and PIS (4 rotations weekly) are gone with Ryanair, MAN, BVA, FMM reduced by 4 rotations collectively. ALC only 3pw for June and July this year, compared to April/May/June/July this year

On the upside, AGP and FAO increase by 1pw each, ACE and PMI's extra weekly rotation extended by a month into August. DL to use a 767-300 on the JFK route. BHX runs for a full year (only half a year this year)

Seems like the increases just about balance out the losses.

Ryanair will announce something new afaik.

    Hopefully :)
The schedule isnt announced yet, still a few gaps!

If I was to guess I'd have 2 strong contenders.
    *Barcelona
*Some holiday route to replace PIS and NCE. Maybe LRH, NTE or REU?

Still can't believe they've scrapped NCE. It had really good loads.?

Wouldn't be suprised if they announce a new ORK-NCE route instead..there was uproar when EI pulled NCE and they are expected to announce new ORK routes I believe.

But back to SNN, Barcelona would be great or Amsterdam (pfff..;))

Maybe Nice isn't dropped, just under consideration (Negotiations could be ongoing with ORK for eg) and they are waiting to load it. The summer schedule for SNN and ORK were announced around the 7th of October last year, its now approaching the 11th. That has to speak for itself for an airline who seems to release its schedule earlier every year.

Yeah though I'd say they would have loaded it or just kept it on for that matter if it was going to happen..

highlydebased Any idea when they might announce something? You've got all our hopes up ðŸ‘
