The only one I'm on is Tomco Energy (http://www.tomcoenergy.uk.com/ ), been waiting a few years now under water, bought more recently as this year is probably boom or bust! DYOR :D

I'll look them up. I recently took a punt on Tower Resources (TRP.L) @ 4p

ICG, current SP around € 28.00 (YTD + 50%) and pays a good divi (> 3.5%). Back in 2009 this was down at € 10.00 and spent much of 2012 around € 12.00!

But look at it now, this stalwart of the ISEQ is sailing! ;)

No one recommended Intercept Pharmaceuticals ICPT :P

Yesterday shares were up over $200 to $275, or a 218% rise...how did we all miss that one  :pac:

For a real risk for buttons, check out Vialogy VIY.L, now at 0.15p (that's zero point one five pence per share). So 100,000 shares would cost you £150 !!

I'm going to watch the Boiler Room and check if any others were missed?:D

Hit $497 today. I went crazy and shorted 25 shares on the way down @ $437 and covered after 3 minutes @ $425. What a wild ride. That's my crazy trade of 2014 done and dusted. :)

Great call wenxue, up 50% since you posted, in less than a month, were up 75% on the 2nd of January, hopped on and off the carousel a couple of times on the way up.

I bought PLUG on December 27th for $1.64, sold a couple of days later for a very nice profit but look what I left behind, up 125% now, could have waited until the 8th January and made almost 200% profit (in little over a week!), hindsight is great, ifs and buts, that's why Warren Buffett does what he does and I do what I do.

Still no regrets, onwards and upwards, best of luck to all for 2014.

BMN Bushveld Minerals - massively undervalued after II selling (non company direct reasons) and now have 4 platforms of news due (overdue actually) currently 5.5p with a q1 target of 10-12p (pre II selling SP but with more potential)

ALO - Alecto minerals currently 2p again with a target exist point of 4p given JV update due along with gold resource in Mali. Great BoD and low cost exploration as they own 100% of their drilling rig. Lots of potential here with many sitting on the sidelines awaiting next RNS.

STGR Stratmin Global - UK's only graphite producer with order book ready. Currently 15p (down from 50p) but almost certainly due to sentiment caused by upgrades and investor impatience. Big bounce from lows of 11.25p two weeks ago and upgrades due for completion end of January with grade increases in graphite content (large flake)

BOI - economy turning and it's that simple.

Just for a bit of fun for the season thats in it, how about posting your 3 favourite picks for the new year.

    3. INM. €0.12. I know. Everyone has all but given up on these, including myself. But I can't believe that two of the smartest and wealthiest business men in this country have invested in here again without seeing opportunity. They are starting the year with practical a clean sheet so the ground work has been done. INM have practically a monopoly here now and surely ad revenue can only grow in 2014.

3 unlikely picks. I don't recommend these for any substantial investment but you could have some good volatility and gains.

    1. Independent news and media approx 12.5 cents. Massive debts paid down, cost base reducing.

I'd just like to extend Thanks to the posters quoted here. I bought in when you recommended and it's going really well. I did some research at the time but without your tip, I wouldn't of noticed the company. Much appreciated!

My first 3 picks of 2014. Speculative buys, expecting at least to double my money as I have researched these well over Christmas and they all have much higher projected price targets, analysts are bullish and there is just general good sentiment and news stories around them.

Xencor Inc (XNCR) - $9.14 (Biopharmaceutical Vaccines)
Venaxis Inc (APPY) - $2.10 (Appendicitis detection)
Tiger X Medical (CDOM) - $0.08 (Biomedical - knee injuries)

Of course do your own research, but these are my picks for the new year.

    Good luck for 2014!

    I'll just leave these here:
    XNCR: http://www.wkrb13.com/markets/245182/xencor-receives-new-coverage-from-analysts-at-credit-suisse-xncr/

    APPY +23% :http://www.smallcapnetwork.com/The-Venaxis-Switch-Was-Just-Flipped-to-On-APPY/s/via/1789/article/view/p/mid/3/id/471/

CDOM: No news but up 11%

Have BOI and MEET as well so sweet start to 2014

    See you at the top!

    How about

    BLUR
    CCO
    NWBO

A bit late, but better late than never.

Enjoy your day in the sun , YLB! :D Nothing blurry about Blur, like a rocket + 400% since July 2013 and +30% YTD. Probably too late alright.

CCO and NWBO are they US stocks?

Just for a bit of fun for the season thats in it, how about posting your 3 favourite picks for the new year.

I'll kick it off with mine.

    1. Smurfitt Kappa. €15.95 today. Big gains this year but still undervalued. Very sound company with a lot of ground work done to push on next year.

    2. Air Lingus €1.28 today. I have them on my short list every year but cross them off because unions, ryanair holding, pensions ect. Sooner or later these negatives will have to be delt with and the positives will drive the share price at last. 2014 has to be the year if they ever intend to make something of this company.

    3. INM. €0.12. I know. Everyone has all but given up on these, including myself. But I can't believe that two of the smartest and wealthiest business men in this country have invested in here again without seeing opportunity. Hi,
Unable to convince why I should invest in INM. When I saw the half yearly results as of 30th June 2013, the company is still showing loss of 11.6. This loss is nothing in comparison to the previous years loss of 152.3, however the company is still under loss.
I thought that rule no. 1 in investing should be to pick the share of a profit making company.
I do not however understand what it means when the diluted EPS is now down to 1.85 cents as opposed to 29.87 the previous year.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭pitrn

Another point that concerns me about INM is that there is a huge difference between basic and diluted EPS. basic EPS is .03 cents while diluted EPS is 1.85 cents. This difference is would mean that the company's value will fall if the dilution occurs.
However this is my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong!

As said with all recovery plays ,they are technically not an investment, more a gamble. What we are investing in is, the years ahead ,now that the main problem effecting earnings have been put to bed(debt payments/pensions/overstaffing/bad management). At the moment the company will only survive with maybe a small profit, but if the economy improves, circulation and advertising revenue will turn this into a very profitable company.

Your research is only pointing out, problems that brought about the changes we were all looking forward to.

This is a totally new and untested company now and that is where the value lies! Good luck

Citation Resources Ltd on the ASX but you will have to be quick as they have a drillbit turning. Massive potential but with that comes risk
