Less than 500 according to wiki (don't know how much I trust that though?)

It's one of those cars like a cobra or a RS2000 that if i see one i just presume it's a kit car until i'm told different.

Yep, but in white. Probably a kit car. I knew they were rare but didn't !now there were only 500 of them.

There's only one wedge-shaped coupe I want and that's the Mercedes C111. They were only prototypes though. I'd settle for a replica even! :pac:

I saw one in the flesh at the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart. Something else. Amazing looking car. I believe it had a 3 liter turbo diesel that broke 200mph. This was helped by a silly long top gear which aided it getting to that speed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,815 ✭✭✭✭Dord

The first two had rotary engines but I believe the main help in getting to the magic 200mp/h was the drag coefficient. It was less than .20. Very aerodynamic! The new VW XL1 comes in just slightly less than the C111, but not much else trumps that.

I hope to go to the museum at some stage myself...also would love to go to VW's Wolfsburg museum. :)

What's wrong with the E36? The compact one is looks weird, but the one I posted looks good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,473 ✭✭✭YbFocus

Yes to all gvido except the e36, they can't be rated the same as the other two.

    E24
    E23
    Neue Klasse/02 series
    E3/E9

Just a few I can think of that are far more iconic than the E36
