Quickly followed by a 3rd wicket, Anwar gone for 19

2 new guys in at the crease now and UAE 64-3 after 10 overs, perhaps a sniff still, need more wickets though and obviously to limit the boundaries

Another wicket down 72-4 after 12.1

Required rate touching 9 now, we could still do this

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,572 ✭✭✭pajor

Another wicket and now a run rate of over 10 required. :D

    5th wicket. 94-5 after 15.4

UAE all out at 133. Ireland win by 5 runs. :D

This looks over already. Ireland just haven't got going in this tournament yet. We were slow starting the last time but finished strongly to win it out so lets hope we can improve as we go along.

    Never in doubt!! ;)
Just goes to show once again you can never write off this Irish team. That's a massive step towards winning this group. It'd be nice if they can make life a bit easier for themselves and us in the upcoming games!

We are not making this easy for ourselves!

    Super death bowling yet again.

Should comfortably top group A now but will seriously need to up the scoring ahead of the playoffs. Some serious scores getting racked up in group B

Another close-fought victory in the bag... keep it going :)

Glad to see Ireland have no fixture tomorrow and have a couple of days off before their next fixture against USA. After playing the same XI 3 days in a row a rest will be badly needed.

Hong Kong surprised Canada today and they join Ireland now a top group A with 3 wins from 3.

Yes, it's great that T20 can throw up some great games, close finishes between any 2 teams. I think that playing it in a "neutral" setting UAE levels the playing field even further.

UAE ended Hong Kong's 100% record today leaving those 2 and ourselves on 6 points in group A, although we have a game less played. Ireland v USA is the only group A match tomorrow

In group B today, Kenya destroyed Scotland, Nepal beat PNG. Its Holland and Nepal on 6 points there but likely to be joined by Afghanistan who play Bermuda tomorrow

Wow. The batting has arrived! Ireland 216-3 off 20 over's today, porterfield 127 not out

USA 22-0 after 2.2 in reply

    USA now 59-3 after 7

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,541 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    83-4 after 10.2

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,541 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

94-5 after 12. A formality despite a bright start by USA

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,237 ✭✭✭✭djimi

Thats some knock from Ireland and Porterfield.

Is anyone showing even highlights of these games? There have been some good games in this tournament so far and it would be a shame if they werent being broadcast.

    USA now 106-7 after 14.3.

This is doing our net run rate no harm at all which could come in handy in the event of a slip up in one of the remaining matches

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,541 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

USA all out 141 in 19.3 ovs

Grand job. Another step closer. :)

Hong Kong continued their impressive showing so far in the tournament with another win today in the other group A match, beating Namibia by 8 wickets. This leaves them on 8 points, the same as Ireland with hosts UAE on 6 points. Ireland and the UAE have a game in hand however. Its looking like these 3 will end up filling the top 3 spots in group A

Group B today so Afghanistan hammer Bermuda and Holland beat Nepal in what was a low scoring affair. Holland sit atop group B with 8 points from 5 games played, next Afghanistan with 6 points and also Nepal however the Afghans have played 4 while Nepal have played 5 games. Behind them its a good bit tighter than group A and Kenya and PNG will feel they can still make the top 3

Its worth noting that only the bottom 3 in each group will be eliminated after the group stage. The top 3 in each group have a more straightforward route to the finals but there is still hope for those who finish 4th and 5th in a sort of repechage competition.

Italy are next up for Ireland tomorrow, and surely the management team will look to make a change or 2 considering they have played the same XI in their first 4 games to date

Ireland v Italy still hasn't started. Could be looking at a no result or possibly even a 5 over slugfest.
