Is anyone considering getting a Southampton defender back in? Their tough run is pretty much over now. In the next 10 weeks they only have two games against teams in the top half. At this stage they would be a decent differential.

Ye I more than likely will once clyne or boruc are back. I think apart from the top 8 they are the best of the rest and have just suffered lately due to really tough fixtures, the loss of boruc( as gazzaninga would be more suited to dodgeball:pac:) and other injuries/suspensions.

He knows how to defend too ;)

Finally decided to settle on this team, it also leaves me with 0.7m in the bank so far (should be 0.8m by the next gameweek) which allows me to bring in Aguero for Rooney when he's fit.

For me, I'm either going Chester/Marshall or Ben Turner/McGregor. So I'll have a defender and goalkeeper from each. The thing about it is, whichever defender I pick, is going to play very little as I have my three expensive defenders and play 3-5-2 so its pretty much a shoot out between the goalkeepers.

I've analysed the three teams and the fixtures left:

    GW Sunderland Cardiff Hull
21 Fulham (away) West Ham (home) Chelsea (home)
22 Southampton (home) Man City (away) Norwich (away)
23 Stoke (home) Man United (away) Crystal Palace (away)
24 Newcastle (away) Norwich (home) Tottenham (home)
25 Hull City (home) Swansea (away) Sunderland (away)
26 Man City (away) Aston Villa (home) Southampton (home)
27 Arsenal (away) Hull City (home) Cardiff (away)
28 West Brom (home) Tottenham (away) Newcastle (home)
29 Liverpool (away) Fulham (home) West Ham (away)
30 Crystal Palace (home) Everton (away) Man City (home)
31 Norwich (away) Liverpool (home) West Brom (home)
32 West Ham (home) West Brom (away) Stoke (away)
33 Tottenham (away) Crystal Palace (home) Swansea (home)
34 Everton (home) Southampton (away) Man United (away)
35 Chelsea (away) Stoke (home) Arsenal (home)
36 Cardiff (home) Sunderland (away) Fulham (away)
37 Man United (away) Newcastle (away) Aston Villa (away)
38 Swansea (home) Chelsea (home) Everton (home)

That looks a bit messy because I don't know how to put it into a table. Now, the thing is, I think Hull are alot better defensively than Cardiff but then Marshall rotates so well with Mannone.

I'm happy to field Mannone for the next three GWs (Fulham away and then Saints and Stoke home) and will see how Cardiff are doing under Ole then.

I'm playing around with this team for my wildcard in a few weeks.

    Harper to McGregor
    Coleman to Baines
    Sagna to Zabaleta
Nasri to Silva (will do that this week, pre-wildcard)
Morrison to Johnson (Colback if any of the others drop by £0.1m in the next two weeks)
    Rooney to Aguero
    Lukaku to Adebayor

    jb0it5.png

I have no problems getting in Johnson as it's likely I will never use my fifth mid. Christmas/Jan is the main time when you need all three subs. Obviously Colback is preferable though, and I think Aguero will drop again.

What do people think? Back three of Baines, Mertesacker and Zabaleta and a massively strong front 7. Might look at Cabaye to Eriksen/Ramsey but would mean holding on to Sagna and dumping Mert.

Very good team. Get Ward in for Gabbidon for the extra 0.1 and get a starting midfielder for 4.2 instead of Johnson. No point reducing your squad to 14 for the sake of 0.1 and Ward is a better option than Gabbidon anyway as he's playing in midfield at the moment.

Mannone in goal anyway unless the Julio Cesar rumours have more truth in them. After that I don't know yet really. Right now my defence looks like it would be Kos, Coleman, Mickey T, Ward and ___.

I'm toying with Baines in for a few weeks as a safe place to help fund Aguero. I've only started to think really though but that's as far as I'm at so far.

Gonna be so many identikit teams for the rest of the year!

I'd like to think I'll be trying something a little different. My midfield won't have Hazard or Yaya. I'm not sold on Aguero unless he really carrys on from where he left off, just nice to have the option. Mickey Turner will be owned by pretty much myself :pac: If I go for Ozil/Gerrard/Couts or even Erikson they're not fully mainstream.

It'll be inevitable that they're be a convergence in teams but I'll try and have a few differentials anyway.

One thing to remember folks for your wildcards, the Carling Cup final occurs in GW28.

Now, hopefully City and United make the final so just that game is off (United and City are due to play that weekend in the league quite handily) but other ties at jeopardy are:

    Sunderland vs West Brom
    West Ham vs Everton.

Kind of depends on whether you're playing catch up or not. Last year I was leading the leagues I wanted to in January so wildcard allowed me to keep as generic as possible with the usual 5 mids and RVP captain every week, whereas others needed to be more creative to try and get points from differentials.

This year I'm doing more catch-up so a few differentials will be needed. Baines instead of Coleman the obvious one (still anti-Coleman!) but maybe RVP or somebody instead of Aguero depending on how both do after injury

Think that's a good idea.....is their any indication of when Boruc is back,?

