Just like to know, is it possible to use some of online trading platforms to buy and sell same shares within a day or hours?
Wanna use small investment but as many transactions as possible in one day. Is that possible???
From my experience it's easy to buy shares, but not so easy to sell them quick. I was trying +500, maybe there's a better one?

These shares are not listed on Irish stock exchange. Under which stock exchange are you trading from?

any decent brokerage worth their salt would be able to facilitate this request.

Hi Handsandtools. Any on-line platform could do this for you. You may be waiting a couple of minutes for processing, but the delay is 99% going to be waiting for an order to come in and match your price.
Any sells require a buy etc.
Trading quickly in shares such as day trading makes the liquidity of a share very important. If you buy shares that have high liquidity, like visa for example, then you'd sell them in seconds at the right price.

eg: Davyselect I use. They are okish. A bit too expensive to do quick turnarounds I would think.

kudos on Visa. I got them at 199. Loving them as it's like a predicted growth. They seem to be in a strong position to grow this year. Their SP growth is getting alot of help from emerging market penetration, It bodes well long term, but the recent US pull back and more expected could result in a slower growth. Hope they match the price of mastercard :)

Does day trading benefit you? As I understand that we need to pay cost for every transaction apart from a annual maintenance fee

Day trading can make a lot more profit if You now the right shares, but it's a bit more expensive and more risky. Good if you have a small budget and a lot of time.

Anyone reckon BT could be worth a go?

I expect their TV sports package to take off especially considering they've won the Champions League TV rights from Sky.

Took a good punt on Hurricane Energy (HUR.L) today in at £0.36p, good noises (BP, Artemis ,Blackrock, Standard Life are investors) being made about future prospects for the company which listed last week on AIM. Share was also recently tipped by The Times.

    stay out of bank stocks
stay out of airline stocks oil prices
texch stocks are bad only a few go up like google, watch apple go down, its cash reserve is keeping it up

irish stock are not very good unless they have foreign customers

also irish people don't buy into stock market for retirement, you also have irish debt that will haunt Ireland until 2030

the us government bond buying is stopping so expect stock prices to suffer

also stock prices went up when revenues did not,

Anyone taking advantage of the latest pullback in the US. I have an eye on a few including IBM, AIG, VOW, KO, PG, GM, F and BRK

I reckon there will be more bad news to come from the US that will push people out of the market which could indicate buying opportunities.

After selling my Vodafone lot last week, I've been busy reading several reports, lots of potential targets making decision making difficult.

In the end, I decided to buy GlaxoSmithKline and Diageo. P/E's are low, good divis, and the SP looked a little low (value).

I'll be happy to get 10-15% p.a. (SP growth + Divi) making them a safe and reliable performing investment.

Personally I think it is madness for anyone to be investing in consumer based stocks in the present time we are in. The stockmarkets are way over inflated after all the bond buying and currency printing of the last few years. If 2013 was the year of fantasy then 2014 will be the year of reality. Many people lost wealth in the last stock market fall. This time there wont be a recovery for a longer period as the failed policies that only succeeded in delaying the enevitable last time wont be of any use over the next 2 to 3 years as the recession/depression becomes a world wide problem and high inflation sets in from the extra currency in circulation. There are better assets than consumer stocks to make money in the next few years.

Don't know if this is the right thread or not but I was looking at the 'You on demand' shares, I believe this is a long term investment, Possibly end of the year or start of next before selling, Now I'm a total novice but have always been interested in investing in a company I have an inkling about, My question would be, Where would be the best place to go? Davy's etc for the longer investment, Advice much appreciated

I would recommend silver and gold mining stocks such as Hochchild, Affrican Barrick, Polymetal, Fresnillo and even Lonmin that deal mainly in platinum. The reason I mention these is that commodities such as gold and silver took a hammering in the last 2 years as their price was forced down. The US Federal reserve and its friends such as JP Morgan have been emptying the vaults to suppress these commodities and protray a picture of a healthy economy. These commodities act as red flags and the last thing they want is these alarm bells going off. However they are now running out of options to keep the price down especially as China seems to buying up most of it. The bottom is in for these companies and over the next 3 years these will go in the opposite direction of the stock markets when panic and fear sets in again.

    Taylor Wimpey
    Barrett Developments

Both FTSE 250 ,most of the gains by the end of March

Theirs a good chance one or both will enter the FTSE 100 at the next meeting of the FTSE committee in early March, which would put them on the radar of fund/pension managers that can only hold FTSE100 constituents, and both report earnings at the end of this month ,which should be very good .

I'm already in knee deep in both with multiple positions since last November ,but will be ball deep by the end of next week :p.

The first 1/4 House builder rally which I mentioned in my Santa Rally thread has paid off very nicely with average gains of 12% across the 7 housebuilders of the 250 in about 7weeks,playing a 10% game that's 120% in 7 weeks, its all good.
