Who's going to announce the fighters names in the ring? Michael Buffer or Jimmy Lennon jr?

Both. It's a co promotion, just like Tyson-Lewis in 2002!

Buffer announces Manny and Lennon announces Mayweather!

I enjoyed the Legends Speak programme. Interesting question on who throws the first punch. I am going with Mayweather. Either a long left hook or a sting body jab! Maybe Flanna can include this on one of his crazy ass bets!

Most of them picked Mayweather in 'The Legends Speak'. I was surprised by that

Yeah true, and the winner will be announced by (Buffer)

I think it's more 0530-0545 for the main event

Yea I agree, I can't see it being as early as 4am. Floyd v Canelo was a 6am start if I remember rightly.

Interesting. They will alternate on reading the results.

This fight as far as I know has 3 fights in total, not the typical 4 for these events. Maybe that will see Floyd and Manny in the ring just before 0500?

Anyone else concerned by how lucrative a rematch would be ?

I mean generally I wouldn't be the type to buy into conspiracies or that a result was fixed (unless it's a Mickey Rourke in Russia type scenario)....but with the amount of money that's at stake you can't guarantee anything is going to be on the level here.

I hope for boxing's sake we get a good entertaining fight anyway. Far too often the big fights don't deliver and opportunities to grow the sport are missed.

Not at all surprised. As mentioned by me and maybe others the whole build up and negotiations and cosiness of it all doesn't instill complete confidence in me that this is all genuine and sincere and real. With such egos and money involved then I don't see it as at all surprising that elements may well be choreographed.

What's everybody doing to watch this? Buying it in or watching it in a pub?

Will the couple of places in town that are showing it have good atmosphere seeing as it's going to be a hard slog to wait until 4am-6am?

I've only ever watched these fights myself at home, don't know what a pub in town will be like.

Bed at 11, up at 3, cup of coffee, crack open a can after that. It's the only way I can guarantee seeing these early hours fights. From experience trying to stay up till 5am gargled or dry is a tough task. I think the pub would be a disaster for this.

The last time I could thing that Mayweather was in an entertaining fight was the first few rounds of the Hatton fight and even at that Cortez ruined the flow of the fight. I wouldn't be surprised if Bayless is a key talking point come Sunday.

In terms of growing the sport and getting more casuals tuned in, the promotion for this has been awful but then again I don't think growing the sport is either of their concerns.

To be fair I thought the first Maidana fight was damn exciting. I initially had the feeling that it would be Mayweather's easiest fight since Baldomir (with the exception of Guerrero), and then after 4 rounds with Mayweather getting caught with some big shots and telling his corner he can't see......well I genuinely thought it was 50/50 at that point whether he would win or not.
My heart rate was gone through the roof aswell !

Agreed. I might even get to bed at 4 and get up for midnight and start watching from when Sky start the broadcast! I hope Saturday is a miserable and wet and dark day!

I have this booked and confirmed with Sky. I found it odd that nowhere through the online booking process or confirmation email did they state the channel that this event is on. Anyone know?

I know your not allowed ask about streams but does anyone use any reliable legal streams for boxing that you pay for?

Are we going to have to listen to Nick Halling and Jim Watt for the biggest fight of our lives? The thought of it makes me despair. I have asked Sky Sports on twitter a couple of times if they will offer an alternative commentary stream but they haven't answered. In the US they get, I think, Jim Lampley, Al Bernstein and Roy Jones, and on the international feed it's Mauro Ranallo and Bernard Hopkins. Whereas we get Halling and Watt. Ughh.

I don't like Watt or Halling. The colonel, Sheridan is even worse. He spends the whole commentary arse licking Mayweather.

I know what you mean. Doesn't help that Watt says "Puncheese" every 10 seconds. Soon grates on you excuse the pun.

I agree. The meeting in Mannys hotel room with Koncz & Mayweather makes me extra suspicious. It makes money sense 😀

I don't know how you found that exciting. Anytime Maidana got in close, Tony "stop stop stop" Weeks would jump in. I know entertainment is subjective and Mayweather is brilliant to watch but I was never in a delirious state watching his fights post Hatton anyway.

It was exciting in the sense that Mayweather looked so uncomfortable and at times lost for how to handle Maidana. The big big upset seemed on the cards during the fight.

Yeah it's because Hatton was on route to beating him until 'winky wanky' Cortez stopped him from fighting his fight.

As for the promotion. I agree, guess what- Floyd contractually had full control over it. I've come to the conclusion he mustnt want too many people tuning into the fight for some reason. Has he promoted it? Maybe so he can say 'look, look, me and x did bigger numbers Manny aint Sh!t'

Thats exactly what he's like. And yes Manny is really up against it here. It's Mayweathers local pub. Did you know Manny didn't even receive a gratuitous ticket or invite to the hotel? Pro Mayweather judges also. And Bayless proved himself to be on TMT in the last fight with Maidana regrettably.

Apart from the first round, I'm struggling to see how you can make out that Mayweather was 'so uncomfortable'.Maidana was just wild with that overhand right and to my mind, Floyd never looked lost or out of control.

The only time in recent years were I'd say Floyd looked really uncomfortable for a couple of rounds was because of Ricky Hattons footwork. Plausible examples could include Mosley and Maidana II but they were individual rounds more than anything.
    Fight 1!

C'mon, it was a weak performance from Floyd. He never established any consistent rhythm in the fight. He resorted to ducking and diving and holding and the referee breaking them up for a lot of it. He was uncomfortable. Looked very disjointed in both fights, and his offense was limited and lacked real effectiveness.

He held Maidana over 70 times in that fight. He should have lost points.

*Score with a straight, clinch, Bayless breaks them up, repeat*

70 times. It's well detailed in the previous video I posted.

Your description doesn't exactly portray excitement.

I know what you mean. I meant excitement in the sense of what is happening here? That is how I felt it. Mayweather for me looked lost at times and bothered. I know that might not be exciting for some, but as you said, subjectivity is the key.

Exactly. Having to resort to that kind of tactic showed me that Floyd was very uncomfortable in many parts of that fight. Added to his ducking low, back peddling and elbowing etc. He never established an effective offensive weapon to beat Miadana. It was swing and swipe kind of offense. Lacked real substance and consistency.

You will definitely like the video on the previous page.

All of these things does not a great fighter make.
