Any interest in the Mata to United story? If it comes to pass it will add some much needed choice to midfield....

Don't think United would be set up to accomodate him in a high FPL points haul. Think at his price I'd probably avoid him.

United would shoehorn Mata into their system like they've done with Kagawa.

Kagawa is a journey man footballer at best as for United they will have to pull out all stops to make CL places and showhorning wont achieve that....

Because they dont play him to his strengths with any regularity, i.e. shoehorning him into their system.

I suggest you go watch him play for Dortmund, he was nearly a goal every 2 games player in a team that won 2 Bundesliga's. That doesnt begin to cover how creative he can be. United's use of him has been appalling imo.

Which is still miles off the mark.

To be fair if you had never seen Kagawa play before this year you could easily accuse him of being a journeyman although the connatations of that word would usually suggest somebody who has played regularly without ever really standing out. For whatever reason Kagawa hasn't shown the form that would suggest he should be a mainstay in the United team, no matter where he has been played he has shown poor touch at times and severe lack of confidence. If Mata signs for United then hopefully Kags will be allowed a fresh start elsewhere. Either way Mata is a proven premier league performer(superstar even), assuming Rooney and Van Persie come back into the team, the addition of Mata and the current brilliance of Januzaj could make United a very dangerous team going forward, they could well come into our reckoning for the close of the season when they'll almost certainly be fighting tooth and nail for the last Champs league spot.

I would have to substitute the word brilliance for potential when discussing Januzaj, he definitely isn't in the top 10 attacking midfielders in the Premiership. Actually possibly 20 when you consider how many Arsenal, Chelsea and City have alone.

Ridiculous comment. Jurgen Klopp in May last year: "Shinji Kagawa is one of the best players in the world and he now plays 20 minutes at Manchester United – on the left wing! My heart breaks. Really, I have tears in my eyes. Central midfield is Shinji's best role. He's an offensive midfielder with one of the best noses for goal I ever saw."

Mata would be played out of position when Rooney is fit imo just like what happens Kagawa.

Yup. Maybe if he is a lower price next year as a result of a poor haul this year he may be value next year, but he won't be going near my team this year even if he scores 1 or 2 early on.

This is all very recent but right now(very recent form) I would say he's in the top 5, and I am most definitely not a United fan, he was quite possibly the best attacking player on the pitch last Sunday and was unquestionably the best player on the pitch the week before. This guy is absolutely the real deal and he currently has none of the confidence issues which are clearly plaguing Kagawa.

Kagawa was allowed into the centre for the second half against Swansea and Januzaj was put out left. United suddenly started playing fantastic attacking football.

So with that in mind, Moyes put Januzaj back in the centre for Chelsea, and played Ashley Young.....

    WHAT!?!?

Also, remember back in November (I think it was November), when United beat Bayern 5-0? Guess who played in the centre...

English football has a general fear of that type of player and accommodating them in a team. They rather play a guy that has the legs to run around the pitch doing alot of donkey work

4 yrs at a Japanese club, a complete season over 2 yrs at Brussia and little or no impact at United hardly earth shattering stuff and just as likely was signed by United as part of a marketing roll out. Klopp is as good as the next man at talk up his own book...

Not going to get into a form discussion because it changes by the day, but in terms of players I'd prefer to have in my squad. Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott, Toure, Silva, Nasri, Navas, Lallana, Eriksen, Coutinho.

That is just off the top of my head.

    Just to continue with this..

In my opinion United need to abandon the traditional winger system Moyes is currently playing. We have multiple players who play fantastic football in the centre behind goal, so why not play a system that plays to our strengths? Why keep insisting with wingers who can't cross or get past their man? I'm looking at you Valencia..

Imagine a United team set up like this..

    RVP
    ----Kagawa-Rooney-Januzaj----
    2 of Carrick / Fellaini / Fletcher
    --New LB-Vidic-Evans-Rafael--
    DDG

The attacking potential from that setup is immense.....

Sounds like you never watched more than a highlights reel of him playing for Dortmund.

I think Kagawa can do the donkey work if he is given a chance, Asians particularity are known for their engine and determination but Kagawa really hasn't been given many chances to excel in the league.

Starts one game then is taken off with 20 mins to go and doesn't play the next game, not easy to adapt in a different league with those kind of run outs.
His confidence has been drained since he joined United which doesn't help when he is given a chance, no doubt about that.

I think Kagawa would help United keep possession better therefore negating the need for alot of tracking back.

His confidence is shot because Ferguson and now Moyes dont have faith in him in his favoured & most effective position. By comparison, Klopp had complete & utter faith and reaped the rewards.

I think the man has alot of motivation at the moment, Man City is extra fuel for that fire. A motivated Adebayor is quite a handful

Hmm. Have a back five of Chester, Terry, Coleman, Bardsley and Koscielny. Was tempted recently to downgrade one of the expensive guys to a Palace defender. If Coleman is injured for a few weeks that'd suit me perfectly.

I also would need to know if Ramsey is due back soon. Could just move for AJ now and have money to go to Ramsey next week if he is back in the squad.

Need to make a decision tonight as Aguero is going up again and I can't afford him afterwards unless I downgrade.

Suppose I may as well bite the bullet and get Aguero in bedamned. Might bring Gerrard in for one week only. Feel like he could do the business at Everton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,268 ✭✭✭IsMiseMyself

With Gerrard and Aguero brought in for Ozil and Negredo, I'm .1m off downgraded Ashley to Azpi. Now that's just annoying.

Would it be insane to take a punt on Smalling and Man U keeping a cleanie against Cardiff? Granted, I rarely play a guessing game, so I'll probs just downgrade Ozil to Wilshere and leave it at that.

Getting drunk last night made me miss Lukaku's price fall, but at least it gives me a few days to think who to bring. Although I won't be bringing in Remy.

Think I might chance doing no transfer this week and bank it for next week when I'll possibly look at Ozil/Lukaku for Ramsey/Sturridge

Time to shift out Mannone for any owners:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2543330/Gus-Poyet-confirms-Sunderland-close-signing-Argentine-goalkeeper-Oscar-Ustari.html

Can see him rotating with Mannone quite a bit, although Oscar might be the keeper in the cup games. Still very risky though

If City play Demichelis, it will be goals galore. That lad would struggle to get a game at one of the sides scrapping relegation.

He was terrible on Saturday against Cardiff. He dives in far too quickly.

My master-plan over the next few weeks

He is an accomplished keeper. Potentially as good as Mannone. I think he is a rotation risk now, especially if he makes a mistake. If Oscar comes in at 4.0 he is going in my team.

Do you know if there's a website where the PL players stats are available (like saves, open play crosses, clearances, blocks and interceptions, recoveries, key passes, successful tackles, etc...) ?

The weekly 'Big Numbers' members article on FFS is brilliant for stats and stuff you would otherwise, shots inside the box, touches inside the box, inside the opponents half etc etc. Worth the subscription alone imo
