Looks like a very strong team. Not personally sure Ade will really be better Lukaku although the extra £0.7m could be benefitial at some point (to get Ramsey for Cabaye for example if the former comes back in the same form he left).

I agree about Ade/Lukaku. I have the cash with that proposed team to keep Lukaku and I might just do that.

So I was going to play my WC in the first week of jan, considering it was the longest gap between weeks and to capital on changes.

Thn thinking the second week, due to FA Cup games.

Now thinking the last week, as its the end of the actual Transfer Window, and players could actually be transfered and either not available or less popular with new or exsisting managers for what ever reason.

    Thoughts?

Later the better I reckon. I certainly won't play it before FA Cup games

Plus, by the end of the transfer window you will have Aguero, Sturridge, Michu, Gerrard, Ramsey, Van Persie available again

Right spent a little while thinking about what I want to do with my wildcard and here's a very early template which I imagine could be very much in the mainstream thinking.

    30xbl0k.jpg

Considering my hipster tendencies I'll want some left-field players but right now that looks solid and covers most of the bases. Obviously I can't afford that team but it's a starting point to work off of.

Looking at going from this team to team below.
Jordan Mitch i am keen on, seems to offer alot for 4.5 and i want to keep some funds in the bank in case i need to swap Rooney to Aguero.

It's very like the team I will have soon. The front 8, bar Mutch, are my playing front 7 I'm looking at.

McGregor and Mannone are also my two keepers I've decided on. I just need to bring McGregor in. 4 of the back 5 are my back five.

I have Terry instead of Olsson. That said, my plan is to dump Terry when Aguero gets back so I can go Lukaku to Aguero if possible.

The keeper choice did come from your posts, you made a good case and plus it freed up money as i had Krul £5.1. I have missed the boat on Mert so he will cost me top dollar so a change to Sagna/Gibbs could be possible.

Aguero is the great mystery of the Jan WC, like you i would love to have him but i do worry about his fitness and his ability to get back to top form, being eased back in etc...

Are you sure about Lukaku? He earned a reprieve from me on Sunday but I still have an eye on Ade and Negredo. Ade was a great player for me two years ago. Like Lukaku, sometimes he mightn't play well yet manages to score well.

When is the last date the wildcard can be used? Is it GW23 or GW24?

I just don't see the point in looking for value in your strikers. It will more often than not be the main source of points, so it makes sense to go for the top 3 points scorers for that position, and then find the value elsewhere.

    Yeah I agree.

Imagine if Aguero and Van Persie hit the ground running in January - could be trying to afford nearly 40mil worth of strikers!

Yeah, would do it if I had to. Don't see RVP creeping back into my team this season though.

Each time i sold Lukaku he scored better than his replacement!! Quite possible i will look to move between him and Ade depending on funds, fixtures etc..

Ade and Lukaku are as frustrating as each other, could not even consider having both at the same, torture!

Moving between them would be even more frustrating though. Both the exact type of player that you're likely to get in and out at the wrong time. Would be worse than jussi/begovic rotation last year!

Pick one and hope to choose correctly! Lukaku is where i am now so probably stay there.

Think I'm going to hold out till the last week for the wildcard. Hoping there will be a double game week around then like last year. Been ahead of the curve for the popular transfers at the moment so my team is in good shape. I'll be going 2 top defenders and one each from Hull, Cardiff and Palace. Probably stick with Szcechzny for the season. Agüero and Suárez should be mainstays if fit. Silva, Hazard and Walcott should fit that profile too. The remaining positions will have a good deal of flexibility about them. One will def be a 4.5 or less midfielder that will only ever get me 2 or 3 points if needed. No risks type player that gets the 90. Juggling between Morrison and Januzaj has been annoying so far.

Jordan Mutch of Cardiff is one that fits the bill on that count, play's 90 every week and hits a decent score now and again.

I don't watch Cardiff too often, think I've only seen the United game this season. If one was to compare Mutch, to a player from one of the big 5 (sorry Spurs, Newcastle and Everton) who would it be?

Couldn't really answer that, i was looking at his "rap sheet" on the FPL website. Maybe someone else could give an answer to that.

Fairly happy with team at the minute although doubling up on Everton defenders hasn't worked out too well so far. Will probably leave wildcard until end of the month and maybe just get Arsenal gk or def in next week. Might keep Distin and do Mignolet to Szczesny. Any thoughts?

Think im holding out on planning my WC until early mad January kicked in.

Will get a basic template of 7/8 must have players and fill in the fringe players as Jan progresses

Hard to say really, maybe Henderson?. He's a CM playing in a AM position. Has good energy, gets around quite a lot and is a target at set pieces. He'll often play a bit deeper than you'd like but for the price there's noone better imo, especially as he's probably the place nailed down now thanks to some good performances recently.

Sigurdsson is a good comparison IMO. That said, I haven't watched a whole lot of him but seen the full 90 of the Sunderland game at the weekend and he was playing that sort of role.

I was thinking of him. He has performed well so far in a more advanced role than expected. Has taken chances well but can tend to disappear from games and sit deeper when Cardiff are holding a lead. I think I'd be too tempted to play him.

I was thinking more of a Livermore, Kasami, Jedinak or Parker type player. Almost guaranteed the 90. Not injured often. And If you ever need them you might get lucky with a rare goal or assist. They'll never have enough attraction to pick over your 4th playing midfielder.

Another reason to delay the wildcard is an obvious one I completely forgot about. The impact any January signings will have on teams.

Once the wildcard happens we're gonna have some SERIOUS identi-kit teams. I can't really remember last season all that well, but was it as template/obvious as this?

Probably worse , Most had Michu Bale Mata Fellaini & Walcott in midfield.

Definitely. Nearly every active team had about 6 or 7 identical players at the end of January wildcard. RVP, Suárez, Benteke, Bale, Michu, Walcott or Cazorla, Hazard or Mata and Fellani featured in most teams. Also City and United defenders as they were both keeping cleansheets. Swansea defenders too. Most notably Caulker. Begovic was most peoples keeper too.

Have to get rid of the rubbish. Boruc, Fer, Shelvey and Brady. Dunno what week to use the wild card. 5 months of regret then...

There's a tiny fraction of players who post here. I'd have fairly identical teams to most people here (coz we read the same news, tips, reccomendations), but would still be very different to most of my rivals in my own league.
