I hope Alfa problems full stop aren't contagious :P

If they are, your turbo will be fine on the way out and the other one will start rattling half way home:D

Right, just gotten back from a 200 mile economy run in the truck, cruising motorway at 67 mph, with one or two "flooring its".
She did 25.3 mpg , not bad for a 5.7 v8 huh! (and that was a calculated fillup , not trip readout)
LPG it and that's the cost equivalent of 50 mpg.

Did you get an LPG conversion for it priced, would you drive it enough to see the return?

I wanted to get my E38 converted, but sure it only does 100 miles a week, also considering LPG is ~90c-105c per liter it's not really worth it at all for me

I came across a very random 00 Passat TDI 130bhp for sale today. It was originally purchased in Holland and then imported to the UK and now it resides in Ireland. The original owner is selling it. It had a lovely spec and low mileage of 124k, still it had a 2k price tag. Fresh NCT however and didn't seem to need anything to be done.

2k is a bit much for a 14 year old car now?

Is it not left hand drive?

No it was RHD. It was bought in Holland as there was a tax advantage for uk buyers at the time to do so. It also meant they got a higher spec car for less.

I think the price is steep but then again there is a lot of love for these.

Never knew the B5 come with 130bhp tbh.

Pretty expensive imo, and I'd question the mileage for such a well traveled car.

The mileage is right that much I do know. It was bought new in Holland by the owner and immediately imported to the UK. He then moved to Ireland. Felt great and no wear anywhere.

I can confirm that back in 2000 - or thereabouts - it was indeed possible for a uk buyer to save a lot of money buying a RHD car brand new in places like Holland.

Think I even read in one of the Uk magazines of someone in the UK buying a Passat (1.8T if I remember right) from a VW dealer in Cork brand new.

Saved a quite a bit because the pre tax cost of the car was less here in Ireland - VRT wasn't relevant when the car was been exported :)

A good 130hp passat is hard to find, its easy to justify 2k because there aren't many reasonably nippy diesels of that age.
The garage I worked in exported 20 saabs in one go to a uk dealer with a small margin because the uk pre tax price to the dealer was a good bit higher.

I thought about it some more. I wouldn't pay 2k for it but I can see why someone would.

    Saloon.

Good stuff - I don't have to resist the temptation to look at it so :D.

Wouldn't mind a nicely specced Passat estate - getting a bit of a dislike to saloons - saloons in general not just Passats.

Wouldn't pay 2 k for one though :( - but who knows where a bit of negotiation would end up.

The fact its a saloon is good though - as I don't need to worry about it :D

Its 1700 for the conversion with a 240 litre tank.
    It turns a 120 fillup into a €60 equivalent.
I calculated and conservatively it should pay for itself after 12-14 months.

anyone any opinions on this? going to view it tomorrow. have very little interest in VW still but it'l be herself mainly driving it who likes vws and shiney new reg plates. all i can see is that it doesn't have leather or DSG which is a disappointment. http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-scirocco-sport/6163923

also what would you expect to pay for it along with a 07 1.2 3dr polo. 90k km's, taxed, tested and has a fsh? around 14k?

Do your homework first man, a good friend of mine in belguim converted his truck to LPG, it lasted 2 months. I cant remember the failure but it was directly attributed to running on LPG. Engine was scrap!
