    Who did you bring in?

Cahill, Baines wasn't in the equation, if I fancied Evertons run in then it would have been daft to upgrade imo (not worth a 1.5m upgrade), I don't really fancy them from now onwards and it's a differential I need and am happy taking.

I've doubled up on Chelsea at the back with Cech and Cahill, Jose is getting his house in order.

Just wondering as I'm thinking about this myself, was Ivanovic an option or do you prefer Cahill's point winning ability, I'd like Cahill for the price but I've a little bit of uncertainty that he'll lose the odd game to Luiz, not sure whether Jose will prioritise Champs league or seemingly easier EPL games.

My reasoning was that even though Cole isn't flavour of the month/year with Chelsea, his recent games have seen a decent return to form. With him floating around I think that Ivan is more likely to be rested than Cahill (Cole LB and Azpil RB can work well).

Out of the two first choice CB's, you would have to imagine that Terry will be rested ahead of Cahill.

Luiz just needs to stay the hell away from the defense, I think Jose has finally realised this.

That's my reasoning anyway.... I just don't know if I came up with it before or after I transferred Cahill in :D
I now think Cahill is the least likely to be rested ;)

Everyone jumping on bony due his upcoming matches...I think who would supply him the goals..Shelvey Michu and Canas all are unavailable...Got adebayor in instead.

Made three changes this week, for a -4. (Two weeks after wildcard. Wooooooooooot.)

    Cole --> Azpi.
    Neg --> Aguero.
Ozil --> Johnson. (For one week only, probs. Trying to decide on a final midfielder and thought I'd take a punt. Keeping a close eye on Mr. Mata though!)

What's the latest on the Silva injury? I have Coleman and Chester both confirmed out and don't really want to play Colback. I would probably risk Silva -> Mata this week if I wasn't £0.1m short! United are out of pretty much everything so I'm hoping they will start to find form as other teams start suffering from fixture fatigue.

If Silva plays I'll probably bank my transfer. Was debating getting Bony in after watching Lukaku last week, but think I'll give him one last chance. It's a derby and we all know the big man has it in him to perform. I've had shocking luck with transfers recently dumping Yaya, Ade and Cabaye. Think the easiest thing to do is do nothing! Will give me two transfers next week to play with.

Possibly looking at Ozil, Lukaku, Coleman OUT for Mata, Bony and Baines. Bandwagons ahoy!

Also have Coleman and Chester out which would mean having to play Shaw at home to Arsenal. Either that or do Chester to Bruce but i'd really like to bank my transfer this week for a change.

Is Azpilicueta a liklier starter than Cole?

No news since FA cup game but he sat out the weekend as a precaution for a slight hamstring

Been starting ahead of him recently. Also Azpilicueta was rested v Stoke in the cup game. How long it lasts remains to be seen. Im going for Azpilicueta but am first to admit it's a risk. But a calculated one I hope.

Need some advice. Team is as follows:

    Boruc - Speroni

Ward - Chester (inj) - Sagna - Coleman (inj) - Nastasic (inj)

    Silva (a doubt) - Eriksen - Gerrard - Oscar - Noone

    Welbeck - Suarez - J Rod

Safe to say the wildcard 2 weeks ago hasn't worked out. Need to rectify a number of injuries, as well as not having Aguero, and Nastasic not playing. Also, although Gerrard has scored ok in the last 2 weeks, he's playing a defensive role, so could do with dumping him.

0.0 in the bank, and 2 free transfer. The aim is to get Aguero in, and to do that I will have to take at least a 4 point hit.

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

    Coleman out, Wes Brown in
    Silva out, Januzaj in
    Welbeck out, Aguero in

    leaving 0.5 in the bank.

By the looks of things your team value is quite low.
Gerrard, Oscar and Eriksen seem to be lower priced "premium" players and while any of them could have a good day, you need better for the money they cost. By the looks of things, Aguero and Suarez isnt really feasible for you without revising your entire midfield.

Will Januzaj get as much gametime (or scoring opportunities) now that Mata is at Utd?

Isn't Terry one of the few players to have played every PL minute for his team this year? Could be wrong but I thought I heard that stat round Xmas and don't remember him being rested since.

1 of 13 to have played every minute. 8 of them are goalkeepers though .

    Edit Here's the 13 if anyone's interested.

Ya, it was me who asked the original question, I already have Terry and I'm considering a one off punt on a Chelsea defender to replace Coleman before I play the wildcard next game week. There is absolutely no chance whatsoever that Terry will be rested while Chelsea can still win the league, zero, nil. For one thing he is playing as well as he has at any time in his career, he is solid as can be. Cahill is doing well alongside him but I just feel that there will be games for Luiz as well, he'll likely be playing centre back for Brazil this summer, I know that means zero to Mourinho but it certainly makes you think. He won't be required in midfield for Chelsea, I'd worry about Cahill playing every week.

Could this happen tonight? Have both him and Chester. Chester no way near a drop, dont want to get rid of Coleman, and with possible news of Ramsey back, would rather make changes elsewhere, ie, Ramsey.

    Is Coleman out for long?

