Fair enough on Brogan, lads. Not sure I would drop him, but I would think about it if I were JG.

Just read on the 42 , when Dublin were chasing the game Enright gave away three frees on brogan, all popped over. I think half of Rocks 8 frees yesterday were for fouls on Brogan, could be wrong but I'm not far off.

Many times I've thought Brogan had a quiet game, and the opposition can think he was curtailed, but the stats show a different story.

It's almost an achievement to stop him scoring a goal.

His wides yesterday helped paint a picture though

I think when you're in Croker and not watching it on tv that you can only see what he gives to the team, his work ethic and selflessness should be commended.

And lets be honest, he still scares defenders ****less, so he'll always be well marshalled.

I've said it here already a few times, I think Flynns form has took a nosedive the last 2 years.

Is Flynn struggling in the new system or is it just him form though?

I think with Kilkeeny taking a much more prominent role he seems to struggle to get on the ball. He could play a vital role in helping to marshal the Mayo halfback line in the final so I wouldn't be overly concerned for him.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I would have to agree. Sunday was his "worst" performance in a while. But, I qualify that in just that before he was taken off I hadn't really noticed him do much.

I'll get a chance tonight to re-watch the match and we'll see.

I've said before he's my favourite player to ever see wear the sky blue.

I think the heights he scaled in 2013/14 are unlikely to be hit again. His intelligence is so good though that he is worth having out in the field, especially if we're chasing games and you need a calm outlet.

    That's actually a fair point.

Fair enough. Maybe I am judging him by standards that are too high. There was so much going on during the game, that it was so hard to follow every player's performance propery. Like I said earlier, I am not sure I would drop him, but I would certainly think about it. You lads are probably all right though. Question I ask myself, would the Mayo dressing room be happy to hear Brogan isn't starting? Given the answer is definitely yes, that probably tells a tal.

I was at Croker. It is great for looking at a player's workrate alright. Problem I have is that there is too much going on to get a real sense of every player's performance. I had a good close look at Connolly, Cooper, Donaghy, Philly, Enright, etc. I thought I had a decent look at Brogan too. But for instance, I have no real idea how Kilkenny played when he wasn't on the ball. I thought he was quiet enough, but probably because (for some reason) my eyes weren't drawn to him. I couldn't take my eyes off him in the quarter final.

    Bang on about Flynner.

I know what you mean, in that regard I wasn't really watching Cian
On Kilkenny he has become some player,

I've raised it a couple of times but there's little appetite to discuss the subs on Sunday .

O'Gara Mannion Andrews for flynn Small and MDMA. Very attack minded, no Daly no Bastic no Lowndes inspired kerry to take Geaney off, talk about not doing your own thing

I noticed too that Shane Carthy wasn't on the bench, in thought he'd been shaping up well.

Connelly and Kilkenny are so versatile, but Kilkenny is controlling a lot of the pace in Dublins play. How he just stood there while Donaghy spun around him was very impressive he has developed into the footballer we all hoped he would IMO, less attacking but his understanding, reading the game and setting the tempo has developed a lot.

I heard the government aren't going to appeal the Apple Tax findings and all 13 billion has been set aside for Dublin GAA.

Well for a start we need to buy a private jet to transport CK down from gweedore over the next few weeks

    Anyone see this?

    Looks like it's dropping short.

Incidentally, I once saw a Galway lad try and jump the width royal canal en route to a game. He dropped short too.

Conor Lane to ref the final.

I hate this fella. He'll ruin the spectacle in a couple of weeks. Allows virtually no contact in the tackle.

Ah no, he seems to put himself at the centre of attention far too often.

Fingers crossed he has a decent game.

I see Brolly had some nice words to say about us in the Indo yesterday.

    I always liked him :D

He quotes Herrigal about Japanese archery, Herrigal was full of crap about japanese archery

    Much like Joe about football

Ah Joe would drive you mad, he can't let anyone finish a sentence on the TV without shouting over them, he's an incredibly rude person.

Joe Brolly is the least of our worries right now. We've another Up For The Match to suffer through.

Bit of a random question but I thought someone here would know. Does Bertie Ahern still go to Dublin matches? If so what sort of reception does he get? I think Biffo still goes to some Offaly matches and gets on fine. Don't know how Kenny will get on when he leaves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,569 ✭✭✭✭ProudDUB

Yeah, I've seen him in the Lower Hogan a few times. Never seen him get any bother. People are more focused on the game, than giving 'celebs' a hard time.

Jayus that is a good question.

I remember he turned up in his helicopter when he was Taoiseach in parnell park.

Then as he was going into the crowd some fella "roared go on Bertie ya Bollix!"

I distinctly remember the fella beside me got two autographs in his programme one from Sean Boylan and the other from the bould Bertie himself.

It was around the time Bertie was having to justify a "gift"/dig out he received in sterling.

I have not seen Bertie at matches since but I saw yer man Leo Varadar at a Dublin County final trying not to look bored.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Is it amongst other Dub fans though? They'd have no reason to abuse him.

When I've seen him, he's been sitting in the Ard Comhairle section, in with the other VIPS and bigwigs. We have just as much reason as anyone else to despise the fcuker.
