Good interest shown in Spawell site by County Board for 25000 seater stadium, 4 training pitches and ancillary facilities. Unable to post links however it is in todays sports supplement.

Is that for county? Would it be for league matches and the likes?

Would appear to be so. To offer the middle ground between Parnell Park with 9000 and Croker.

Who do people think will come out on top in the first of the semis next week, Vinnie's or Ballymun?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

Ballymun. Fancy them to win Leinster and AI too. Depending on Jamsie being fit, but I think 'injury' last week was more resting than anything serious.

Yep they have three starters from the county team in defence .

And Whelan is a decent scoring player.
Rock on frees and Ted takes watching , fine team

They probably should have won it three years ago. Rcok wouldn't miss those chances now and the rest of team have improved.

Yeah. Philly and McCarthy were poor that day too though weren't they.

I think that was the year that McCarthy was nearly suffering from exhaustion. He was pretty lethargic

I don't know. Vincents are always the more composed side when they meet. Ballymun froze a bit last year i thought.

Just reading on Twitter that Paul Flynn got 7 points from play for Fingallians today.

They did and in the final a few years back, but they are improving IMO and Vincent's aren't.

IMO BK are the most important team feeding the county side now. I'm hoping they'll get over the line, just for the lads. Vincent's have a couple now.

Think the occasion got to them. Rock definitely fluffed tow great chances that would have won it. mind you they were playing a team that is as tough as old boots as they proved again yesterday.

Agree that they are team on way up whereas Vinnies best days are behind them. Really looking forward to it. Should be some game.

I always think Ballymun on paper, but in recent times they always seem to fold against vincents when they put them under a bit of pressure.

I will definitely be going to it, if it is half as good as the two games (draw and a replay) from a few years back it would be worth it.

It is about time Ballymun do it under pressure so I will go for them by the narrowest of margins.
Maybe they have learnt from past losses at last?

It is funny though, after seen Judes snuff out attacks this year, with such great effect and organisation, I think Judes might have enough to win the thing outright regardless of who wins between the mun and vins.

You heard it here first! :D

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

They made an awful balls of that all-ireland final v the rossies Brigids. They were something like 8 points up and threw it away. I am not sure if Ballymun have a complacency issue or is it just lose focus, crack under pressure or what?

On paper Ballymun would give most inter-county teams a rattle, but given the quality of players available to them I think they are underachieving.

They are a much more mature team now. I see they have been cut from 7/4 to 11/10.

Am guessing that this is because Jamsie is fit to play.

Brigids are excellent team. They looked like they were on the ropes yesterday when Pearses came back from 6 down, and then got what would normally be a killer goal with a few minutes left. Brigids responded with two of their own in as many minutes. Them and Corofin will be some game.

I was sitting next to their bench last year when they were playing Vincents and the air of tension was palpable. The team played a bit like that on the day. One or two mistakes happened early and it just crushed them.

Its something they can address though.

Corofin and Brigids avoid one another in the semis. Corofin have Knockmore or Castlebar and Brigids have Aughawilliam. Brigids will hammer Aughawilliam. Know nothing about Knockmore other than they beat Breaffy. Castlebar will give Corofin a game but expect Corofin to win.

Hadn't realised that Breaffy have never won Mayo and only been in two finals, both in last three years. Obviously the O'Sheas are only thing keeping them competitive.

Junior Title in 1996. Intermediate Title in 2004. It's only in the last 7 years or so that Breaffy have become an established Senior Club really.
Small village/club than has seen huge growth in the last 20 years.

You're doing a disservice to Hennelly, 3 All Ireland U-21 winners this year (Hall, Irwin, Ruane) and a handful of other players that have represented the County well at underage. A very good underage structure in place at the club these days. Bar a 40 year old sweeper and Seamie, the rest of the team are 27 or under iirc. Would still be a Senior Club without the 3 brothers but dreams of a first Senior Title would be distant.

Ballymun now 5/6, having opened at 2/1. That's quite a shift in betting on one game. McCarthy is obviously starting. I wonder are there injuries on Vinnies side?

    Advantage Vincent's now.
Ballymun just seem to panic and fill the togs at the sight of them.
Vincents aren't great but are some bit composed.
