Ireland v Italy still hasn't started. Could be looking at a no result or possibly even a 5 over slugfest.

    Why not?

His raining. Another inspection at 12.30. If the game hasn't started by 9.10 then it's done for the day

Game abandoned. So one point each. Real pity that as we would have expected to win that comfortably.

Another storm forecast for later which could put the Uganda game in doubt. That would also have been expected to be an easy win for Ireland. Fingers crossed for some good news tomorrow

Ireland v Uganda just started with Ireland batting first and no sign of the pesky rain

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,541 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Solid start from the openers and Ireland 30-0 after 3 ovs

    Stirling out

Porterfield out now as well. Ireland 57-2 after 8 and we had a maiden over as well!

Keeping wickets in hand is good but Id like to see us kicking on here. We should be looking at scoring more than 140 odd here.

    Kev o brien out

    82-3 after 11.3

114-3 after 17. Not great at all.

14 runs off the last over is more like it, but with wickets in hand I would have expected us to have kicked on long before now. The Uganda bowling must be decent enough.

147-4. Not great but hopefully good enough against a weak Ugandan batting line up

    Early wicket taken by trent

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,541 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Maiden over by murtagh in 5th over followed by a 12 run from Trent in 6th over. Uganda 30-1 after 6.1

Can you watch this game on line - streamed?

    Thanks

Another couple of wickets and Uganda 44-3 after 9

56-4 after 12.4. Will be a handy win

Some of the early games were streamed on the icc website, but I can't see this one there.

It only seems to be a small handful of games that are streamed live. I think a TV station picked up the rights to show 9 games or something like that. Its a shame because its been a good tournament so far.

Setanta showed a lot of the Ireland games last year, shame it isn't the same again.

Uganda made 99-7 so a good win in the end

So our last game in group A is on Sunday v Hong Kong, win that and we are qualified for the finals. We have 11 points and Hong Kong have 10 after beating USA today, in fact a no result would also see us qualify most likely. UAE are currently third and could end up on 12 points if they win their last 2 games. Its a pity the Italy game got rained off as we would be almost qualified already

Group B is shaping up to be a right old scrap with Afghanistan on 10 points from 6 games played, Holland on 8 from 6 games after losing to Scotland today. Then a bunch on 6 points - Scotland, Kenya and Nepal but Kenya with just 5 played. PNG the unlucky ones here as their game against group whipping boys Denmark was rained off and they only got 1 point from what was a 2 point banker

Gas to think of matches being rained off in that part of the world, perhaps it makes north European players feel more at home :)

I see Italy beat UAE this morning which was a surprise. Hopefully Ireland can seal qualification tomorrow. I didn't think qualification would be effectively a play off with Hong Kong but they have made a strong impression in this tournament.