Appreciate advice on simple ?....during wildcard month.... Can you 'toy' around with your team by activating wildcard and then picking possible teams......and then cancel transfers as it asks you to 'confirm' wildcard or are you locked into using it during that GW if ya start to mess with your team?

    Hope that makes sense :)

You're locked into the GW that you activate it in but you can make unlimited transfers in that GW.

Say Player A costs 5m, so you get him in. Within 2 days he increases to 5.2m. You can sell him then for a 0.1 profit and buy someone else. So you've had player A in your team during WC week but never intended keeping him. He was purely there to make profit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,385 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Don't transfer players out though (that have gone up in value since you signed them) if you're going to want them back for GW 21 though. You'll lose out on precious .1s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,253 ✭✭✭Steven81

Yes but if you bought a player and then transfer him out seeing what team you can make and activate wildcard and then want to get him back later this week you will be paying full price for him so keep what players you want to keep that you have made money on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,883 ✭✭✭Bleating Lamb

Thanks....thought that was the case alright..think I will keep WC till last GW

Here's my current team.....did v poorly during Sept/Oct as hadn't Ramsey and Yaya....doing ok now.
    Krul / Mc Gregor
J Evans Nathan Baker Coleman Dawson G Cameron
Yaya Toure Barkley Sterling Oscar Cabaye
    Remy Suarez Rooney

    Team V- 105.1m. In the bank -1.3m

So have a bit of money for WC
Thinking of dumping Remy for Adebayor as FT for this GW
Or should I improve one of Defenders.
    Advice always welcome......am a rookie!

Ouch dude. Most of the players that are going to rise by 0.2 have already risen by 0.1

Go to http://totalfpl.com/pricechanges and sort by "Change Today". You can see how is getting most attention.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,029 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

It's way way down the list of my possible teams but there are a lot of players/combos to watch over the next few gameweeks, and this one of them.

Haven't really put much thought in defence/keepers, but here's a team with RVP, Aguero and a Liverpool striker... (I've tried putting a team in with Suarez and it destroys the rest of the team, you could flip that around and say that putting RVP in destroys it tbf)

    Plenty of differentials!!!
Thanks to this forum, this team is now seen as too much of a gamble for me, but I'd have been all over it a few months ago :D:o

    have also wildcarded

    Excited about new arrivals Eriksen+Rodriguez

The value on these guys is just so good IMO

Form, value, and this is a great week to bring them in fixture wise.

when Kun returns (with a demonstration of form), will downgrade my 5 mil def (currently Evans) to a cheapie and upgrade Roo

Didn't have big 3 earlier and no plans for future either such is the range of options in mid

    Only the 2 transfers?
Would you have not considered taking a 4 point hit this GW and stored the WC?

Ah no apologies, I made a number of other transfers, including Mig to Mannone. I also had a few injuries+non starters on bench.

I would not have been able to bring in Erikson+Rod otherwise without -8.

Could have kept WC, but not bothered:

Obviously will be looking at Silva, Ramsey, Kun, Ozil. But these guys could be brought in fairly easy with direct transfer if I feel the need. Also a bit cautious about injured players immediately returning to form.

    My front 7

    Haz Toure Wally Erikson
    Suarez Roo JRod

kos, mert and eriksen but as futureguy mentioned you have probably missed the boat on making profit apart from potentially those 3.

I put the fixtures into a table there to make it easier to read, it's a nice breakdown and something I have my eye on myself:

    GW Sunderland Cardiff Hull
21 Fulham (away) West Ham (home) Chelsea (home)
22 Southampton (home) Man City (away) Norwich (away)
23 Stoke (home) Man United (away) Crystal Palace (away)
24 Newcastle (away) Norwich (home) Tottenham (home)
25 Hull City (home) Swansea (away) Sunderland (away)
26 Man City (away) Aston Villa (home) Southampton (home)
27 Arsenal (away) Hull City (home) Cardiff (away)
28 West Brom (home) Tottenham (away) Newcastle (home)
29 Liverpool (away) Fulham (home) West Ham (away)
30 Crystal Palace (home) Everton (away) Man City (home)
31 Norwich (away) Liverpool (home) West Brom (home)
32 West Ham (home) West Brom (away) Stoke (away)
33 Tottenham (away) Crystal Palace (home) Swansea (home)
34 Everton (home) Southampton (away) Man United (away)
35 Chelsea (away) Stoke (home) Arsenal (home)
36 Cardiff (home) Sunderland (away) Fulham (away)
37 Man United (away) Newcastle (away) Aston Villa (away)
38 Swansea (home) Chelsea (home) Everton (home)

looking at those hull home fixtures I'm not as interested in chester and mcgregor as I was.

I think the Filter on the right hand side says it all... :D

It's ballsy, but is it really needed?

No probably not i have a pretty decent team and really dont want to lose Coleman but think I would have multiple captain choices every week and a lot of goals