Don't want to sell Coleman and have to buy him back for 5.8 million.

What are peoples thoughts on Ozil and Lukaku to Adam Johnson and Aguero (for free)?

I do have Chester, Coleman and Barkley out as well as Silva doubtful so should I sort that 1st? (Money won't allow the above transfer using Silva instead of Ozil)

Johnson has two nice fixtures coming up but look at his fixtures after that, in 4 weeks he has a blank week and City(A), Arsenal(A) and Liverpool(A), I looked at him today but wouldn't fancy that in case other transfers were pressing when that run comes up.

Team value is VERY low! 100.7m. Didn't make any transfers between GWs 4 and 16.

That's why I've had to go with Oscar instead of Hazard, Silva instead of Yaya and so on.

Without doing much research (which I should probably do!), I would have assumed Mata will be playing a central role? With Januzaj on the wing?

will wait til tomorrow to hear of any news on silva. Want to bank the transfer if possible but Chester to Bruce might have to be made just to make sure i can field a full team.

So with Cabaye going, is Cabaye - Ramsey and Ozil - Mata a good swap?

They already changed him from 75% chance of playing to 50% chance of playing today . Not sure why they haven't red flagged him though as he has been ruled out.

That might have delayed it by a night.

Thank you PSG. Transfer done tonight so I can benefit from Mata's price rise.

Cabaye out. Mata in. My plan was to stick with Cabaye, he was 7.2, and I have 2.3 free, so could take Mata's first rise, and then bring him in if wanted.

Now that Cabaye is gone though I'll just go with Mata.

Just wondering, used my one sub this week like last Saturday/Sunday and my luck it was Cabaye, is it tough luck for me and that sub is gone bye bye along with the player?

Yes, it's lost, unfortunately. That's why they give you a wildcard for January. If you still have it and activate it before todays match deadline you won't lose any points on any transfers.

That's a good point some people might not realize, you can change your team up until 7:30 tonight so by then you'll have all the team sheets to do some last minute panicking moving.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭The Wild Bunch

Annoys me how you have up to 7.30pm on midweek gameweeks but it's 11.30 on Saturdays, 1 hour 15 minutes before the 12.45 kick off and usually 20 minutes before team sheets are released

Mr.Prodston, what's the lowdown on Ryan Bennett. Obviously last week's 15 pointer was an absolute freak, but I'm looking for a cheap defender to replace Chester, and Norwich seem to rotate well when I need a possible 2 pointer.

He won't be a starter for me, but is he likely to become a regular fixture in the Norwich team? Seems to come in and out of the team at the moment. Is he covering for other injuries or has he been missing due to injuries?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Holding on to a injuried Coleman and Chester. Chester not droping, cant see Coleman being out for more than one FW. Saving a transfer for next week, which will hopefully includ Ramsey, waiting to see what happens tonight first.

Already took a 4 point hit to sort out my injury ravaged defence. Now I face the prospect of having Collback in my midfield as Cabaye is heading to PSG so that rules him out of the Norwich game.I can afford Mata,so should I risk another hit or wait?

I think this week of all weeks, Mata is worth a 4 point hit ahead of someone who isn't playing.

The other hit isn't entirely relevant to this though because it has already happened and can't be changed, if Mata scores 4 or more above the likely 1 point Colback will get, it is a good decision, possibly even if he scored less than that given you've gotten rid of Cabaye long-term too saving yourself a transfer in future weeks. That is difficult to quantify in points though.

Would you not be better off waiting to see if you could find out whether Mata starts first? I understand you've only radio but theres a good chance you could have got it there before 7:30 deadline

had planned on making no transfer this week but am now debating getting in mata.
My only slight worry with mata is if him, fellani, rvp and rooney all start tonight thats 4 players starting that have had little or no gametime in the last 4/5 weeks.

I'll do my best to remove bias here. Ryan Bennett will play while Turner is out unless Hughton swoops for a CB between now and Friday. I heard Scott Dann's name being mentioned so Lemlin may know more about Blackburn players but Hughton rejected that talk yesterday I think.

On to Bennett himself. He's been covering injuries and suspensions and been dropped like a hot cake as soon as a viable option returns. It's not clear how long Turner is out but it'll be a number of weeks anyway so you may have to make a transfer in a month. Bennett won't be 1st choice this season, unless he puts in super performances in the next while and even then I wouldn't be confident. In my opinion he can be quite rash at times but in the short term you could pick him up and move to Turner or Ollson for a little extra when Turner comes back. With Alex Tettey back I see Norwich tightening up, he's been a loss in midfield. So yeah I wouldn't dissuade you from Norwich's defence but just to be aware that if you go for Bennett he's only covering injuries etc

Turner was injured for the 2 games he didn't play against Palace and Liverpool. He picked up the injury in training after the press conference so no news sources had info until the pre and post match interviews. He came straight back in which is telling in and of itself

Palace actually had a fee of 4 mil agreed for Dann. He couldn't agree terms though. Blackburn signed him for a large fee in the PL days so he is on large wages.

The rumour is Norwich have only offered 2 million, half the Palace agreed figure.

Blackburn will let him go if Norwich up their offer.
