Why would info on hosting be banned,????
It was allowed on Boards years ago. It was an utter disaster. There's more information about it here

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/boardsie-enhancement-suite/

    Chrome/Edge/Opera: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/boardsie-enhancement-suit/bbgnmnfagihoohjkofdnofcfmkpdmmce

You asked for tips, that's the only tip you need. If you want something more specific, ask for it.

Looks like I have lost mine this morning.

Very annoyed, Was just starting the process of migtrating away and I still need access to my email as when I setup or change my email address they will require my existing email address to confirm request for change

This is going to hurt alot

Very dissapointed with the lack of communiction

The first post in this thread is five months ago, and ye're only starting to migrate now?

Let me guess, you're all moving to another freemail account @theirdomain?

My account seems to be gone this evening. I did my migration months ago and yes I moved to a free account :pac:

    Oh dear
May I suggest the ultimate aim should be change to you@yourdomain.com,
That way in 2, 5 or 10 years from now you can change to another e-mail provider and your e-mail address will always remain the same.

I've had my own domain since 1998 for e-mail, I've changed e-mail provider 3 times during that time and nobody has noticed these changes. :)

Cabaal, could you please explain that. I have my own name registered as a dot com name. Can I have an email like mike@mikedown.com linked to my gmail email?

    sure,
forward mike@mikedown.com to your gmail account,

    Then simply goto https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370?hl=en-GB&ctx=mail
Click the gear in the top right.
    Select Settings.

Select the Accounts tab (or Accounts tab, if you're using Google Apps).
Under Send mail as, click Add another email address.
In the 'Email address' field, enter your name and alternate email address.
    Choose one of two options:
Use Gmail's servers to send your mail (this is easier to set up)
Use your other email provider's SMTP servers (we recommend this option for professional mail accounts or domains). Note for Google Apps users: Depending on your domain type, this feature may be disabled by default. Talk to your administrator if you have any questions.

If you choose to use Gmail's servers:

    6. Click Next Step >> and then click Send Verification. Gmail will send a verification message to your other email address to confirm that you own it.
    7. Open your other account and either click the link in the message Gmail sent or enter the confirmation code in the Accounts section of your Gmail settings.

If Gmail sends a verification email and you didn't receive the it, the message was probably caught by a spam or bulk mail filter in your recovery email system. Try checking your Spam or Bulk Mail folders for a message from account-verification-noreply@google.com to see if the email ended up in there.

Your Gmail address will still be included in your email header's sender field, to help prevent your mail from being marked as spam. Most email clients don't display the sender field, though some versions of Microsoft Outlook may display "From yourusername@gmail.com on behalf of customaddress@mydomain.com." For this reason, if you don't want 'on behalf of' to appear in any of your messages, we recommend using the SMTP servers of your other email provider.
Once you're set up: sending mail

To use one of your alternate sender addresses, click the From link when you compose a new message. If you're replying to or forwarding a message, click the field where your recipients are listed, then click From. After clicking From, you'll see a drop-down menu next to your address, where you can select the email address you'd like to send from.

If you ever need to edit the name, configuration or reply-to address, go back to your settings. Click edit next to the address on your Accounts tab. To delete an address, just click delete.

Note for IMAP/POP users: If you access Gmail through a POP or IMAP email client (e.g. Outlook) and would like to send messages with a custom "from" address, you have two options. We recommend that you configure your email client with two outgoing SMTP servers, one for Gmail and one for your other address. Or, you can use Gmail's outbound servers with a different "from" address. If you've already configured the alternate address, your message will be sent from:otheraddress@domain.com, sender:username@gmail.com, regardless of which custom from configuration you chose.

This will enable you to send e-mails from your gmail account that will then show as mike@yourdomain.com

A technophobe friend of mine has just asked me to help him with his dna.ie email account, which is still active.

I was going to register a new email account for him, either gmail or hisowndomain.com, but he is worried about losing incoming emails to his old dna account.

Can dna email accounts be migrated to other email providers, and can email forwarding be set up?

Or will the account be dead with all information lost once they shut it down?

I wish UTV would completely de-activate the email accounts. I haven't been able to access mine for about a week now but if I send an email to it it doesn't bounce back. If anyone sends an email to it, they will think I'm ignoring it. :(

It seems utv are out of the broadband/internet business now completely. They have sold all their ROI customer base to Vodafone. I wonder would Vodafone sell the domain, I was very partial to my old email address, that and I am searching for a new job and I registered all my applications with the old address prior to being informed they were closing.

Yes. I have and that is how I ended up at this post.
As of 2 days ago, I can not send from Outlook, but can receive.
Via webmail, all still appears to work.

Guess I better start migration to gmail :-(

Only new thing is that all of my accounts and none are related or used in the same way are constantly receiving spam and junk mail, the ones which send you invoices unpaid etc.....

Is there any way of obtaining one's UAN number without having to get it from the previous BB supplier ie UTV connect, which doesn't exist anymore and are uncontactable.

I did...but I guess they have finally switched us off today?
Mine's not working this morning anyway, password rejected etc...anyone else?

Ah well, it was good while it lasted

Really? Mine is gone since before last Summer. I wish they would shut my account down completely because if someone emails me, they don't get a response that the email was not delivered and the person may wonder why I'm not replying.

Mine is gone from early this morning / today.

Glad to know I am not the only one.

Pity no warning about this !!

Nothing from Vodafone who I am now with.

Now have to migrate to Gmail.
