They usually started out with 'Into the White' which has Kim on lead vox, so that had to go.

    No Gigantic either :mad::mad::mad:

I foolishly assumed this would start later in the day and have booked something else early afternoon.

If the gates are opening at 3pm what time do people reckon The Pixies will be on at?

I might need to see if I can get out of the earlier gig

    At a guess:

    3.00 Gates

    3.30 Support Act

    5.00 Support Act

    6.45 Pixies

    8.30/8.45 Arcade Fire

I was thinking/hoping that they are going to announce a few earlier supports I see today they announced a gig in London with Jake Bugg, Wild Beast and Future Islands

Somebody mentioned Interpol as a line up but don't know if there's an ounce of truth to it.

Would hate to see Interpol during the day though. Band Of Skulls are supporting them in Hyde Park so would love if they played over here too

What's the curfew at Marley Park?
Was hoping as much of the concert as possible would be in darkness, but doesn't look like it from those timings..

If the Pixies gig was bright for its entirity that would suck :(

It is happening a week after the longest day. It is most likely going to be bright for most of Arcade Fire.

it will be, Arcade Fire will be coming on while it's still bright.

it's an outdoor gig in a residential area, it has to be over by 11pm.

Well they're just yer man's best guess based on the gate opening time but they sound pretty plausible. If I'm going I'd like to time my arrival to just before the start of the Pixies set but if the Interpol rumour is on the money I could be persuaded to turn up earlier...

Well, I'll wait and see who else is supporting, but I'd be hoping to make a day of it :)

Darn it, just realized if Dublin win in a couple of weeks the Leinster semi final take place on the same day as this concert. I bought tickets for the wife and we are on a day out for it. I wont miss the match either though so going to have to bus from city center to Marlay park. Throw in at 4 bells, so would hope to catch most of the match, hope its not a close one:D Back into town and hopefully on a bus at 5.30.

Does anybody know how long the bus actually takes? Do they actually run buses from the city center for concerts there? Have been to concerts there before and traffic around the park was always fairly poor!

    Thanks

Leave the game a little early and hop on a 16 in Drumcondra (opposite the train station) which will bring you to the door of Marlay Park, simple. It will take a good 45 minutes though.

Sorted, 45 mins isn't too bad. Thanks

Cheers for the heads up on this - nice little sample ahead of the gig next month.

BTW...was that Jonathan Ross's first appearance on the BBC since he got the bullet after the Russell Brand shenanigans?

What are people's thoughts on Reflektor? Only just now got around to giving it a few listens and in loving it, haven't really got through the last few tracks yet. Loving Normal Person and Joan of Arc so far! The one they played on Jools is a cracker as well!

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,166 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

I really really like it. One of my favourite albums of last year.

Lulls a little in the middle but it's a very strong album. My favourite changes a bit but at the moment i'm loving Flashbulb Eyes!

I prefer the tail end of the album. Porno being a personal fav and I've only recently returned to it after failing to get into it initially. Think they'll put on a blinder at Glasto or at least I hope they do.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,057 ✭✭✭OhHiMark

Have given the album a good chance and I can't get into it. A few decent tracks but overall I don't really like it.

New album isn't doing much for me. Granted I have only listened to it twice but it hasn't caught my attention like Funeral or Neon Bible would have back in the day.

New Pixies album is disappointing more so though. Still, can't wait to see them as I never have. Think I'm going to have a stroke when they play Dig For Fire! I love that song so much.

Edit: I hope they play Dig For Fire!
