I watched a chase today on TV3. The team of 3 got an outstanding 25 with 42K in the kitty. The Beast was flying along and seemed a shoe in to catch them but suddenly he started missing questions, no way he should be missing. He had 9 seconds on the clock to catch 2, even after all the misses and is asked a question about Vinnie Jones (re the tattoo of the FA Cup) Instead of even passing he just let the time go.
I am convinced he let them win. Only time, apart from that Celeb Chase bullsh*t programme where I am pessimistic about the Chasers efforts.
I wonder do the producers have to ensure that a certain amount win a Final Chase each series. Otherwise it would become a tad boring. I would like to think not, but after that Chase it is playing on my mind a bit.

You'd be livid if you watched today's ITV episode, I'm annoyed more than I ever should be about a tv quiz show!

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

What sort of box do they have? Actual freesat or one they haven't to tune in, or is it one with an Aerial near the border?

Not sure but I suspect it's the latter...

Jesus Christ. I'd be fuming if I was on that team with those wasters today. Three low offers. I'd pass every single question in the final chase. It really is pot luck what kind of team you end up on.

It's free on satellite. If that's not an option ITV can also be found on the Film On app.

Signal strength would be my wholly uneducated guess then! I know part of UK I used to go on holiday you could get bbc and few other channels fine but not ITV on loop aeriel.

Trust me though, I currently feel like Michael Douglas in Falling Down after watching that ITV episode, so you've dodged a bullet. :)

    What happened?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,285 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

    What happened?

The cardinal sin of The Chase. Player one gets 9 grand, player two takes low offer of 300, player 3 takes minus one, player 4 minus 2.

Player 2 was slightly thick but they'd have all got home comfortably if they took what they made: 3, 4 and 5 grand.

In the grand scheme of things, nothing, but in The Chase scheme of things, a case for imprisonment without parole.

He just tweeted he got his door!

A target of 3 immediately followed by three contestants taking lower offers... I wouldn't be too surprised if ITV's bosses and accountants were píssing themselves with excitement. :o:o:D;)

What is going to happen today, I wonder...? :D;)

I missed that one, did they at least answer a few in the final builder?

If they want to fix the show they could at least give questions which do not suit the chaser. Just like on celeb editions you might see questions which are obviously suited to one of the celebs.

I only have virgin broadband, all the analogue channels still come in on the same line to 4 tv points in the house, I am in Dublin, in some places there is none, perhaps areas of dublin too. There are about 16-18 channels, enough stations for me and then an android box with kodi along with it.

Some people seem to think you cannot do the old style tuning in anymore since saorview came out.

    edit: found the list

I wonder what kind of vested interest the chaser has in these, and also whether they're given instructions beforehand as to how much in total they can offer as the higher, gambling choices the players can make? They seem to get so frustrated particularly in the final chase if it isn't going well, that one wonders if they get a bonus or something for beating the team, hence an actual incentive to play as hard as they can :D

I've thought about this and I'd imagine avoiding a slagging from the other Chasers would be well enough incentive.

I doubt they are on commission, per se. I would like to know the episode breakdown. Obviously, The Beast gets the most episodes, followed by more or less an equal division between The Dark Destroyer and Anne. Then The Sinha man and Jenny would get the least. So that would be reflected in their contracts somewhat.

To be fair, the offers are generally predictable. 1st person, say, gets 4K in their builder will get an offer of 1K or 26K,

If 1st contestant gets through, taking middle offer, they will get offered circa the same, maybe 10K more

Last contestant will generally get an offer to take their prize money up and beyond 60K, 70K etc

It is always rounded up and depends on those through. The lower offers become predictable also, depending on the situation. IE how many are through, what they built up.

That's what I reckoned. It's not their own money they're offering so to be fair, it has to be the director who makes those kind of decisions.
