If either of these boxers had to fight a heavy weight say klitschko is there any chance at all they could win.

I think we will see a sincere effort from both. I can't say much about the rest though, everything is stacked in Floyd's favour.

Not much has ever been honest and true from one side in this. Speaking of PED's, at least we know Manny is a clean fighter.

How exactly can you claim to know manny is clean?

Not saying he's not by the way.

I find those questions interesting. Like how 122 lbs Rigondeaux would fare against 147 lbs Manny or Floyd.

More interesting would be a 175-180 lbs Kovalev against a 240 lbs Klitschko!

Well surely he is presumed clean anyway? His whole career is a testament.

Aside from that- he takes VADA testing every fight, it's the most stringent.

No dirty fighter would agree to that (and neither will Mayweather as an aside)

His whole career is the reason people are suspicious, moving through 8 divisions, retaining power and KO'ing naturally much bigger men is pretty unusual, and some would suggest, pretty difficult without cheating.

Vada are certainly the most stringent testing org in fight sports, but unfortunately all testing regimes are inherently beatable.

All we have is hearsay and conjecture that either man Id guilty of anything, it's down to individuals to make their own judgement as to who they feel is clean, etc. what I will say is it's daft to suggest with certainty that somebody is clean while casting aspersions on another.

Personally I'm beyond the point of ever presuming any athlete is clean anymore, people will obviously have differing views but that's where I'm at with modern sports in general.

In fairness the issue has been a subplot to this fight since 2010, pointless expecting people not to discuss it.

Passing the relevant drugs test? Sure who gives a fcuk about that?

    I am being ironic BTW.

Did you watch the video you quoted?

There's a good one about Heredia too!
All we have is hearsay and conjecture that either man Id guilty of anything,

All we have is hearsay and conjecture that Pacquiao is guilty of that.

He's not the first person to move up in weight and beat bigger guys.

Sugar Ray Robison is one example and I'm sure there are many more.
what I will say is it's daft to suggest with certainty that somebody is clean while casting aspersions on another.

On the other hand we have a guy (Mayweather) with all the evidence!

He goes for vampire facials, blood doping, gets a pass for the Xylocaine.

Wont do VADA. Has tested dirty several times but gets exemptions etc.

So really it's not when you take all of the evidence into consideration, no.

The charter forbids making unfounded allegations against fighters. Doesn't say anything about discussing doping in general.

Not sure if Sky Sports are showing it live. Haven't checked their schedule for today.

It appears that it's not. Poor form.

Why can't people talk about PED's. It's relevent to the discussion of the fight after all and adds to the discussion.

Looks like I'm not going to be near a telly for this. Does anyone on here know of a reputable online source where I could purchase this fight??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 344 ✭✭Panic E

The weigh in isn't until late tonight? I wasn't aware of that charter here.

If someone brings up PED's though they could at least try and stick to facts.

Unsubstantiated allegations or hinting at same could get boards in legal hot water that's why

I'm not with you. That's a link to book the fight for your home account.

@efbman Hi Efbman, Sky box office is not available via Sky Go at the moment, to view the fight you would need to watch via your set top box. To continue improving our services, please rate us here http://www.lithium.vovici.net/se.ashx?s=705E3F085B7AB9D6&asid=IK1&convid=2942729 Thanks Iain

I read the request as an online source to purchase the fight, not necessarily an online source to purchase and watch.

    I interpreted it incorrectly.

I read it as near TV to watch- it can be booked by phone..
I'm sure Boxer Fan will clarify. I don't want anyone paying €25 and not seeing it

Hi guys. Hoping someone can answer a couple of questions about the boxing titles in as simple a way as possible. Firstly, I see Mayweather is the WBA SUPER champion while Kevin Thurman is the regular champion. What did Mayweather do to achieve this status? And if Pacquiao were to win on Saturday, would he become super champion or would he displace Thurman as regular champion, leaving no super champion? Also, if someone who holds 2 belts loses to someone with none, does the winner take both belts? Finally, after the fight on Saturday, will the winner be 1,2, or 3 fights away from unifying the division? Seen all suggested by various sources. Thanks in advance, been scouring the net for hours with no answer that makes any sense to me.

He beat Marcos Maidana to win that belt... Boxing is very weird in the sense that there are belts for nearly everyone in a division (not even an exaggeration), from super champion to regular champion to silver champion etc. It's a joke, there should be only one champ per organisation... What it means for Thurman is that he's higher up the list of Floyd's mandatory fights but then again Floyd and mandatory doesn't exist.

Obviously Manny will become super champ if he wins as he is fighting the super champ Floyd, and not Thurman the regular champ. Floyd will be WBO champ if he wins as that's the belt Manny holds.

The winner of the belts depends what belts are on the line. Tomorrow, the WBA, WBC, The Ring and the WBO's belts are on the line so whoever wins will have all those belts. After tomorrow nights fight there will be only two welterweight champions (if indeed tomorrow doesn't end in a draw), Floyd/manny and Kell Brook, the IBF champ...therefore they are each one fight away from becoming undisputed champ after tomorrow.
